Video of Bivol training with the upper cut,

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/s0yVpKaamwc

Probably he will used this weapon against Beterbiev, but still, it boils down on his execution, he is a volume puncher and so he has to mix his punches too. And we all know that Beterbiev has the power and so he will have to make some distance and judge it so that he can make enough room for him to throw a lot in bunch and not let Beterbiev set his power punches.

The actual fight would be different, especially against a boxer with a 100% KO rate. It's important to have a counter-strategy because Beterbiev is sure to be very aggressive and will likely use his usual approach of trying to finish the fight early. Being a 100% KO artist, a fight that goes the distance wouldn't be in his favor. So, it's likely either he wins by KO/TKO, or he loses via decision if Bivol's uppercut doesn't send Beterbiev to the floor.

The undercard for this event has been announced and the co-main event will be Shakur Stevenson vs. Joe Cordina. Cordina will be moving up in weight and is coming off a knockout loss. It should be an easy fight for Shakur. I can’t blame Shakur for taking the Saudis’ money but this is still a very underwhelming opponent for somebody who likes to talk about how great they are wanting to be the best.

Fans are eager to see Shakur in tougher matchups that align with his ambitions, in my opinion Grin

He is sometimes complaining on social media on why he is not being given respect by the WBO or a certain promoter, however, will he accept a fight vs. the scammer Tank or Loma in Las Vegas and accept the lesser purse for the fight? No, he will only accept a fight with a big purse for him that was given by the sheik of Saudi Arabia against a very low opponent heheheheh.

This is headshaking because he complains, however, he is very much similar to many young boxers where their ambitions is more money without legacy.

I do agree with your statement about boxers right now that are caught up with making money as now they see it as a career and not much to show the world how great boxers they are. But who can't blame them? I mean the Saudi's are offering big money now, so boxers wants to be part of that circle and be included in their fights like Crawford and other brand ambassador fighters they have.

For Shakur, he still hasn't proved anything yet throughout his career as compare to Haney who risk it all to go to Australia and win against Kambosos. Shakur on the other hand keeps fighting no names in his own term and fighting in his city.

@Yaunfitda. If Shakur wants to become the dealmaker on his negotiations on every fight, I reckon he should take risk similar to King Ry when Ryan signed the negotiations demanded by the scammer Tank Davis. However, this should certainly not include the rehydration clause. This has given Tank a very unfair advantage against King Ry. We have witnessed King Ry's real strength against Devin Haney on catchweight already. I speculate that he might do something similar to the scammer Tank if they can agree to fight on catchweight.
Not sure if he is willing to go to that length and allow himself to be the B-side in the negotiations. Both are black boxers so they should know the rules of the games. Ryan though really just wanted to get the fight done at all cost and this is what he ordered Oscar back then. And Tank did take advantage of the situation, inserted the rehydration  clause because he is afraid that Ryan is going to be to big for him. Will Shakur take this route, I don't think so, unless there is avenue for him to make some money like in the PPV and revenue. But as I have said, he is not a crowd draw so I doubt that Shakur is interested on him on a even level field. But someone has to give in if there is a negotiation between the two.

Shakur is just a gate keeper in my opinion, he can't even sell out fights in his home town and so no promoter wanted to at least promote him to be the main card outside of his hometown because they know that it might not sell as boxing is business.

Cordina might be a good boxer, but I think though Shakur will win in another boring and a snoozer of a fight that much of us here are not going to appreciate or we will not be impressed. He says that he wanted to fight he best, but with no star power, and then wanting to be the A-side in every fight, it might not happen. His target is Loma, Tank Davis and Haney, but those boxers at least have a fan based outside of their hometown.

And this is probably not what we wanted to see. However, I'm still hopeful that in the future, a big fight will be waiting for him. He’s still young, not even in his 30s yet, so there are plenty of fights ahead. I just don’t understand why he’s fighting a boxer who’s coming off a TKO loss. This doesn’t seem like an interesting matchup, as Shakur’s skills will obviously be on display, but hopefully, it won’t be too boring---again.

The focus of most people who go to watch will be on the fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, I say this because of the words of Turki Alalshikh who said the following:

"[Stevenson's] talented and young and if he's smart, we will do a lot of things with him," Alalshikh told ESPN. "There's a big fight with him in the future."

source: https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/40932834/shakur-stevenson-defend-title-vs-joe-cordina-oct-12

This means that the Saudis are well aware that they will make a lot of money from him rather than him taking a lot of money from the Saudis. As for the question of whether Shakur will win easily in the fight against Joe Cordina, well in my opinion Cordina has only lost once and I believe that because he had this first defeat, he will try very hard not to have the second consecutive defeat. That is why I still see that it will not be an easy victory for Shakur. The Arabs are already looking at Shakur against William Zepeda next year and if Shakur wins in this fight against Joe Cordina they will pay more attention if he is to fight William Zepeda. These Arabs are very smart, they know how to make money

David Benavidez has decided that he will no longer wait for Canelo and will instead pursue the winner of Beterbiev vs. Bivol. Benavidez had the option of becoming mandatory at 168 and 175 lbs, but it seems that Canelo will fight Edgar Berlanga in September, making 175 the best option for his career. Benavidez did not really impress in his debut at light heavyweight against Oleksandr Gvozdyk. This will likely make him an underdog when he challenges the winner of this bout.

I think this probably happens on September because that 175 is really and ideal weight for him. Going down to lighter weight has a disadvantages on him, and as I had observed with old boxers there has nothing to do good on them for every fighting history. They'll eventually loss power, and it's really dangerous on their fight because we don't know how a boxer could handle without an optimum weight during crucial fights. For now Canelo and Benavidez fight still remains an unfold story, we just have to wait for that perfect match for each of them.

Benavidez is a career Super middle weight, the reason that he went to Light Heavy Weight is that Canelo Alvarez doesn't want to give him a fight even if he is the mandatory challenger for his WBC belt. Oh to make it right, he is the Interim champion and so WBC has two, him and Canelo. And if WBC wanted to have one champion only, then they don't have ordered it, but they don't want to. And so David Benavidez has no choice as he is chasing his own legacy in his young career that's why he move to 175 lbs and fought Oleksandr Gvozdyk.

And now that he won, although we are not  that satisfied in his performance. He said that that he will be up to the challenge here. So with that, he is waiting for this fight. If I'm not mistaken, when he was younger he had a chance to be the sparring mate of either of this two. But it will be different now as Benavidez has improved already. So let's see who will win here, Bivol is the favorite because he is the busier fighter while Beterbiev is coming from a injury.

Ideal weight for David Benavidez? Have you seen his last performance at 175 lbs? Against Olexandr “The Nail” Gvozdyk and everyone thought that is it going to be a easy fight for Benavidez, but it turns out, the Gvozdyk live up to his monicker as David can't score a knockdown or finished him in the fight.

That's why we said that he will have a difficult fight ahead of him if he is going to face the winner of this fight. For this fight, the tentative date or at least the new date is around October 12. So most likely if they go ahead on their planned fight, it will be likely early next year and the venue could be in Saudi Arabia as we all know that HE Turki Alalshikh is the broker for big fights.
And just like Crawford when he moves up to 154 lbs, Benavidez might have a hard time going as high as 175 lbs, the light weight limit. So I maybe thinking that perhaps the added weight could have put a toll on him and might take some time for his body to adjust at 175 lbs.

Morrell as well move up to 175 lbs and it's now the 4 of them battling it out for the title of the best light weight champion. Bivol is now the slight favorite in this fight, at 1.81, as compare to Betebiev at 1.94. With that kind of odds, it just shows that this is going to be very close fight and the line is going to be good already for us boxing fans. Although for sure we might be looking for other odds, but I guess ML is high enough.

The thing is that WBC's Sulaiman can't go anything about it, Benavidez is supposedly the mandatory challenger for Alvarez and yet Sulaiman is not imposing it, (talking about corruption). And now that Alvarez had a September fight with Edgar Berlanga, doesn't make sense for Benavidez to wait again.

So his plan is to face the winner of Beterbiev vs Bivol, so this fight is going to happen this October. And him having a tune up fight again in 175 lbs this December against a no contender, sort of trying to gauge himself at Light Heavyweight. And then take the fight next year at May, Cinco de Mayo to rival Canelo Alvarez as he usually takes fight during that time. And maybe Benavidez wanted to take the limelight out of Canelo with that date as he is obviously a Mexican.

It's just very unfortunate for David Benavidez, he could be just in the wrong era. Torn between a Canelo fight that Alvarez doesn't want to give him, but instead reward younger fighters like Berlanga and Munguia. And then we have the two headed Russians in the mix and taking over the LHW, Beterbiev and Bivol that Benavidez will have to face if he wanted to make money fights.

And so it's going to be very hard fight for Benavidez challenging the winner of Beterbiev vs. Bivol. Either of those two can beat him at 175 lbs. On the other hand, there are fans that think he has a good chance against Alvarez as he is big at SMW division, but Alvarez is not willing to take that big risk fighting him. Hopefully though, after the Berlanga fight, maybe there are still a slim chance that Canelo might chance his stance and give Benadivez that chance.

After what happened it is hard for me to judge who is the favorite to win the fight, A guy coming from an impressive win is more confident and well-conditioned than a fighter who just comes from injury and training will be hindered on his movement because you cannot be 100% right away, so we'll see, it's 4 months to go so many things are going to happen and hopefully there will be no more injuries.

If I'm not mistaken, it was almost 50/50 odds for this because this is a close fight and that's why odd makers are also seeing. But we have to consider now that Beterbiev is coming from a injury and so with long layoff it might be Bivol that will be the favorite right now. But yes, 4 months, still plenty of time, because Beterbiev will heal fast and he doesn't need tune up fight and there will be no ring rust for him.

I am seeing Bivol as the clear close favorite this time. Prior to Beterbiev's injury the odds were close and they were putting either of these champions as slight favorites. The longer time this undisputed fight happens, the better for Bivol as he is the younger fighter. Beterbiev is 39 already.

I don't know what to say but I feel like Beterbiev was handled poorly, especially his prime years. This guy fought Usyk in the amateurs, put him down and hurt him yet he remained a 1 division champion. And at 39 trying to become undisputed. But how I wish he could've fought for the belts earlier and then just move up in weight than wait forever to become undisputed champion.

After Bivol’s easy tune up fight on the undercard of Wilder vs. Zhang, it was announced by Turki Alalshikh that the fight between Bivol and Beterbiev has been rescheduled for October 12. Bivol’s defense didn’t look as sharp as it normally does against Zinad, but that might be because he was really trying to win by knockout, which he did for the first time in 6 years. I expect him to have a much different style against Beterbiev. He cannot afford to make mistakes and get caught with the same punches Zinad was landing on him.

Yeah, maybe he really wanted to impressed the crowd by looking for a knockout win and not the usual hard and grind fight and it will go to the judges scorecard. Nevertheless, he has done his part on the bargin so that the Bivol vs Beterbiev fight can still happen and as announced, it will be October 12.

Bivol before this fight last won via knockout 6 years ago, so he wants to look impressive by forcing a knockout even to the point that he gets caught by Zinad's punches, we all know you never look for a knockout you let it come and happen.

Bivol is well-conditioned going to the fight against Beterbiev because Beterbiev will have to get medical clearance before he can start training for the fight.

Or it just shows that Zinad is not on his caliber and level and obviously, this fight is a get busy fight for Bivol while waiting for Beterbiev to recover.
