After his loss to Manny Pacquiao back in 2019, his career nosedived. Back then Thurman was the favorite to win the fight, but Pacquiao just destroyed him. The scorecard(SD) indicate that the fight was close, but anyone who watched it on TV would disagree. Thurman was competitive only from 6th or 7th round. His next fight came after almost 3 years, when he managed to defeat Mario Barrios by UD. The Barrios fight was quite one sided (scores of 118-110, 118-110, 117-111), but then Mario Barrios is not one of the top fighters in the super lightweight division.

seems that this match won't happen anytime soon. but spence's camp seems to avoid the crawford fight for now. they are looking for other boxers to fight with, maybe preparing spence first. but fight with thurman is a good prep i believe. the prob with most promoters is if they won't see large paycheck, they won't take the bait. spence vs crawford seems to be far from the horizon atm.

Too many other boxers that they can fight with so, they've got to pick whichever they think will bag them money and also will help Spence's rank go higher.

Those that are hype on this if ever it happens, we just have to wait until it happens. That's why I'm keeping a close eye on this one and does search at random times hoping that there could be good news.

Agree with this as we all know Thurman fought in the ring and way back his last fight against manny Pacman Pacquiao for sure he learned a mistake, and that mistake will be his inspiration to fight spence and aim for the victory. I don't think so if thurman already rust in the ring but the only thing I know is that Thurman is not an easy guy, he is a tough boxer who can dominate his opponents by this furious hands and strong punches.

It seems to me that Keith Thurman wasn't struggling at all in his fight against Mario Barrios and in that fight, I was already expecting a much slower Thurman as for sure he will be struggling in the ring because of the ring rust effect as it has been quite a long time since he goes off the grid, but he had no signs at all in all 12 rounds. What happened was the opposite thing because he was impressive, it's just that he was just taking his time in that fight to get himself accustomed again.

Seems that Arum is making some hype and with such a statement it can trigger more interest coming from fans and readers, a good push for both camps as money will flow if this fight will be pushed. It's a mandatory so chances are really possible for both fighters to meet inside the ring. The organization can give some time for Spence, but the fight will proceed if the rules will be strictly implemented.

I will agree with your statement, Thurman will learn about his experienced way back. That Pacquiao fight needs to be an inspiration for him to aim more and twist his fate and bring back his legacy on top.

If the fight will proceed and he (Thurman) manages to win, a belt will value his name and more money fight for him.

There are a lot of potential fights in 2023, like Fury vs Usyk for example, that is more exciting as this one. And so we can't be sure that this is the greatest or even considered greatest fight in 2023. But as gamblers, of course, any fight will be our favorite specially if the odds are going to be good and if we are going to bet for the underdog, it will be a big win for us. Let's wait for the official announcement, Spence is ok now after the vehicular incident and Thurman could be just waiting for this fight to be officially offered to him and see what is the numbers or the purse split.

Not the greatest because it's not a battle of champions, there's only one champion here and that is Spence, maybe one of the greatest as I'm pretty sure we will have to witness plenty of championship fights next year. Anyhow, this fight should happen as Thurman vs Spence is just a great match up, they could have fought when they were both champs, but I'm glad Thurman was given a chance after his come back win.

It's really hard to guess mate knowing that Errol Spence is probably fooling us around these days, I mean, he doesn't have any updates at all despite the fact that people and his fans are waiting for his side to confirm things about his upcoming fight with Thurman.

If Thurman won't get the chance to fight Spence next year, I don't know anymore because if he's also scared of Thurman then I don't expect that he will fight the likes of Ortiz Jr. and Boots Ennis who is next in rank. Climbing up? I don't think that's possible for now because he's too drawn with his belts.

He has to comply as Thurman is his mandatory challenger, maybe no update for now but for sure next year we will already hear an update regarding this fight. Spence is the champion, the word afraid should not exist in his system, and that way, we will be able to see a very entertaining and unpredictable fight early next year.

That's only our speculation in this fight, it's just normal to state our opinion because this fight is a big fight that could attract a huge crowd. Also, for PPV, I guess this will sell as Thurman and Spence have good PPV numbers in their past fights. Thurman had comeback, but if he will lose against Spence, I think his next path will be retirement.

It's really hard to guess mate knowing that Errol Spence is probably fooling us around these days, I mean, he doesn't have any updates at all despite the fact that people and his fans are waiting for his side to confirm things about his upcoming fight with Thurman.

If Thurman won't get the chance to fight Spence next year, I don't know anymore because if he's also scared of Thurman then I don't expect that he will fight the likes of Ortiz Jr. and Boots Ennis who is next in rank. Climbing up? I don't think that's possible for now because he's too drawn with his belts.

He has to comply as Thurman is his mandatory challenger, maybe no update for now but for sure next year we will already hear an update regarding this fight. Spence is the champion, the word afraid should not exist in his system, and that way, we will be able to see a very entertaining and unpredictable fight early next year.

It seems like they were backed by PBC in order to mislead the public that Crawford vs Ennis is the fight that needs to happen. But in reality, Ennis should be the IBF mandatory of Spence. Hence, it should be Spence and not Crawford. And besides, Ennis is also with PBC which makes sense for Spence.

Yes, 147 lbs is pretty much in the control of PBC right now, unfortunately, They have the 3 belt champion and then the upcoming fighter. Crawford is lead for nothing in the welterweight and might be fighting another B fighter in the level of Avenasyan next. And when we thought that him leaving Top Rank is going to be good for his career, it seems its is going on the opposite side since no one is going to negotiate for him under this powerful boxing promotions like Al Haymon's PBC.

In my perspective, I think it's much better not to expect from this fight either because Errol Spence Jr. might use his situation as an excuse to get a free pass and we shouldn't also forget as well that Spence do still have some grudge against Keith Thurman because the current champion wasn't given a chance to have his shot at a title fight in the past years when Thurman was still a champion. I surely don't hope for that situation, but I don't see any reasons also to oppose it because their camp is so silent ever since the Crawford-Spence issue. All that talk that he is going after Crawford next now turns to dust. Just saying.

What we can do now is just to wait, since it was a mandatory fight then the organization can bring this one into reality, else, the belt will be available for Thurman, it's the schedule that fans and readers will be waiting after that said accident of Spence, but the fight might be push as the organization got the final say for this and not the camps that involves.

Well, I guess we don't have any other choice here other than waiting because their schedule is not yet posted plus, we have Spence's recent situation where his legs are affected. But I certainly do hope that he's not wasting anybody's time this time around and will not use his current situation as an excuse to delay the mandatory fight much longer than expected.
