We can remember that this fight has been originally scheduled on December 29 last year but due to the omnicron, Japan was forced to close its borders because these new variant are said that it's going to be more infectious and could spread faster than the previous variants.
And finally, a much awaited unification fight of GGG vs Murata is now set and and now they released a date. April 9 is the day!

This is good news for GGG, at last they have released a date for this fight. One month from now so GGG must be intensify his training so he could catch up.

He must have feel the pressure to win now knowing that Canelo is waiting in the wings and a possible huge retirement paycheck is waiting should he demolished Murata next month but knowing how tough this Japanese boxer, this could be a one hell of a fight for the aging GGG.

A good news indeed, two of the most awaited fight will going to happen this year including the trilogy between GGG and Canelo that was expected to happen in September. Though GGG still haven't signed the deal but we already know that this fight will happen as GGG is the one who want it in the first place. But before that, we should also focus about this first. GGG is still the heavy favorites against Murata.

Good, thanks for the update mate, looking forward for this date, and now that we have a date, they are back in training mode again. And add the extra motivation for GGG to win so that he can set up the trilogy that he wanted against Canelo. And then Murata also motivated to be the one to derail this fight. So as we have been speculating since the start, this will be very interesting fight, GGG fighting at Murata's home soil.

Same here I'm also looking forward about the trilogy, and at last the long wait is over, we can now watch this fight soon as the new schedule is already posted. GGG is really motivated now because Canelo and his camp have changed their mind and offer GGG a deal to fight Canelo again. Win or lose, I just want them to see dancing again in the ring.

For Murata, he is already honored to have the chance of fighting GGG at his own backyard. Even though he himself know that he's not in the same league against GGG but he's also motivated to atleast give an entertaining fight and of course Japanese people are rooting for him.

Yes, it's been a long overdue because of Omicron, but since the date was posted, the next thing now is the bookies to add this fight and let the fans and bettors to pick their choose as early as now, not sure since Spence and Ugas already have available odd and this upcoming fight will be earlier.

Looking to see GGG fighting inside the ring again, let see if he can attract more fans and viewers to call on with another chance
against Alvarez. Roll Eyes Cool

Yes mate, we have waited for more than 2 months from its original schedule. Thankfully omnicron wasn't that strong and Japan have been successful to eliminate the danger after they close its borders for 2 months. I'm also waiting for the bookies to update this fight.
There is no doubt that GGG can still attract people and his fans all over the world, it is one of the most waited fight after this.

I have that feeling that there is a new schedule about this fight right after GGG posted on his social media accounts that he is resuming his training at his camp to prepare for this upcoming fight against Murata. I guess I got it right! Cool

Finally, there's a rescheduled date now erasing some speculations that GGG might face another boxer.

Japan's restriction is now slowly easing and sports events are now being rescheduled. Barely just a month to go, we will now see GGG back in action.

Murata was sure glad too as his dream of facing the likes of GGG will now finally take place. I don't see any problems now that can make the fight delayed or suspended again for the 2nd time.

On Canelo's side, the first deal was already agreed between him and Dimitry Bivol's side and they also have reached out to GGG's camp about the 2nd bout deal but GGG and his team are currently busy now because GGG is also approaching a fight against Murata this April soon (Date TBA). Both camp's needs to win on their current opponents so that Canelo vs GGG trilogy would surely happen this September.
Yes, I think so too and I think that it's GGG's wanted fight before he decides to hang up his gloves.

If he really made up his mind to retire then a bout with Canelo is a great finisher, this is what the boxing world wants, he is the only boxer who offer resistance to Canelo's power and invincibility as a mature boxer I hope there will be no problem with purse and they will take the fight not because of the money but for legacy, we are left hanging after the second fight when the world asks for a trilogy.

Indeed, this could a great fight before leaving the industry for good. GGG have gone through many fights already and hardships, that is why his boxing IQ is a threat and I hear that Canelo before didn't want to fight GGG anymore because GGG will be a threat to his successive wins and probably ugly in his record for being defeated a man who would retire sooner.
In term's of the purse, it is sure be a huge pay even if they won't speak about money. For a fight that almost every boxing fans wants then it's already expected that they will receive a great pay.

GGG is not a threat anymore to Canelo as he's now around 40 years old. Canelo is wise not to challenge GGG before in a trilogy to avoid being defeated.

GGG seems not dangerous now to Canelo because of the age factor.

Wise gameplay for Canelo. Will not go thru a difficult fight on their trilogy. I hope he is wrong and GGG instead will be able to pull a win.

I think that would be the situation before GGG will retire, a one-time big-time fight with Canelo Alvarez to finally settle the doubts of their previous two fights.

Fans all over the world like that to happen. It's just unfortunate that GGG is now on his retirement period. I hope he can still give problems to a much stronger Canelo that is now facing champions as his next target.

A pound for pound king in the making.

If the outcome that they had been anticipating do happens then expect for this fight to be materialized on this year on which that trilogy might happen on where most people or boxing fans been hoping for.
For now the best thing they should do is to win up their respective fight and let that trilogy happen and would close and conclude on whose the one is stronger.  Smiley

I think regardless of whether Canelo will win or not against Bivol in May, the trilogy will still happen. As I mentioned on another thread, the expected money purse on the trilogy is something Canelo can't surely resist.

However, if GGG will lose on the fight to the likes of Murata, it might have an effect on the possible big revenue since if he can't handle Murata, what's the sense of having a trilogy with Canelo which is obviously much tougher and currently on his prime compare to Murata.

That's the only chance we will see the Trilogy, I'm sure the fans will be cheering both fighters to win on their respective fights. We ask for it and the promoters are seeing it, so now they are granting it, but of course, it depends on the outcome of the two separate fights. For me, I have no doubt they will win because these two are heavily favored to win against their opponents.

It's already on his mind even before, to have a trilogy with Canelo. But if you miss some news before, Canelo doesn't want a trilogy since he stated he clearly won the sage between GGG. He even insists that the draw before is supposed to be his win.

To make it short, Canelo thinks that he is now 2-0 against GGG so why the need for a trilogy fight? But the wind seems to be changed as there's a high chance and it's possible as long as they will win on their next fight.

Indeed, GGG have kept on calling Canelo before and that he wants another fight, a trilogy. But Canelo on the other hand, does not want another fight with GGG because as he said the fight between them was already finished. Good thing is that Canelo have opened up his mind again because of the two fight deal. We don't know why, maybe because his fight with Makabu didn't materialize.
ESPN's Mike Coppinger reported Wednesday that Alvarez is finalizing a two-fight, $85 million contract with Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn. One fight would be against WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol in May; the other would be against Golovkin in September. The fight vs. GGG depends on Alvarez beating Bivol and Golovkin beating Ryota Murata this year.

When it comes to demand or interest then people do prefer on seeing the trilogy if it would be granted out and its true that lots had been interested to see this.
As for GGG on taking his retirement then it would be indeed a good finisher if he would be able to fight against Canelo.Doesnt matter if it would be a lose
but much sure this would be something interesting but for now the best thing to be done is to win up those possible remaining fights before he would hang up his gloves.

Even last year, this future fight was already in demand and lots of people have been talking that Canelo and GGG should do a one last fight or trilogy, including me. At last, our wish has been granted. Canelo is now open and have signed the deal.
This likely to be GGG's last fight and it will be against Canelo, a great way before ending his career.

I agree, Canelo went into records saying that he doesn't want a GGG trilogy because he has beaten him already. But as Floyd said, everyone has a price and with that huge contract he sign with DAZN, it's just about time that he will have to face GGG because GGG has sign with DAZN as well. Anyhow, GGG should be excited hearing the news, but first he needs to dance first with Murata in Japan and win.

Otherwise he won't be able Canelo if he losses this fight against Murata, inside this sport there are many upsets that we less expected just looking forward to GGG to win and have that glimpse of chance facing Alvarez again, we will see further updates after the upcoming fights of this two fighters.

If both wins and the talks between both camps turned positive, then fans will be delighted to see it coming. Roll Eyes Grin
