I don't know if it's something related but Japan's Naoya Inoue will come back in June in anticipation that Japan will now finally lift up its current sports restriction. If that's the case, this GGG vs Murata event might also return on that month since the event of this fight will happen in Japan.

Just speculation, not an official one. Maybe the restriction will lift up early.

Then I hope that this speculations might come true because Japan's fighters Naoya Inoue and Murata are one of the most awaited fighters inside the ring and probably their scheduled fights are one of the anticipated fights of every boxing fans. But I can't deny that between GGG vs. Murata, GGG is still powerful and steong fighter though our speculations may only be corrected once we see them inside the ring, but as of now I am in pro of GGG.

Inoue might be the best in his division but I don't think Murata could dominate the fighters in his division, with GGG, that would be a big hindrance for his success and I'm sure you know that the fans believe GGG would easily beat Murata. I can't wait to see this fight because I'm expecting a KO from GGG to prove to those who doubts about his capacity despite his age now.

Still this must be exasperating for someone like GGG that does not have time as his ally due to his age while at the same time all of this works on Murata’s favor.

Nah, I can't underestimate GGG even at his age now, he is still powerful and a strong fighter and I have a feeling that Murato would not last against GGG and still GGG will beat his opponent, probably by KO. I know that our opinion maybe different because we are bias, but for me, I will stick with my belief that GGG will dominate here and age is not his disadvantage.

GGG is like not hitting the age disadvantages. He still has that punch to give problems to anyone he faced.

Not saying Murata is nothing but if GGG will face the same boxer that close to his strength, maybe we can say that age is a factor.

If Murata can give a problem to GGG. I really doubt it.

Just maybe in the early rounds, Murata can stay with GGG, but as the round goes, GGG might take over with his power and experience and ring IQ.

Murata will give his loyal fans a good fight, but we always knows that the better fighter always win. And that for me is GGG. He might be an aging fighter, but I think he can still compete at high level and beat everyone at this weight class.

Yes, the restrictions is getting better now, in many countries they've got lighter restrictions and the chance of removing any is nearly to come. We will see this event to happen if both camps are still aiming for it.

This isnt only talking for this match but also in other matches as well as this pandemic situation is nearly coming to end or would really be totally decreasing down to endemic
which when it comes to restrictions and prohibitions then all of countries would really be not too scared and imposing those things.
Speaking of the fight then GGG would be having the edge, yet even some people do say that experience doesnt matter then you would
definitely see this gap once this fight happens.

The restrictions imposed at Japan are no joke, however now that we are leaving the pandemic behind and instead the disease has become endemic in the population most countries have no option but to relax the measures taken against this virus.

However it would be interesting how GGG deals with this, believe it or not training too much can be counterproductive and athletes that have trained themselves to reach their peak at a certain period of time may find difficult to adjust their training regime if the competition in which they were going to participate were to be delayed for that long, so GGG may not be at his best shape when facing Murata if he is not careful.

That's possible but with his experienced, and with his training camp still the chance that he will be fit and condition when
this fight take place, GGG  understand the risk and his camp will adjust with that.

Japan’s borders could be set to reopen in March after being closed to tourists for two years.
The tight restrictions are set to expire on 28 February. And, though they could be extended again, the government is reportedly inclined to let them end.

Found this article while I was searching for some updates about this fight. Seems that they're getting ready to welcome tourists again soon and hopefully we can get some updates about this fight too.

Great news, this is the information where we can think that the fight will happen this year. We've been talking about this fight since it's a unification fight, and now that they have lifted up the restriction, there's no reason that this fight will not happen.

Last year, they said that this fight will be postponed for maybe a month and it has been already 2 months since then. Well at least now we have something to look forward for and by starting at the fact that Japan is getting ready to ease up restrictions and travel bans by the end of this month. The people and the fans are really rooting about this unification fight, so hopefully we can see this much awaited match before mid year.

Indeed, the news sounds very positive and I'm optimistic that we will see this fight be realized this year. As the restriction lightens, there are no more excuses for a fight to be canceled, unless one of the fighters will choose not to continue, and I'm pretty sure in this fight it's not gonna be GGG who would do that.

I believe that both fighters are willing to proceed and they are excited for this fight, Murata will love this fighting in front of his fans

against a well-known and respected fighter, while with GGG it's an opportunity to hype his name and get another chance to call for

a good money fight. It's interesting for the promoters to create noise now to call the attention of those fans who wanted to see

this fight happen.

This fight will certainly proceed and there's no reason for the both boxers on why would they won't proceed into this fight as it will benefit them both just like as you said, also lots of efforts and money have been already poured to make the fight happen but sadly it was postponed because of the omnicron variant so they won't really let this fight go down the drain.

You mean GGG will be the one who will come out victorious? If so, then we share and have the same view. GGG have definitely more experience than Murata and that gives him more advantage even at his age, while Murata, this is his test if he really have what it takes to be a world champion.

I expect that this fight will happen on or before 2nd quarter of the year and not longer than that, maybe next month will receive some much more wonderful news about the fight after Japan ease its border and restrictions.

GGG never underestimates his opponents but it's us fans who think it will be easier for GGG to beat Murata because he is not a world-class fighter. I think the fight will be more exciting if both would really train hard, and I'm pretty sure that the least we can expect in this fight is to see a KO.

GGG has not been defeated brutally by any fighter, in fact his first loss was only against Canelo Alvarez in a controversial fight.

It's great to know that GGG has a solid fans who supported him all through his career and yeah we the fans are the one who push our favorite fighters to strive hard and give their best to win the fight. I believe GGG and Murata are both good fighters and I'm expected that this upcoming fight will be a difficult fight to both fighters. I am also excited to see them inside the ring and fighting for their belt but the question is when we will going to see these 2 fighters inside the ring.
It's that just thinking about how this fight will be of course exciting, I don't know if the fight fixers are delaying on purpose to cause more fury and anxiety for the fans and the bets are shot to new limits, but when you see all the days the word "Reschedule" without even advancing something, gives impotence, not only for betting, but for sports, GGG needs to show that it has everything, that it has not lost anything, on the other hand Murata has a lot of challenge when facing a great opponent, with everything that is happening in the world, it would be a good show if they could offer it soon, I think it is time to give that show to the fans.

Same here, it's indeed time to at least give the fans something to look forward to. A new date perhaps.

Is there no updates about this unification fight yet? It's been 2 months since they postponed the fight and we're already in the middle of February but I still don't see any new schedules.

There's still no solid information about the schedule of this fight, I think the last update was the time Hearn said that this fight could happen somewhere in April but it is not yet confirmed as Japan is still have strict restrictions about entering their border.

Maybe they are delaying it but not for the purpose of creating more hype on this one. I think there is hype already specially if the fight are going to be made in Japan. And we all know that GGG fight are exciting and then Murata the local champion of Japan. Perhaps the promoters are delaying it to smooth things up first in Japan as we all know that they are easing the covid-19 restrictions a bit.

I know that our opinion maybe different because we are bias, but for me, I will stick with my belief that GGG will dominate here and age is not his disadvantage.

I have the same view as you. Even GGG is now past his prime, we can say that his destructive power is still there. Murata is not even a threat to GGG's legacy and the only advantage that I can see for him is if the fight will still hold in his home country, Japan.

Murata's experience is also not that solid. He only has a few fights and not big ones to consider compared to the fight experience of GGG.

GGG will win this match. Not because of the name but the record will tell it all.

i don't worry much about murata  fighting in his home country. japanese people are one of the honest people that i know of. so i don't think they will resort to cheating or of that sort. we also don't know the lineup of the judges.
murata has the youth but GGG has the experience. and based from the poll, everyone is rooting for GGG here.
but their respective promoters should make up their mind fast when will this finally happen as GGG is not getting any younger.

Indeed! Japan is famous for their honesty and fairness, so actually there's no need for us to worry about the cheating issue or about the judge and for sure both parties are also aware about that.

Murata is well known in Japan since he got a gold medal on London Olympics, on the other hand, GGG also won a silver medal on Athens Olympics. Murata may be a good boxer but he's nowhere near to GGG's level and experience, so he's not a big threat over-all.

I understand that age is a factor but still, Murata's credentials aren't showing us why should he win this fight. There's no underestimating here for Murata but just sharing some facts. There's even no destructive power he showed at most of his fight. He become a champion because he was assigned.

The only hindrance might I say to GGG is, if he will suffer a minor injury prior to the fight since the fact that age is a factor and his usual self might not handle now the common practice he is undergoing during his prime day.

Hopefully that won't happen to GGG. This postponement of the fight extends the drills and practices. He can do the usual or lighter drills for sure his doctors are also aware and monitor his health conditions. I can say that the chance for him to win when the fight takes place is still higher compared to Murata. Experienced, wise fighting, much tougher opponents are his advantage. He can take that edge and
maybe a possible KO may happen to Murata.
