Any fresh update about the fight? Since we are now entering the 2nd month of 1st Quarter, at least we should now see any update on this fight.

Based on my own research, Japan is still restricting boxing event. I like to see Murata fighting GGG at his homecourt. Hope the situation will get better as GGG is now aging and needs to fight now. His time is running out for more possible good fight in the future.

I guess if there is any publication it would be updated here as well, seeing that many chooses GGG over murata to win the the fight. I think Murata is really getting ready to the win as from GGG. The fight will be a great one and I will be active to witness.

But with the current version of Canelo? and then GGG maybe fading as he is in 40's? I think Canelo should go for him and proved once and for all that he beat GGG fair and square. But we goes on the record saying that he is no longer interested so that is a open book for us boxing fans. Canelo though will end as of the best boxers of our era and GGG on the top 3 of the best middleweights of all time.

Canelo is like the best in his generation now, but there's one guy that he really cannot dominate in the ring, and that is GGG. Maybe the reason why he is not fighting him anymore is because he knows himself that he is at a risk of losing the fight, just my personal thoughts though, don't take it seriously.
Yeah, that's why when both of them have retired, there could be a lot of arguments about that 3rd fight not happening. But no one can argue that they are the best of their division and Canelo upping up by moving in weight and becoming the first Mexican to become a 5th belt champion.

Going back to the fight, there are still no news of he schedule, but hoping that at least it will happen in the second quarter of this year as Japan is easing on their travel ban.

There's no exact date but it says in the article below that the fight is rescheduled for March/April.

Golovkin vs. Murata To Be Rescheduled March/April, Says Hearn

Let's hope that the fight will happen and will not be rescheduled again, we have to see GGG fight this year so he will not be stagnant for a long period, and since this is a unification fight, we should not miss this.

Can't argue you with that mate! Canelo is indeed the best of his generation with 4 championship belts in his possession and the 6th boxer who holds the undisputed title in the history. That alone isn't an easy feat that a boxer can achieve, and about GGG? I think you're right about that because as we saw their matches, Canelo can't really dominate GGG and he can't risk his title and record for a man that will likely to retire soon. We can't blame him if that's what he thinks because boxing as we know is a pure business.

Even if triple G almost retire in his boxing career I think he have still a chance to win this match against Murata and we all know that Triple G is a good boxer like manny pacman he want to fight again and again to prove to Us that Triple G has not changed. But before this fight happen I think we will wait the farther notice from the committee cause this omicron is the reason why this fight is re schedule

Yeah and that's for sure of course, I mean I would not doubt that GGG could still stand in a long fight despite that he almost retire in his boxing career and that's doesn't mean that he doesn't have the edge to win this fight. Actually, I am also one of the boxing fans who are rooting for triple G triumph on this fight. I believe there is still no solid schedule for this fight and like what we all do here guys I am also waiting for this game and could finally put my bet on this fight.

He has the edge here, he can still box and fight despite his age. The question is on Murata and how he will perform in front of his crowd. If he can give GGG a good fight then good for us boxing fans, but I still not seeing him winning over GGG. And at 160 lbs GGG is almost unbeatable, of course except Canelo. And hopefully before GGG retires, we can see the 3rd fight, to settle things and there is no 'what if' upon his retirement.

It will only be settled if the right will not end up with controversy again, so I think it's not gonna happen anymore as Canelo is also not sure if he can beat GGG as he tried twice already but he can't put the man down. Both will fight their own fights, and if they keep winning, that's enough for them to consider as one of the best fighters in their generation.

A third fight between Canelo and GGG is not going to be difficult to sell to the public but it is going to be a difficult sell for the fighters.

Even if Canelo would be the favorite both fights were very close and many people saw GGG winning at least one of them, Canelo is not going to risk losing against a boxer that it is close to retirement, and if to this we add that Canelo is moving up a division and that it will require that either one of the fighters move from the division they feel more comfortable then the chances that we will see a trilogy between the two of them is low.
Even lets say that they would be on the same division if interest neither one of them isnt there then low chances for that Trilogy to happen but it couldnt really be denied
that this Trilogy between Canelo vs GGG would still sell out yet people been eyeing for this fight to happen but  there are several factors needed for it to make it real
but it seems we arent seeing any single hint or things for us to say about its probability.
Which is why it will not happen, while the interest of the public is necessary to make a fight a reality, we also need the interest from the boxers to make the fight a reality and since this is not the case then we can discard the possibility of ever seeing the trilogy between GGG and Canelo.

As a fan it is obvious that I would like to watch a third fight among them, but I am realist and I recognize that most likely this is never going to happen.
When interest isnt there then you should expect that it wouldnt happen no matter what and this had been the case on which both boxers arent really showing some interest on having Trilogy
but actually on general point of view then i dont think its necessary yet its been already concluded on that rematch fight which as a fan i dont see for it for GGG to justified out
something with that.So lets not continue to discuss off on this one.

Or he can't make the 160 lbs limit, which is GGG weight class, unless they settle in a catch weight. But yeah, this is the biggest what if's in boxing in recent memories, the score is not settled with 1 draw and 1 win by Canelo (although there is argument that GGG won the first fight). So we may have missed on of the greatest trilogy story in bxoing in this generation.

Japan will unveil relaxed border control measures as soon as next week, broadcaster TBS reported, an indication it’s ready to roll back some of the strictest restrictions in the developed world after they failed to contain the spread of the omicron variant.

This article was published yesterday, seems they will allow foreign entities this month as Japan will start to ease their restrictions next week. This could be the news we are waiting guys, hopefully there will be some updates this month about the fight too because GGG can't wait that long enough if indeed the rumors were true that the fight could go as long as 2nd quarter this year.

Wow, finally! Thanks for sharing that information mate. Well at least now we are getting some positive updates on Japan's border restriction, I also read somewhere that Japan will also start accepting tourists and other leisure activities by March (no specific date yet).

Yes hopefully they will release some updates about the fight too because this is one of the most awaited fight but sadly it was postponed due to the omnicron variant. I could really feel that GGG is already burning and cannot wait to fight Murata soon, anyways I'm optimistic that we will receive some new updates about the schedule.

This is really a good news, yes, with vaccine proving it's case against the Omicron variant, and countries globally pushing for a booster, just a matter of time before the cases drop and countries opening again.

So for sure this will push through this year, and we as boxing fans will definitely enjoy watching this fight as both are champions and GGG already on the tail end of his career but still can fight.

Omnicron wasn't as bad as the delta variant though, but for safety precautions, Japan closed its borders for safety precautions as omnicron variant that time wasn't known at all or its effects if transmitted. But I'm glad about this news and that Japan is easing their restrictions again, you're right mate, just a matter of time before we can see this fight. I just hope that this would not take any longer as the boxers and fans are already looking for forward to happen it as soon as possible.

I haven't heard any update so far, hopefully this fight is still a go because this is going to be a good fight for GGG and this is a unification fight.

A good fight and definitely a must-watch fight between two champions.
The update only talks about the delay due to the omicron virus.
https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/995182/gennady-golovkin-japanese-champion-ryota-murata-delay/

However, it seems like the cases worldwide are going down, (correct me if I'm wrong), so we will probably see this fight this 1st half of the year.

That is true, Japan is still very strict as far as any sporting events, so I will assume that this is still on hold for now. And we are waiting for the promotions if they are still targeting Japan or somewhere else where they can stage the fight because it is taking too long already.
