Still this must be exasperating for someone like GGG that does not have time as his ally due to his age while at the same time all of this works on Murata’s favor.

Nah, I can't underestimate GGG even at his age now, he is still powerful and a strong fighter and I have a feeling that Murato would not last against GGG and still GGG will beat his opponent, probably by KO. I know that our opinion maybe different because we are bias, but for me, I will stick with my belief that GGG will dominate here and age is not his disadvantage.

I have the same view as you. Even GGG is now past his prime, we can say that his destructive power is still there. Murata is not even a threat to GGG's legacy and the only advantage that I can see for him is if the fight will still hold in his home country, Japan.

Murata's experience is also not that solid. He only has a few fights and not big ones to consider compared to the fight experience of GGG.

GGG will win this match. Not because of the name but the record will tell it all.

i don't worry much about murata  fighting in his home country. japanese people are one of the honest people that i know of. so i don't think they will resort to cheating or of that sort. we also don't know the lineup of the judges.
murata has the youth but GGG has the experience. and based from the poll, everyone is rooting for GGG here.
but their respective promoters should make up their mind fast when will this finally happen as GGG is not getting any younger.

I understand that age is a factor but still, Murata's credentials aren't showing us why should he win this fight. There's no underestimating here for Murata but just sharing some facts. There's even no destructive power he showed at most of his fight. He become a champion because he was assigned.

The only hindrance might I say to GGG is, if he will suffer a minor injury prior to the fight since the fact that age is a factor and his usual self might not handle now the common practice he is undergoing during his prime day.

But with the current version of Canelo? and then GGG maybe fading as he is in 40's? I think Canelo should go for him and proved once and for all that he beat GGG fair and square. But we goes on the record saying that he is no longer interested so that is a open book for us boxing fans. Canelo though will end as of the best boxers of our era and GGG on the top 3 of the best middleweights of all time.

Canelo is like the best in his generation now, but there's one guy that he really cannot dominate in the ring, and that is GGG. Maybe the reason why he is not fighting him anymore is because he knows himself that he is at a risk of losing the fight, just my personal thoughts though, don't take it seriously.
Yeah, that's why when both of them have retired, there could be a lot of arguments about that 3rd fight not happening. But no one can argue that they are the best of their division and Canelo upping up by moving in weight and becoming the first Mexican to become a 5th belt champion.

Going back to the fight, there are still no news of he schedule, but hoping that at least it will happen in the second quarter of this year as Japan is easing on their travel ban.

There's no exact date but it says in the article below that the fight is rescheduled for March/April.

Golovkin vs. Murata To Be Rescheduled March/April, Says Hearn

Let's hope that the fight will happen and will not be rescheduled again, we have to see GGG fight this year so he will not be stagnant for a long period, and since this is a unification fight, we should not miss this.
As long as we have an idea of when the fight could take place that is fine for me, after all I was afraid that this fight would have been canceled as we have seen many fights that were supposed to be fought at Japan to be canceled due to the heavy restrictions of the country.

Still this must be exasperating for someone like GGG that does not have time as his ally due to his age while at the same time all of this works on Murata’s favor.

GGG never underestimates his opponents but it's us fans who think it will be easier for GGG to beat Murata because he is not a world-class fighter. I think the fight will be more exciting if both would really train hard, and I'm pretty sure that the least we can expect in this fight is to see a KO.

GGG has not been defeated brutally by any fighter, in fact his first loss was only against Canelo Alvarez in a controversial fight.

It's great to know that GGG has a solid fans who supported him all through his career and yeah we the fans are the one who push our favorite fighters to strive hard and give their best to win the fight. I believe GGG and Murata are both good fighters and I'm expected that this upcoming fight will be a difficult fight to both fighters. I am also excited to see them inside the ring and fighting for their belt but the question is when we will going to see these 2 fighters inside the ring.

As time progress and these delays would really be utilize on which they could really have that ample time for them to make out preparations and they wouldnt really let these times comes to waste

when it comes to experience just like on what others been pointing out then there's no doubt that GGG is on the edge but he shouldnt really be that confident because anytime the table could turn
upside down.

If he won then he might have some trilogy with Canelo but of course if he would able to make out some interest but i do have feels that he would really be nearly retiring.

They can use the time delay to worthwhile preparation activities like training and formulating their ring strategy. As we have seen in previous boxing fights last year, there were so many upsets. So if this will be another upset, then, I won't be surprised. GGG is the favorite but we can't take for granted Murata's skills. Even if Murata is in his home court, I have high regards with Japanese people because they are honest people. So not worried about the fairness of this fight.

I disagree though, fighters trains like 8 weeks before the actual fight so that they won't get overtrain. So if he continues to train despite the delay GGG with experience some burn-out. So I think they are taking it slow right now. Maybe just light trainings and a few runs here and there. Of course, never underestimate a boxer who has the home court advantage and GGG fully knows that as he started just fighting in his home town for many years because he is comfortable.

Any fresh update about the fight? Since we are now entering the 2nd month of 1st Quarter, at least we should now see any update on this fight.

Based on my own research, Japan is still restricting boxing event. I like to see Murata fighting GGG at his homecourt. Hope the situation will get better as GGG is now aging and needs to fight now. His time is running out for more possible good fight in the future.

I guess if there is any publication it would be updated here as well, seeing that many chooses GGG over murata to win the the fight. I think Murata is really getting ready to the win as from GGG. The fight will be a great one and I will be active to witness.

Nothing still, and for sure update will be available in case that there's any news regarding to this fight.

Like what you have said, GGG is the favorite to win here, not an easy fight for Murata knowing how GGG takes this division before

Canelo take him down, we don't know what kind of preparation Murata's camp is doing to be more prepare once the fight takes place

and how he will executes when they met inside the ring..
Nothing could be said until it would be shown inside the ring and of course they would really be making out preparations for this fight which it is really just normal for an upcoming fight.
GGG might a little bit getting older but doesnt mean that he's already sluggish even though Murata is strong one but speaking with experience then GGG couldnt be easily be beaten up.
I dont think any possible upsets for this one and not to underestimate on which the gap is too wide to consider out.
The truth is that this fight has me on edge, because I know that for many it is an ideal fight to demonstrate the power of both boxers, and so much preparation to not have an exact date, I wonder one thing, is it that both fighters are preparing a lot in these moments? If I were either of those two, I would be preparing myself to the maximum every day as if the fight were tomorrow, if there is something I know about boxing, it is that the more hard preparation you have, the more chances of winning there are since your resistance increases.

It quite normal for the both boxers to prepare themselves to extreme conditions and conditions but not just as if tomorrow is the fight, No, there's nothing like that. But I got your point, yes as of now, both fighters are already matured from the trainings since their fight was postponed. Aside from that, the benefit of the fight being postponed is that they can study their opponents moves more often until they can create such techniques on how to overcome it.

I think that there's no concrete evidence about it yet because the word used is "looks like" and if ever it is indeed March or April then I think by now they've posted about it already because it's only a few weeks away.

I think there's something to this news. I could find more sites that claim the fight is going to happen on a later date.
http://fightnights.com/event-3236

Hopefully that date is fixed but just like you said, there's no solid information yet about the exact date of this fight. The Japanese government are still restricting these kind of events that will certainly gather large crowd, as of now, they're slowly getting back to normal so I suppose we will get some announcement or updates few weeks from now.

I guess other countries are already lowering the restrictions, so there's a big chance that we will witness the said fight soon. In the Philippines, our local basketball league has already resumed, so I think this gives a signal that the world were able to battle the omicron virus and the cases are already decreasing.

You're actually right about that other countries are starting to open and slowly starts to normal but Japan is very different as they are very finicky and always protecting their people. During the Covid lockdown last 2020, they were one of the first country to react about it that's why they aren't heavily affected by the virus. Now, they're making sure that omnicron will subside first before they starts to welcome tourists and other events like boxing. But, I really hope that we could receive some good news this month about this fight.

Yes, even Australia, who has one of the longest lockdown, seems to be easing as well including their borders. So soon, Japan might follow and allow all sports to resume in their country. So expect that this fight is going to resume once everything has been smoothen out by the Japanese government. There could be some restrictions in place, but at least they will allow to continue it to happen in their country.

I'm also rooting that GGG vs Murata will happen before June because this fight has been postponed for 2 months now and still no solid updates about it yet. It is not also good for GGG as he didn't already fought for more than a year now since his fight against Kamil.

“Gennadiy Golovkin was to fight Murata in December. It looks like it's going to be rescheduled for March or April,” Hearn told IFL.

I think that there's no concrete evidence about it yet because the word used is "looks like" and if ever it is indeed March or April then I think by now they've posted about it already because it's only a few weeks away.
