I guess the reason why funding did not push through is that the fight is somehow not that hype. Investors do have the advice of sports analysts with them. Crawford and Pacquiao’s if matched is not thrilling enough for the investors to earn from their shares.

So I guess, they aren’t interested in the match and I think it would push through if Pacman’s opponent is changed to a legendary one too.

But in my own opinion, investors are eye-ing for the rematch of Pacman and Mayweather as we all know that second match would be the largest paid pay-per-view match in the history just in case. All of it because people wanted Pacman to know down Mayweather.

A fight against Mikey Garcia should not be too hard to make but we have yet to hear anything official. If this fight was happening in July then this would be around the time they would start their training camps. The inactivity can't be good for Pacquiao and the longer he remains out of the ring the better it would be to just remain retired.
I don't get Pacquiao though, he should've retired after his defeat against Marquez but he is still pushing on, I admire that he did fight still but there should be a limit and he should retire with his last fight already a win. By the way, I think training camps don't work like that, I think that there should be an announcement of the fight first before doing training.

Manny seems became greedy for money as he have an ambition to became a higher official in Philippines, maybe thats the reason why he didn't left boxing yet since he needs money for running his wants. For me he really needs to retire since he already got a name on this industry and if he's unlucky to get a career ending disease brought by receiving a heavy punch for sure he will regret why he didn't retire while his body still in shape.

Manny has been in the business for more than a decade, and he is not only a fighter now, he is also a promoter who already knows how to run the business. I'm sure he has a backup plan and he can still get a fight this year.

For me, Manny is not greedy, he just wants to fight and the majority of the fans would want to see him fighting.
Retirement is only good if you have nothing to give, but the last fight of Manny prove that he still has a lot to give in boxing.

Man I do hope he considers retirement, he has a lot of things on his hands right now and i f I was in that position, I would probably be drained out with all the things that I want to do. If he lost his speed then Pacquiao doesn't have it in him anymore, this is an old tiger, dangerous but not that intimidating.
as far as I know, he already talks about his plan for retirement in the near future(maybe after the second fight this year since he plans to fight twice in 2021). I guess we can expect his announcement for retirement in the end of the year or in the early months of 2022.

anyway, I suggest fixing the quoting on your post.

edit: here, I found this article mentioning his plan for retirement https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/other-sport/manny-pacquiao-reveals-he-is-in-talks-to-fight-again-and-then-announce-retirement-plans-1.1216325

Lol, he did keep fighting after the Marquez fight, he won belt again in the 147 lbs. Marquez doesn't want to have a rematch so he keeps on moving with his boxing career. So we can't tell him to quit or retire because Pacquiao still has it although he might have lost some speed.

Yes, maybe they are just doing some light training, but after the announcement, it should be full blown hard core training again for Manny to keep him in tight shape for this bout, that is, if the fight is going to happen in the next two months.

They are still finalizing the deal for sure and this might be the last fight of Pacquiao especially if he won on the upcoming elections in the Philippines where many says that Pacquiao will run for president, this fight can help the exposure of Manny in the public so I think they will push this one. Let's wait for the final announcement and i also believe the inactivity of Manny is not good considering his age as well.
That could be an issue here, that's why they are still finalizing the match since I still didn't see any news with regards to this match. Few more weeks left for them to train and I don't think its not enough for both Boxer to prepare, I want to see Manny on the boxing ring again before he retires, hopefully he will not run for president next year, I still want him to see fighting and for me, he's fine on the Senate level.

I also tried to search for local Philippine news if there's some kind of update regarding this fight.

Unfortunately, it's very quiet, I don't know if this is an indication that the fight has been sealed already and just waiting for the right time to announce it, or this fight is not going to happen.

If the fight continues, then Pacquiao needed at least 8 weeks of training to get back in shape.

Of course, it is still after the money though, remember that they have a good lifestyle in the Philippines, his wife Jinky is a A-lister and then their families and friends. Yes, Manny has a lot of investments, but with just one fight, he will get a lot of money so he needs to save before he retires and then embark on his career as a politician.

No amount of money is going to be enough, as per the human psychology. And there is a lot of difference between $10 million (which was offered to Pacquiao for his proposed fight against Terence Crawford) and $100 million (which he received during his fight against Floyd Mayweather in 2015). And for someone who is worth around $250 million, these amounts are going to be significant. Because there won't be any significant earnings, once he retires from the boxing scene.

Manny don't need money from boxing as he is a billionaire in the Philippines right now. Manny is a guy who like to face the camera and have that fame because of his political ambition in our country. Rumors have it that he just to fight to keep his popularity afloat because if he will no longer fighter people might not vote for him anymore and that b___s thinking as far as i'm concern.
Do you think that Manny Pacquiao is still fighting to boost his political career, i seriously doubt that, he is already famous and made the money but i do not think he is a billionaire as Floyd is the highest earned boxer and even he never made a billion dollars. The fact is that he is still an elite level fighter and he knows that it is a small window of opportunity where he can perform at that level and as long as he can perform let him do what he likes.

Manny Pacquaio is a billionaire if we convert his earnings in Philippine peso and though Floyd Mayweather earned more than Manny but still the latter is above in terms of purchasing power as Manny spend his fortune in his home soil which is much cheaper than in the US. If Manny doesn't fight anymore, he can sustain his style of living while Floyd can't.

If you gonna dig deeper on why Manny still fights, it's not the passion and the money anymore. He fights to attract attention and to be still relevant in Philippine politics as he don't need to pay TV stations to have an air time. I'm a fan of Manny the boxer but if he insist on running for the Presidency, he can't have my vote.

Very well said but actually, I still believe he fights for money... If he wants attention, then can fight an MMA fighter like Mcgregor but that didn't happen. Anyway, for me, I can't say enough, this is just my opinion though, but I would say that I'm happy to see him fight and I always back him to win.

Unlike the younger days of Manny when he was still chasing money more than any other, right now it is probably just a balanced approach. It is more of money and safety and the prospect of facing a weaker opponent.

Safety seems not on his vocabulary because he is willing to fight any fighter, in fact, he challenged one of the best which is Crawford but his challenge was not accepted. Maybe these young champions are thinking of their safety as although Pacquiao is old but is only old on age or number.

"Age is just a number" may be true if you are a teacher but not if you are a boxer. Pacquiao and his team are looking for a good fighter, popular for the sake of money, and is somehow easier to take.

Both Manny and Crawford teams are saying the same thing about the other avoiding the other.

That may be true. I heard of Pacquiao's intention to become president. He needs to relive his legacy among the citizens of his country if he wants to keep that boxing fame retained in the minds of the people. This is probably the reason why he has to climb the ring every now and then. We don't know.

As to money, it is normal for any wealthy person to need and want more of it.

Not to boost, but probably wanted to remain relevant as we all know that he got his exposure in boxing first before taking on his political ambitions. So it's a win-win for him if he keeps on fighting, he will be talk not just in the Philippines but globally, and then he was to earn huge amount.

Of course, he is not close as compare to Floyd's boxing earning. Manny has Bob Arum in the first part of his career, so there is a cut and then we should understand that he is a non US boxer. But in his country, he is one of the riches person because of boxing.

Anyhow, it's really hard not to discuss Manny's political ambition or career here.

I believe he is already rich, but I doubt that statement that he doesn't need money anymore. it's natural for some that they will not be contented, he will always aim for bigger money as he has a lot of ambition in life, to be a president, he needs to be financially stable and free in order to fund his campaign and I guess he is really busy with that, and he tried to build a legacy not only in boxing but in politics as well.
