Not a close fight as far as the judges are concern. Just look at the official score card.
According to the judges Ryan Garcia won the first third till sixth round 10 to 9 and Luke Campbell winning the second round 10 to 8, you cannot always trust the judges and i thought the fourth round was also close and i gave the round to Luke Campbell as Garcia was swinging wildly and missing many shots and Campbell was able to connect a clean shot to the head that rocked Garcia.

While you guys talking about how exciting the fight was, I just thought of the money involved in this fight.

So I was suddenly interested to know on how much both made in this fight.
If anyone knows, I would be thankful.. I'm okay with estimate as long as it's a close one, and as long as it has a source.

If we refer to the statement below then Ryan Garcia's purse for that fight is below 1M USD while Campbell being on the B side received a much lower figure that Garcia. It is understandable that Ryan is calling out to fight the champions of this division because of money matters. Davis vs Garcia is a money fight but the latter should be careful on what he wished for as this might derail his career. Haste makes waste, he should remember that and listen to his advisers for the betterment of his career.

I can't imagine how Garcia looks if Davis was the one throwing that punch that floored him in the second round.  Smiley

According to Sportekz, the highest purse money Garcia so far earned is from the fight against (Romero Duno) upto $250,000. In 2020, he got paid maximum $500,000 purse money and also received the pay-per-view revenue share.  Apart from this, the average annual salary of the boxers is reported to be around $51,370, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Thanks for that information bro.. I guess Garcia now has to start calling out big names, like Manny Pacquiao if he want to make more money. Manny has now the celebrity in boxing, everyone wants to fight him because of the possible big money hey will make, damn, I'm excited to see what's next for Manny, hopefully he'll fight this year.

If you guys observed, there's one referee (Filipino i think) who scored the 2nd round 10-9 despite of that knockdown, why is that?

Everyone noticed that, it was already in the article of some website.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/13635654/campbell-garcia-scorecards-judge-knockdown/

Lol, everyone were bemused over that score on the second round knockdown but i have made a little research and found that if a fighter was dominated by his opponent and got knocked down once then the score would be 10-8 while if he was dominating the opponent and unfortunately got knocked down then the score would 10-9 in favor of the one who scored a knockdown, but then again it's always the discretion of the judges on how he sees it.

Remember Pacman vs Marquez 1, on the first round, Manny floored JuanMa thrice and the score of the judges were as follows:
10-6, 10-6 and 10-7 (resulting to a controversial draw).

Online audience plus limited audience in the event, is good enough we have technologies now to provide such convenience. Still it was close fight seeing Ryan get knocked down in the 2nd round. I thought the fight is already done. I didn't expect for him to comeback strong and win the game, with a finishing body blow that led Luke unable to fight. Spectacular perfomance from both fighters.

Not a close fight as far as the judges are concern. Just look at the official score card.

Let's hear if WBC will order Haney now to face Garcia. Although it is complicated as there are 2 mandatories, Fortuna and now Garcia.
The world is now Garcia's oyster, there are a lot of potential fights like Haney as mentioned, Teofimo Lopez and Gervonta Davis. Garcia said on an interview that he wants to have a bout with Devin but who knows. maybe Devin will accept or Davis will be the one to fight, they are both WBC Titlist anyway.

Given that he has the advantage with this fight considering his opponent is an underdog fighter, he will likely win the fight and he did. Now for his next opponent, I think he needs to relax and wait for some time to fight again no matter who will be the opponent in his weight class. As you can see, even though we already reached 2021 the pandemic still there and we will not see him fight with lots of audiences in the ring. If he delays his fight a little more, maybe we can see him and the other fights in the ring with lots of audiences cheering for them. that would not be boring to watch though.
Both fighters are good, I do not think that Garcia has the advantage besides his stamina, Campbell is an Olympic Gold Medalist, not gonna lie though, the body shots were something. Recuperation will be an easy task for these boxing fellows. Of course there will still be a pandemic even after 2020, what did you expect that Coronavirus will be gone by 2021? Time is just a construct.

Still a good win though, despite we all know that he will win or maybe this is just a cherry pick for King Ryan. This is a perfect ending or beginning for him, getting knock down, gets off the canvass, then that perfect body shot that reminds of Hopkins vs Dela Hoya.

That's a bad cherry picking if you'll ask me, Ryan Garcia almost loss in this fight, lucky for him he was able to get up and continue the fight.
Campbell is good but he is not yet in the level of Ryan Garcia, but this boy give a good challenge.

at the back of Campbell's mind, maybe its screaing "ALMOST"..
Not a cherry picking fight indeed. Campbell knocked down Garcia which is first in his whole career. That speaks a lot so I think Campbell deserve the respect from all of us as well.

That's the consequences of showing over confidence inside the ring, Garcia admitted it. Even greatest fighters have weak spots.

[snip]

Love to see a Haney vs Garcia, I'm wondering what the betting odds would be, who will be the favorites in this fight.
Aren't you more interested to Davis vs Garcia? Just asking Grin.

Yes it is more tough fights for Ryan so he can build up his reputation and his skill and Campbell is such a good stepping stone, between Haney and Gervonta I like to see him fight Davis first he losses a lot of amateur fights against Haney when they are young
I am expecting Ryan Garcia to fight Devin Haney next and he was present for this fight in the arena and he even expressed his interest in the fight against Garcia. We might even see him fight Jorge Linares next as they were planning to put that fight together last year.

I am not expecting Garcia to fight Gervonta Davis simply because he is under Mayweather promotions and they do not have a good relation with Oscar De La Hoya promotions.

You nailed it, promoters ruined today's boxing.

Campbell just exposed Garcia though he passed this test he may have to endure another one and i think Jorge Linares would be a good fight before eyeing any of that championship belt.
One with a better power punch could knock him cold, Ryan Garcia should be careful with that, maybe he is not paying too much attention to his defense since he was so convince that he can KO his opponent anytime, which is wrong!.

Ryan Garcia shows that he is better than Luke, their fight is pretty good to watch but Campbell goes down by a body shot at 7th round. This only shows how powerful Ryan is but I see that Campbell didn't hope to end this fight by a body shot.

I was expecting that their fight will last to 12 rounds and will end up to split decision but Ryan shows that he has power so congrats for Ryan and for Campbell better luck for your next fight.

I'll be happy to bet on him next fight, even if he will fight a champion, he showed a heart here, he was down but he stand up to beat Campbell. This guy is not only a hype, he is a real deal and promoters are so lucky to have him, I'm seeing great future waiting ahead of him.
It was good to see that Garcia was able to overcome the knock down as he was trying to be too aggressive and he was able to overcome that and win in spectacular fashion. Garcia is just starting and he has a long list of fighters that will test him especially Jorge Linares and Javier Fortuna before stepping up another level against the likes of Teofimo Lopez or Davis.

I'll be watching this fight tomorrow as I have a good feeing that this isn't a one sided fight. I believe Ryan will face probably the toughest fight of his career and if he survives, he might end up winning by decision. I'm excited on this fight, don't have any appointment tomorrow because I'm staying home to watch this.

Not if Campbell can withstand that left hook, after Mike Tyson he is the best fighter I have seen who can place that hook effectively and with the right timing, if Campbell can see the hook coming then he'll have a chance to win Campbell is also good so may the best fighter win tomorrow, I like Ryan to win there are a lot of great things coming to this man, and he is just starting out his journey to greatness.

It could be very competitive in the first couple of rounds, and then after Ryan figure Campbell's movement and power, he will re adjust, it might be a left hook, but I don't know I have a feeling that the body shot will be the biggest weapon of Ryan here as Campbell is open for it. The division is really open for Ryan, Davis will be the biggest fight for him. Oscar said that he want's Garcia vs Davis - Cinco de Mayo explosion.

Another spot on analysis again mate, Garcia went down on the 2nd round, but he come back adjusted his game and  KO Campbell in the 7th  with a body shot!!!.

He was too emotional in that win, Canelo even watching and clapping. That knock down of Garcia was his first, but we has weathered him and taught that he shouldn't get to rush and walk down any of his opponents because he will be caught like that.

Congrats to everyone!!!

Thanks, I would say that Garcia's body shot is the most underrated weapons he has because we are seeing him his left hook as his knock out punch. But since Reynoso has trained him, he has used his body shot even more, just like Canelo (they have the same trainer), that's why I thought that he will be using it more since Campbell is a bit taller that him.

At least, we have seen how Garcia will react if tested, he went down from that vicious left hook, you can see from his reaction that he was caught off guard, but he didn't panic, keep his composure, won every round after that and then KO Campbell.

I don't think they will go for Davis after this, Haney is the weakest champion. It will be good if Garcia vs Davis will happen in Cinco de Mayo, but we will see.

Ryan Garcia has the power, he can KO any boxer if he can throw a clean punch. Though Campbell had a good start but Garcia is just too much for him, he can't handle the power of Garcia while Garcia can handle his because he stand out from an early knock down.

Kudos to this two great fighters, theirs no bad blood between them, they were just smiling after the fight.

They are happy, fans happy, win-win for both parties.  Grin

I am one of those who believe in his power, I have seen how powerful his left hook is, and like what we expected the left hook did the job, Garcia has good timing he unleashes the right hook, just when Campbell was defenseless, congratulation to Garcia he is still undefeated he needs more fights like this.
Well, it looks like Ryan is looking to fight Pacquiao which can be a tough fight for sure but its a long way to go before this thing happened. Anyway, I bet on Garcia for this fight and at a young age, he got a strong power and the result was good for him. I'd watched the fight online and I see how Ryan unleashes a strong punch towards Luke, and that's why Ryan deserve to win.

Was expecting it's a good fight, and I wasn't really wrong. Garcia got knock out early but lucky he was able to come back, damn, the start of the year is good, this two can have a rematch if they like too, I'm sure people would still watch.
It was a good test of character for Ryan Garcia and how he is able to cope up with adversity and he has passed that with flying colors as he was able to come back and recover from the knockdown in the earlier rounds and then regain his composure and then increase the tempo of the fight in later rounds and then win in the seventh round is impressive.
He has a glass chin but he has a good stamina, that's what help him to recover early. Luke Campbell is a KO artist also, but Garcia is quite stronger than him and it was pretty evident in the fight, when Garcia recover from KO, he know he can take the punches of Campbell and he was confident that he can KO him anytime, and it did happen.

I think the odds for 7-9 Garcia as a winner was around @7 or 6.. can't remember but it was a good odds. Hope you guys got it.
