By the odds though, it seems that Tim Tszyu is going to win this fight. But I was surprised on how Tim was really in this fight, I mean yes early on it was a close fight but he slowly gain the momentum and even fight the fight of Harrison, in the inside and he was hit with that job but we have able to overcome it. So it's a A+ performance for him in front of his fans in his home turf. And with this, it's a good tune up fight for him. And the numbers don't like as he hit Harrison with 45% of his power punches, the score on the judges though at the time of stoppage in round 9, Tim leads all the judges 77-75. And he clearly sends his message to Charlo in this win.
Good tune-up fight indeed for Tim before facing Charlo. Have not seen the odds for this fight but i assumed that Tim was the favorite, seeing the fight highlight, it's a close one before Tim deliver those punishing bombs that finished Tony Harrison in the ninth round. The volume of punches was too much for Tony to handle, that's the factor and him taking that 45% of Tim's power punches that KO is inevitable.
Sooner or later, Harrison will really felt the power of Tim and I have the speculation that the weather really affected him in Australia, but that is not an a excuse the better fighter won.
I hope that promoters will now start negotiating for that Charlo vs Tszyu championship fight as it is what the fans wanted to see in the near future.
I think the contract is still in, and if Charlo backs out of this fight, it will be a clear duck and so it will affect his reputation.
Congratulations to Tim Tszyu for a well-deserved win, Tim Tszyu just prove that he is not afraid to take a hit to get a hit, he breaks down Tony Harrison with his jabs, body, and head punches this is a good preparation for the Charlo fight, he is popular in Australia before the fight but after this fight, the boxing world now knows him and he will become even popular if he beats Charlo for his next fight.
That's what I saw in this fight too. Tszyu was not afraid to get hit, probably because he did not respect the power of his opponent. It was his power shots that eventually knocked out his opponent. Although I knew from the beginning that Tszyu was heavily favored to win, I also noticed a weakness in him, which was that he wasn't quick enough to evade his opponent's punches. Anyway, congratulations to him.
The best weapon of Harrison is just the jab, and then Tim has a way to respond, looping right now and just moving his head left and right. So he take 1 shot in the face, but he then threw 1-2 punch in return and it was all power behind that. So perhaps he is willing to get hit, just to dish out his own punishment. But I guess it will be a different strategy against Charlo as obviously, he has more power, so Tim's chin will be tested and see if it can hold up to Charlo's power.
