Tim Tszyu is a tough fighter but Jermell Charlo has faced a lot of tough fighters one of these tough fights is the Harrison fight, Tim deserves this fight because he is the mandatory challenger I have to dig deep to see who got the upper hand as both fighters
are capable of pulling a knockout or a decision, Tim's toughest fight was the Horn fight, we will know in this fight if he will follow in the footstep of his father, who is considered one of Australia's great fighters.

@Baofeng, can you make a poll? So we will see what would be the pulse of the majority here.

Added it mate, thanks for the reminder.
Voted already, I'm expecting that the result is going to be close.

I guess majority will choose  Jermell Charlo to win, so for a change, I will be rooting for Tim Tszyu to win, maybe a 12 rounds decision as these boxers are tough enough to lose in KO.

Yes, this is a tough matchup for Charlo, style makes fight and this one is going to be intriguing because Tszyu will likely to be the aggressor and then Charlo trying to defend himself but will also go to score a knockout. At the same time, Tim's chin is tested, but we will see if the power of Jermell will be enough to at least stop him in his tracks. Otherwise, Tim will go and will come forward specially if he thinks he can take Charlo's power.

That's why I'm thinking, and Charlo has to be careful also as Tim has a high KO rate, 15 KOs in 21 wins, that's a decent rate already IMO. I saw his fight against Horn, we know the style of Horn, he always goes forward, so Tim takes advantage of that as he has the power and at the same time he is quicker than Horn. I know this is different, so let's see if he can continue his undefeated record.

This is a close match up and no doubt they will gonna give us one of the most exciting fights next year. One of them will gonna Spence for sure and also they are not an easy opponent for him. As the time goes by, these guys are improving their boxing skills especially Jermell who came from a solid knockout win from his last fight. I think this is the reason why he is the favorite boxer to win this fight but anything can happen inside the ring, Tim is also have the skills to beat him and might probably win this one unexpectedly.

Charlo by decision for me.

If what others have been saying that stylistically this is going to be a tough match for Charlo then it might go full 12 rounds. Tim might be determined to take the belt and so he will fight on whatever capacity, or maybe fight it dirty and see how Charlo will react or adjust to him roughing and making Charlo not comfortable. That is the only way that Tim could win. But if Charlo adjusted, with the whole fight in hugging, then he might win the rounds with his power and caught the incoming Tszyu with some good potshots like Floyd Mayweather does for fighters trying to come forward against him, straight or left hook.

It's a great start for 2023 two have two of the tough fighters in the superwelterweight, Tim Tszyu deserves to have a crack at the title he has a good record and a good rating I remember him knocking out Jeff Horn, that was the first time I watched him fight his fighting style is similar to his father and he also has a good chin and hard puncher, but I have Jermell with a slight advantage against Tszyu, this is a very tough fight to predict.

charlo can KO with one punch, its highly fair to say betting him by stoppage. that is if he can find a spot to stop Tim from pressuring him.

charlo will be the favored by bookmakers. a lot will probably pick him to win but i'd not also be surprise if he lose either. after Tim beating Horn, he really made a good run knocking the rest at 154.

That is also the probable result I'm seeing, I know that this Tim is not an easy boxer to defeat and so does his record said but I reckon Charlo can find that correct timing to give that knockout punch that will end the fight instantly. Although, maybe it will happen somewhere from round 7 to 10. No doubt Charlo will be the favorite by the bookies here.

This is a great fight, Tim Tszyu is really not scared to fight against Jermell Charlo which is currently undisputed champion on light middleweight division. Although he doesn't risk any belt, but he will take a risk about his clean record.

Based on the bookies, the odds for Tim Tszyu is 3.20 while Jermell Charlo odds is 1.32x, I think the moneyline odds is fine if you bet Tim Tszyu and the bookies also see a chance if Tim Tszyu can pull an upset against Charlo.

Finally, this fight is something to watch for next year. I think  Jermell Charlo will be a slight favorite here as he is the more popular boxer, but Tim Tszyu cannot be underestimated also as he is a great boxer.

Those who are interested in checking their record, they are both undefeated, just check below.

Yes, I agree, Jermell will be the favorite in most of his fight as he is the champion at this division and had the majority of the belts. He is so brandish as well, I guess it's because he can back it up. And although he has a close call against Brian Castano, he defeated him with a spectacular one punch knockout to leave his doubters behind.

Now a new challenge for him, a tough Australian in Tim Tszyu. He shouldn't underestimate him because Tim is also a good boxer and has been really pushing hard in every fight that's why he is a challenger right now for the belt by Charlo.

Tim has the tenacity though, yes he could be like Brian Castano style, but I think he is more finesse, if we could say that. Meaning it could not be all brawl and could used his IQ to offset the power of Jermell and maybe put him in some awkward position just like in the first Castano fight. And that's why others say that Brian won because he put Charlo in one corner and then just try to bust him up. But in the second fight, Charlo has adjusted and fight in the middle that's why Brian head snap from that power of Charlo because Jermell chooses to fight different. But hopefully Tim will get a good account of his father's name and give Charlo a rugged and solid fight.

Right, Tim Tszyu has been taking noise in this division for the last 2 years if I'm not mistaken and wanted to be like his father.

For those who are not familiar with his father, Kostya Tszyu, he is the one that give Zab Judah the infamous stanky legs, LOL. And probably if that happens on the social media days, the Internet would have exploded like when Maidana beat Broner.

I do hope that Tim Tszyu won't be like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. He only have the good name but when he step up and try to fight top rated boxers, he lost.

So this is the chance for the younger Tszyu to become like his father or at least became a good champion from Australia. But Charlo is one scary dude, that power, the way he knocks out Castano in their second fight is brutal.

It is also interesting that fight also coincides with the 28th anniversary of Kostya Tszyu debut in the US against Jake Rodriguez in 1995 to win the IBF light welterweight title.
It wouldn't matter what it coincides with, this is Charlo's fight, he is in the best position to win it. He has better experience in fighting and is not coming straight from recovery from any injury like Tszyu. He has a title to defend and knows well that after Tszyu, some other fighters are equally waiting for the challenge, with his mind set on that, he will ensure to give the other fighters an opportunity with him and will be keen on winning against Tszyu. He has wanted to fight since, and he is finally getting what he wants.

Yes, the fighting style of Tim is very similar to Castano. In the first fight it was a split decision with by Charlo and there are some pundits who says that he lost as the score is SD. So they immediately go at it in the rematch, round 24 but this this Charlo won by knockout

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpQcS2_bzZA

And I think the Castano is a better boxer overall compare to Tszyu. So there could be some adjustment on the side of Charlo in the beginning, because of the pressure and overwhelming style of Tim, but eventually he will be caught by the power of Charlo late in the rounds. So my prediction is that Charlo winning here.

Jermell Charlo vs Tim Tszyu, January 28, 2023, venue to be announce later.

https://box.live/fights/tszyu-vs-harrison/

We have a banger at the start of the year, as Tim Tszyu, the son of legendary Kostya will have his chance against pound for pound Jermell Charlo for the undisputed belt at 154 lbs.

It is also interesting that fight also coincides with the 28th anniversary of Kostya Tszyu debut in the US against Jake Rodriguez in 1995 to win the IBF light welterweight title.

We've also heard that both Crawford and Spence wants to move to 154 lbs, so possible that the winner might get either down the road.

Quote
Regardless of the hardware at stake, all signs point to chaos if these two share the ring. Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KO) has been pure dynamite since suddenly discovering his power in a 2015 wipeout of Joachim Alcine, while Tszyu (21-0, 15 KO) is the sort of physically overwhelming pressure fighter that could provide the same sort of clash of styles that made Charlo’s fights with Brian Castano instant classics.
