Don't you think that Corinthians has been recovering well in its last few games, despite the imminent and perhaps inevitable threat of relegation to Serie B?

I feel that Fortaleza has been declining, it's difficult to maintain consistency even though it's a team in good form, which is why I think this championship is the most successful of the majority, because it's long (it lasts practically the entire year) and the teams wear themselves out a lot.

Yes, for the first time this season I think Corinthians have improved a bit
It could be the reinforcements, the confidence that's slowly returning or even a little bit of luck, but it's already improved
Even yesterday Corinthians finally had a good win, after all Atlético GO are also very bad in the league, in the last spot  Tongue

Those of you who are discouraged about Fortaleza, don't get discouraged so quickly
Yesterday they won 4x1 against Bahia and they're four points off leader Botafogo, there's still a way to go, and Botafogo could have problems at the end of the championship, just like last year.

Unpredictable match between Botafogo and Fluminense until the final minutes. A very important one for both clubs: for Botafogo, the victory was essential to get +3 points distant from second place Palmeiras on the table, while for Fluminense it was the opportunity to climb up on the rank in an attempt to get out from relegation zone. After all, Botafogo did the unexpected in the final minutes of the game, thanks to Gregore and Luiz Henrique who were in the right place at the right time. Gregore took the ball from Fluminense's defender close to the rival's goal area, sent to Luiz Henrique who didn't have to make any effort to score and guarantee the victory for Botafogo!

Let's go, Lonely Star!
Match was fierce and in the final minutes of the second half in extra time Botafogo got 1 goal advantage thanks to Luiz Henrique, with this victory Botafogo managed to get further away or keep the distance for the team below it.
Fluminense did suffer defeat and they failed to add points and avoid the relegation zone but Fluminense still has one postponed match against Athletico Paranaense and this could be an opportunity for Fluminense to get additional points later.
Brazil Serie-A competition still has 10 meetings left for each team that does not have postponed match, so it can be concluded that unexpected results can occur and big surprises will be present, what makes curious is who will really win the title for this season.

Gremio continue to perform up and down. At one point they were at the bottom of the league with just one win from 12 games. They recovered quickly afterwards and scored 13 points from 5 games. With these results, they breathed a sigh of relief. However, in the last games they went down again. Flamengo is in a state of chaos. Tite is being severely criticized. Due to their poor performances in their last games in the league, they have fallen out of the race for the top. On top of that, their loss in the first game of the Libertadores quarterfinals sent the fans into a frenzy. A single point loss here would put them even further away from the championship. Gremio will want to get off to a fast start in this match to get out of the bottom. Flamengo, on the other hand, may respond with the instinct to lose the championship.

The dream is over  Cheesy Cheesy. Now Fortaleza is returning to its normal place. It was a complete distortion for them to have led the Brazilian championship, and the next one to have their dream interrupted will be Botafogo. They will only be champions if Palmeiras does a lot of things wrong in the remaining games. I don't see either Botafogo or Fortaleza taking the championship this year.
I don't know which team you support, but I'm relieved to read your opinion and with that reinforcing the title of the three-time championship for brazil's favorite green team, Palmeiras is a surprising team, maybe I'll go back to betting on them and Flamengo, since they've been maintaining consistency in their last games, despite the mess in Flamengo's last game.

thank you for sharing these links
this is all really interesting
nice to learn a bit more about one of the biggest teams in Brazil too

interesting to see they monetizing on the fans and as I suspected the biggest revenue sources are marketing campaigns and placement.

Yes, it is a gold mine that was previously unexplored. The brand of a big club and everything that involves it generates a lot of revenue, licensing, broadcast TV contracts, pay-per-view, members, shirts... it really is a lot. Now there is the issue of the stadium. Until now, Flamengo paid to play. Soon, with its own stadium, it will collect all the ticket sales and only have to cover operating costs. And it is not uncommon for a match to generate more than R$1 million in ticket sales. Good management makes a big difference, without the need for SAF or anything like that. It is a shame that not all clubs see this and the old policy continues.

do we have any other cases like that in Brazil, even with smaller numbers?
why do you think other clubs don't see such a big success as Flamengo even though some are even placed better in the rankings and all

curious to see

Fortaleza suffering the loss on Sudamerican cup, if they go out of that competition they can be in a big trouble, you know is a big blow to the faith of the players being out of that international tournament, when they started it in a super way.

It's the famous Jabuti, nobody knows how he got there, but he's there. Now they're coming back to reality, unfortunately. I hope they play well away from home, because they're going to need it. Otherwise, it will be the beginning of a big crisis for the team.

The Brazilian Seria A has lots a lot of good whole teams I used to bet and hold highly of and one of which is Santos and even Gremio although there are still in the top flight but not as they used to perform and aslo for Corinthians I hope they get back in stride although like you said they have been showing promising signs and most especially in their previous games. Corinthians with this kind of gameplay would be ready although I was a bit surprised to see flamengo lose out in the Copa game they played .

it is interesting indeed
do you think having someone as Ronaldo who knows a lot about football owning a full team would change anything on the direction of the team?
what a team owner actually do, I mean, how much they can interfere with technical decisions?

this got me curious.
are teams always profitable too?

The difference is that Ronaldo, besides knowing a lot about football, is a mega businessman with a lot of experience in negotiations and business management, so when Cruzeiro was sold, it was a unique opportunity for him to put all his knowledge of management and sports into practice.

As for his influence on technical decisions, I don't think so. A professional manager like him knows that if he gets involved in other sectors, the chances of things going wrong are huge. He hires people he trusts and lets the work flow... football teams are a money-making machine when they are well managed. Just look at the case of Flamengo, which went from bankrupt to one of the richest teams in Brazil... results achieved through good management, nothing more.

interesting, do you know of any case studies or published papers or infographics showing Flamengo's situation from bankrupt to profitable?
would love to see

and regarding Ronaldo, what you said makes a lot of sense

Flamengo was an extremely successful case. It all started with the revolution in the management of president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, who, as I recall, finally decided to sort out the club's finances. At the time, he even calmed the fans by saying that we would go through difficult times and would not have a team that was competitive enough to win titles. However, over time, Flamengo would become the strongest club in the Americas. It was all a project and a very successful one.

Great, I'll definitely leave my complaint about Fortaleza in this other thread too! Thanks! And about their performance, they'll need to be a thousand times better team to handle the pressure both in the next game with Corinthians and to stay at the top of the Brasileirão.

Now that the transfer window has closed and Corinthians have finished making signings and changes, it's going to be the decisive part for the team to work
The time will come to find out whether it will have the expected effect or not
I think Corinthians have lost the Brasileirao already (about chances of Libertadores and Sudamericana zone), but the other teams at the bottom of the table are also so bad that they could help Corinthians save themselves

It's a shame to have a millionaire team, with players earning a lot of money, and not even be able to get out of the relegation zone

At this point that clause is already valid around 70% because I personally cannot see Corinthians saving themselves this season but the players will fight to avoid relegation with all their powers. However , it's kinda in vain as long as this club doesn't have financial power to sustain itself , it also need to sell some players and they don't have any budget for new transfers ...so basically all indicators are pointing towards Serie B for this team and a full reconstruction.  Sad

The situation isn't good, but at least the club has managed to sign a few new players, now it's time to get down to work and for the players to work a little harder to get some wins

After yesterday's game against Corinthians, despite it being another championship, Fortaleza simply did nothing. It looked like amateur football. The team lacked everything, even simple passes were being missed, and all this while playing at home. Last year they made it to the final, but this year Fortaleza won't get very far playing like this.

This game Memphis needs to show what he came for and boost the team's morale. Otherwise, he will only shine in the B series next year, if there is a next year. I think it's hard for him to want to stay here in a championship below.

So take a look at this:

The reason is a clause in the Dutchman's contract to terminate his contract free of charge if the team finishes the Brazilian Championship relegated to Serie B

If Corinthians are relegated, both could terminate their contracts  Cheesy

Fortaleza definitely has no chance of becoming champion. They were lucky to get this far, but now they are falling and are returning to the position they belong

In my opinion, it's too early to say that Fortaleza don't have a chance of becoming champions, because after all, they're four points behind leader Botafogo
There are still 12 games to play, with 36 points up in dispute
Every point is important for the final leg, but there's still time

Fortaleza still have a game against Palmeiras, who are in second place, so it's a very important match, and if they win, it could put pressure on Botafogo
And Botafogo also have a game against Palmeiras

It could be that these matches between the three will be the difference between the champion and the winner  Shocked
