I am going to do some commonsensical deductive reasoning.  I may not know wth I am talking about, but indulge me for a sec:

A few days ago, that 194,993 BTC transaction worth $147m was processed.  At the time, I doubt any exchange had the cash on-hand to fill it.  So, BTC-e (?) hoarded cash inflows, filled the sell order, and now they are liquidating those BTC to repay whatever bridge loan they may have also required and to fund the back-log of deposits.

If I am correct (or close), then BTC should take a rather dramatic dip over the coming days.

sour deal at btc-e.. i don't know the reasons why, but it's $100 below other exchanges... it's probably not the best place to buy.

$100 cheaper = not the best place to buy Huh

sorry, brainfart. i am trying to get ahold of some litecoin with BTC.. but then again, LTC seems to be under the spot price of most other exchanges too.

I think BTC-e has the best LTC/BTC rate at the moment.

Oтвeт oт coбcтвeнникa здecь oбъяcняя, кaкиe ecть пpoблeмы, чтo былo бы пoлeзнo.

Crap!  I just sent two wires of $5k each on Friday.  I wish I would have read about the problems here first.  Most news articles suggested they were reputable and established.  The USD price is more favorable, too.

That was a test wire (although I wish I'd have sent just one rather than two) and I've got more money primed to go; but perhaps I will use another exchange if my funds don't show by Monday.

A response from the proprietor (OP) here explaining what the problems are sure would be helpful.  I can live with the withdraw hold after I buy coin, but the taking so long to deposit is killing me.  Prices just keep going up dramatically!

I was a very good customer from btc-e for the last year or so.

I am afraid I have to confirm that they eventually stole a couple of hunderd LTC from me.

After ignoring me for a week, so called "Support" just closed my ticket without as much as a response.

I just withdrew my last moneys from this exchange because I have lost trust and am done with them.

So I guess after hearing more then 5 confirmations with large sums of money or a small amount.

This exchange is no longer a great place to buy btc, ltc or even worth it.

at this point, it seems the best way is to get BTC into your btc-e wallet.. that's if you want any of the alt currencies they provide?

I have deposited $500 by wire transfer and it landed on my btc-e account within 24 hours, which was very nice.
I have bought some BTC and wanted to withdraw BTC but then it says Money hold. 702 hours left

*Depositing money through the wire transfer. The time of the hold is from 1 month. It can be removed by providing your IDs through the ticket.

That's ok.

What actually made me think is that two days ago the minimum deposit was $500, but after they received it, today the minimum deposit (min sum allowed) is $2,000
It looks like "hey, the first transfer went ok, send us the next now... with more money".

Any comments on this?

What's sad about the 1 month hold is they say if you submit ID and Utility they will remove but I can confirm submitting multiple times to no avail. They will make you wait at least 1 month. DO NOT wire money unless you're fine waiting that long to be able to withdraw USD and COINS (They hold everything). So in addition to waiting for them to credit your account they will make you wait another month to withdraw anything. If your fine leaving your cash in an exchange for 2 months then more power to you for the huge pair but seems like every week one is either hacked or implodes...

At this right moment I believe I beat you guys on the waiting time to get my money credited into my  account. I am going into the 16th day of waiting for my wire to be credited into BTC-E account.

I believe we should start making a table, where we list the longest present waiting times waiting to have your fiat money credited into BTC-E. We may change it when solution has finally come.

I will start:

Would love to see PPC/USD on BTC-e.  It's the third largest coin and I see there is markets for much smaller coins like NVC on BTC-e at the moment.   It's getting great coverage of late in WSJ, CNBC and the like and the last week has seen it really shoot up compared to even Bitcoin.  I think you can infer from the volume of BTC/PPC transactions[1] that there would be an appetite for this market as well.
