I recently made some money through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, and I'm considering using it to purchase some Bitcoin. Only a tiny sum, roughly $800, is involved. What do you suggest doing right now? Purchase some Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency with a promising future.

What replacement coins would you recommend?
Never seek for replacement when it is about Bitcoin mate , try to believe in the benefits of Bitcoin .
you can add some but never take big part from your Bitcoin holding .
Buy more and more Bitcoin but only bring small amount to altcoins , this will keep your funds safely for long term .
Keep your mind up for the top coin  mate .
This is how portfolio needs to be created. The bitcoin holding needs to be big against the buying of altcoins. If you spend $70 buying bitcoin, spending $30 seems to be fair. It is evident that some altcoins give better ROI against bitcoin. For the same we can't be sure of the growth whereas the same will be assured with bitcoin.
diversification but will always be favoring bitcoin , this is how we must treat our folio and yes 70/30 is either supported by majority than a few because this will serve winnings in long term.

I don't find any altcoins to spend, but my choice will be on low price altcoins within the top 100 list. With altcoin investment we need to be close observing, if not we might end up missing opportunities which is hard to come again.
well, top listed coins isn't that hard to trust our investments at least try to put money in top 3? or top 5 for safer fund investing.

Did I hear it right that altcoins can give a better ROI than in Bitcoin? HHmm I am not sure if I can agree with that. Maybe they only focus on the current status of BTC but they didn't calculate right at the beginning when BTC is still valued at under a cent. Can any altcoin start from zero up to 69k dollars?

I never seen one yet but the only crypto that can do that so far is Bitcoin. A lot of people think that altcoins can increase faster than in BTC. They only focus on the gains but they didn't knew that altcoins that act like that are mostly pump and dump which later on can turned into a scam once the devs or the whales already trapped a lot of people inside it.

It is important that people watch their bags of altcoins very carefully as I have known of cases in which people bought some coins and then they made no effort at all to update themselves about the state of their investment for months or even a year, and then they were surprised to find out the coins they invested in had already collapsed and disappeared, and without a doubt this is very irresponsible because as we know altcoins can disappear incredibly quickly thanks to their volatile nature.

a mature plan to settle down holding bitcoin sometimes switches to other choices because it gets stuck in a FOMO increase of 1000x which doesn't match the results. which is definitely the main bitcoin for the long term from now on and no doubt about it. allocate altcoins only 30% nascent project clear

Both are good investments to be honest, however, since Bitcoin is the prime mover of crypto and has the most support if I'm not mistaken, the consensus from this community and even a whole nation is behind, it's no brainer that we should make it as a priority. Besides, altcoin are very volatile compare to Bitcoin, although if you get lucky, you might find a gem that will give you a huge profits like x50 or more if you time and find the correct altcoin to invest.

But in any case, if you are looking for a steady growth throughout the years and as pointed by the majority, for long term. There is no doubt that Bitcoin is the best investment for everyone. You just have to establish a good strategy in this bear market to buy and accumulate and then have a strong mentality to hold and wait for the right time to sell at all time high.

Bitcoin is safe coin and it is backbone of all crypto and I think the only decentralized coin which has no admin and totally control by people. Although some big whales entered like micro strategy but still we can say that it is safe coin and for long term it is more better than other coins.
Altcoins profit is very fast and greater than Bitcoin but it's very hard to choose best altcoin because recently big coins like Luna and Ftt crashed and your all money can be down.
Yes Bitcoin is always a long term investment choice because it is much safer than other coins,
so at least for myself I have no qualms on Bitcoin to invest long term,
for altcoins, we really need to work harder by doing our own research

I'd say ethereum, with $800 you would get close to 1 eth. I see it going back to its previous highs of ~5k, so it would be nice profit.

No admin? Uhmm I think there is. What about Satoshi Nakamoto? Don't tell me you are thinking that Satoshi is already dead? No no no, don't think like that. We should be positive and hope that he/she/they are/is still fine because if not because of him/her/them then we won't have some of the things that we have now. But I agree that BTC might be the most decentralized crypto among all.

Even though it's known that Satoshi Nakamoto had some good number of BTC in his/her/their wallet. He/she/they never sold it because he/she/they knew that it will scare us and he/she/they do not want that to happen while that is something that other coins devs cant do but their main purpose on why they join crypto is only to earn money.
We cant make any conclusions yet Satoshi's existence is always been a mystery whether this one is a single identity or a group of people who are in works. We dont even know if he's
dead or just simply observing out the market that he had made on the time of the creation of Bitcoin. It did become so big and recognition and adoption do fly into those huge numbers.
Speaking about altcoin then from the word alt then it would really be just remain as an alternative. If you are investor then its up to you whether you would recognize or consider
out on making investment with these coins but honestly it isnt really that a bad idea.

In cryptocurrency your best bet will be always bitcoin. It's fine if you invest all your funds (800$) in BTC, because it's bitcoin which drives this market in every directions. It means that for an altcoin to have its price increased, bitcoin will have its price risen first. Bitcoin is the cause, altcoins are the effect, and that is how crypto market has been working since the beginning.

And considering how cheap bitcoin is right now, I wouldn't think twice before investing on it. The potential of bitcoin's price in 2 years from now is higher than assets in any other investments' fields.
In other words, it's better to buy now than never and speculate in the end to miss again.
it is true that bitcoin is the main choice for investment in the current situation at such a cheap price. but sometimes investors want to get more profit and take altcoins.
so the best solution is to choose bitcoin as the main asset and ethereum as the altcoin asset. both are very good for the long term and have huge fundamentals.
One of the main problems that investors have is that they are unable of nuance when it comes to their investments, they either treat bitcoin like an altcoin or they treat altcoins as if they were holding bitcoin, and both of those postures are a mistake, bitcoin needs a special treatment, as it is the best coin in the market then there is no problem if you miss a window of opportunity as another could always open in the future, but when it comes to altcoins this is not necessarily true, and you need to be very vigilant to not miss that window or otherwise you could lose everything that you invested in that coin.

sometimes everyone delays because they want to get even cheaper even though they won't necessarily get it, speculating is of course fine but also thinking about the time consumed by delaying because it's not certain that the price will actually be cheaper.
bitcoin is indeed the best choice and ethereum is definitely the choice for altcoins, now it's up to you to decide what to do. for me both have the same good chance compared to the others, but it's true what the friend said above that bitcoin is indeed very good.

if i were you much better to rely which still reliable and surely you can get a good return afterwards than seeking for new investment especially when it comes to alts that so unpredictable even though you see it good and very promising..
so this is Bitcoin I think? because you are referring to reliable and that is Bitcoin surely ?

well that is good advice if I will be taking it my place .

I would suggest to focus on your first coin then second option is bitcoin since it still down..

lol first coin will be nothing gonna close if Bitcoin starts to maneuver because in the year coming (at least 2 years from now) this coin will make it to the top and those mentioned coins will only go smaller before bitcoin.

If you're thinking about getting into crypto, you might want to start with Bitcoin. It's the OG of the crypto world, so it might be a good place to start. Just don't expect to see huge price gains overnight - the crypto market can be volatile, so be prepared for some ups and downs. If you're interested in exploring other coins, go for it, but make sure you do your research and understand the risks before you invest.

Also you can use a small portion of that money to try and learn the market and its features with alt coins.
Missing the selling point is a common mistake in the crypto world. A lot of people assume that they could make some profit and they wait and wait and wait, and they miss the selling point assuming that it will keep going even higher and eventually it starts to crash and now they are holding a bag.

This happens more commonly than people think, I do it all the time because I hold it for years and that means no matter how many times it breaks over ATH, I will always hold it and that means I won't be profiting. I could have sold at 68k and buy now and have so much more bitcoins, even as a long term holder that would be great but it's not easy to know when that time is.
Yes it is very common which is why we must assume that we will be part of those people as well, and as such buying bitcoin and holding it long term makes more sense, many people buy altcoins thinking they are going to be one of the few that will get the timing right and make a lot of money by buying an altcoin for a cheap price and then selling it at its highest point, but it rarely works like that, and in many cases those people become bag holders of useless tokens as they simply refuse to sell their coins at any price.
That is the main advantage of investing in bitcoin, instead of altcoins: you don't need to worry about selling in time, because even if you lose an opportunity, you just have to continue holding until bitcoin pumps again. The most classical example are investors who didn't sell their btcs at the ATH of 2017, and saw their investments melting from 19,000$ to 3000$ in a year. However, those who didn't panic selling, had a new opportunity in 2020 and 2021, as the tendency changed and we had a new bull run. On the other hand, the same can't be said about most altcoins, as they don't have the same recovery potential of bitcoin.

yes it actually depends on you as an investor, but if I were in your position, I would buy bitcoin because this is the right time, maybe in February everything will go up again, many think so. Let's hope that no negative news can affect the price of all cryptocurrencies in the coming year. keep thinking positive in the next year Cheesy,
