I recently made some money through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, and I'm considering using it to purchase some Bitcoin. Only a tiny sum, roughly $800, is involved. What do you suggest doing right now? Purchase some Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency with a promising future.

What replacement coins would you recommend?
Bitcoin is safe coin and it is backbone of all crypto and I think the only decentralized coin which has no admin and totally control by people. Although some big whales entered like micro strategy but still we can say that it is safe coin and for long term it is more better than other coins.
Altcoins profit is very fast and greater than Bitcoin but it's very hard to choose best altcoin because recently big coins like Luna and Ftt crashed and your all money can be down.

In cryptocurrency your best bet will be always bitcoin. It's fine if you invest all your funds (800$) in BTC, because it's bitcoin which drives this market in every directions. It means that for an altcoin to have its price increased, bitcoin will have its price risen first. Bitcoin is the cause, altcoins are the effect, and that is how crypto market has been working since the beginning.

And considering how cheap bitcoin is right now, I wouldn't think twice before investing on it. The potential of bitcoin's price in 2 years from now is higher than assets in any other investments' fields.
In other words, it's better to buy now than never and speculate in the end to miss again.
it is true that bitcoin is the main choice for investment in the current situation at such a cheap price. but sometimes investors want to get more profit and take altcoins.
so the best solution is to choose bitcoin as the main asset and ethereum as the altcoin asset. both are very good for the long term and have huge fundamentals.
sometimes everyone delays because they want to get even cheaper even though they won't necessarily get it, speculating is of course fine but also thinking about the time consumed by delaying because it's not certain that the price will actually be cheaper.
bitcoin is indeed the best choice and ethereum is definitely the choice for altcoins, now it's up to you to decide what to do. for me both have the same good chance compared to the others, but it's true what the friend said above that bitcoin is indeed very good.

if i were you much better to rely which still reliable and surely you can get a good return afterwards than seeking for new investment especially when it comes to alts that so unpredictable even though you see it good and very promising..
so this is Bitcoin I think? because you are referring to reliable and that is Bitcoin surely ?

well that is good advice if I will be taking it my place .

I would suggest to focus on your first coin then second option is bitcoin since it still down..

lol first coin will be nothing gonna close if Bitcoin starts to maneuver because in the year coming (at least 2 years from now) this coin will make it to the top and those mentioned coins will only go smaller before bitcoin.

If you're thinking about getting into crypto, you might want to start with Bitcoin. It's the OG of the crypto world, so it might be a good place to start. Just don't expect to see huge price gains overnight - the crypto market can be volatile, so be prepared for some ups and downs. If you're interested in exploring other coins, go for it, but make sure you do your research and understand the risks before you invest.

Also you can use a small portion of that money to try and learn the market and its features with alt coins.
Missing the selling point is a common mistake in the crypto world. A lot of people assume that they could make some profit and they wait and wait and wait, and they miss the selling point assuming that it will keep going even higher and eventually it starts to crash and now they are holding a bag.

This happens more commonly than people think, I do it all the time because I hold it for years and that means no matter how many times it breaks over ATH, I will always hold it and that means I won't be profiting. I could have sold at 68k and buy now and have so much more bitcoins, even as a long term holder that would be great but it's not easy to know when that time is.
Yes it is very common which is why we must assume that we will be part of those people as well, and as such buying bitcoin and holding it long term makes more sense, many people buy altcoins thinking they are going to be one of the few that will get the timing right and make a lot of money by buying an altcoin for a cheap price and then selling it at its highest point, but it rarely works like that, and in many cases those people become bag holders of useless tokens as they simply refuse to sell their coins at any price.
That is the main advantage of investing in bitcoin, instead of altcoins: you don't need to worry about selling in time, because even if you lose an opportunity, you just have to continue holding until bitcoin pumps again. The most classical example are investors who didn't sell their btcs at the ATH of 2017, and saw their investments melting from 19,000$ to 3000$ in a year. However, those who didn't panic selling, had a new opportunity in 2020 and 2021, as the tendency changed and we had a new bull run. On the other hand, the same can't be said about most altcoins, as they don't have the same recovery potential of bitcoin.

yes it actually depends on you as an investor, but if I were in your position, I would buy bitcoin because this is the right time, maybe in February everything will go up again, many think so. Let's hope that no negative news can affect the price of all cryptocurrencies in the coming year. keep thinking positive in the next year Cheesy,

Altcoins can be good equity investments but when compared to Bitcoin, Bitcoin is the best. We know that many types of altcoins are constantly coming to the crypto market, many of them are surviving and many are disappearing. But Bitcoin is in the same position. Maybe because of the bearish market the prices reduce massively. while the dominating coins like FTX and Luna were in crisis, so noting is good compare to the bitcoin. But with BTC there is no such concern. If the market is bullish it will again touch the new all time high.
When made a comparison it is always bitcoin. However having a diversified investment will keep things in a better position than just having our holdings in bitcoin. When the investment priority is to bitcoin, we'll have low risk whereas with altcoins we'll have risk of losing. Few of the reasons were mentioned, so while choosing the altcoins and the term we need to be very careful.
That depends to someone on how they manage their investment, whether it's a Bitcoin or altcoins or even if it's a promising altcoin, once they don't know when to to sell the risk of losing is always high. Investors should know what they were investing and learn how their market works to minimize the risk of losing.

Diversifying is better but it all boils down to someone on how knowledgeable they are with the market plus playing with the pump and dump altcoins to trade and get profit is better if you know what coins you have to invest.

It is cheaper right now but unfortunately greedy people are spreading fake hope about getting more cheaper prices to invest with. This is the reason that most of the investors are still hesitating and waiting with their capital. I would say that the current times could be the best for grabbing bitcoin for the prices less than $17k in our life time. Yeah, we may not see bitcoin prices to be trading below $17 forever after 2022.

I never have any dilemma about to choose bitcoin or altcoins because I do always have separate funds for altcoin investments like 80% of my available funds are for buying bitcoins at dips and the remaining 20% is alone for altcoins and I do hold more than 10 altcoins right now.

If someone think that price of bitcoin will go further down from here and its still risky to buy bitcoin at current price then he should start doing DCA Dollar Cost Averaging. Its very obvious that we dont know whats the bottom. We wake up someday and see that price of bitcoin is rising, its late to buy bitcoin by then.
For me bitcoin is the only choice of investemnt when it comes to crypto. There is no need to invest in alts as they go up only when bitcoin goes up. So its better to keep your investment to bitcoin only.

the action you want to take from the money earned on Amazon to spend into crypto, is definitely something very good and certainly an action that needs to be appreciated.
but you also have to remember that what you are going to spend right now is likely to stay in crypto for a long time.
because indeed the current situation is very good for shopping but it is not very good to wait for prices to increase.

with funds that are not large it looks like you have to change to be able to buy bitcoin, it's better to focus on buying Ethereum and BNB only, because the funds you have will be able to see the value. but this is just my opinion, in the end it all depends on you, and you can do an analysis that can be seen at CMC.

It could be both, depends on your specifications on how you put your venture with but definitely I would go to BTC hence this is the buy zone of bitcoin right now due to bad market sentiments. Some altcoins are worth it too, any top 10 on CMC is nice to buy and hold too.
Bitcoin will always be my choice no matter what altcoin may bring me , but of course if we can diversify then why need to choose one? i am for diversification as I am holding altcoins(with best potential of course) than pure bitcoin or pure altcoin , as remember never put your eggs in single basket.
I think that saying about diversification is good to follow for someone who prioritize tokens and some random altcoins because both of these are risky. By diversifying, it allows them to reduce their risks. For BTC. It's definitely fine if you are going to all in your funds in it. This coin has no issues as long as we know how to HODL strongly so that we can survive any bear markets and unexpected fall on the price due to some circumstances.

Another reason on why going solo for BTC is good is because some cryptos can only depend on the performance of BTC. Matic, Tron and BNB are top altcoins and just like Bitcoins. You can also HODL them for longer terms.

If you hodl your money 2 to 5+ years than go for Bitcoin, Because Bitcoin is best option for long term investment without any doubt.

For short term invest go for altcoin like Matic,Tron,BNB etc.
practical way , buy bitcoin for long term and altcoin if short term.

Of course, you can't build a large portfolio on $800. It depends on what goals you are pursuing with your investments. If you want to preserve the value of your money over time, then invest in bitcoin, and if you want to multiply capital, then altcoins. I might also suggest the option of investing simultaneously in bitcoin and altcoins if you plan to add investments in cryptocurrencies in the future.

IMHO.

I would say there are two communities, i.e. bitcoin and altcoins. For somehow, my trust over the time is limited only to bitcoin, since alrcoins move up only when bitcoin goes up. What's the point in investing in Eth as it will only go up when bitcoin goes and vice verse? Moreover altcoins are subject to crash like we saw Luna this year. DYOR before making any decision.

Not all altcoins are subject to this rule. There are altcoins that can grow even when bitcoin, and other altcoins along with it, are falling in value. In other words, their price is almost independent of whether the market is bearish or bullish. Such altcoins are not a lot, but nevertheless they are present on the market.
