Once the due debt on my balance sheet gets near 10 BTC (it should happen within a month or two if difficulty doesn't skyrocket), presuming that BTC exchange rate increases a bit, I would be interesting in forming a group to hire a lawyer in the UK.

I'm pretty serious about this. If something really bad happened, at least, we have chances to find out about it.

Anyone else (seriously) interested?

Yes. I have over 10,000 DMS.SELLING shares.

I've PM'ed evilscoop on the litecoin forums again, asking him for a name for Deprived (last time I just asked if he knew where he was). I *think* Woodrake knows Deprived but she isn't back yet.

BTW, I am in Australia. It would be ideal if we had someone in the UK to pursue this. However, I have retained a lawyer there once before for another matter and it did work fairly well via email.

I've had some other comms with Deprived a few months ago, but he hasn't been responsive for me either.

I'm just crossing my fingers he's simply not gonna come back til he can list on CipherTrade for real.

From my conversations with him, he didn't seem much like the type to screw people over, but that's just an impression.

now CipherTrade open beta has been launched. Should we feel better or worse?

Well, I wasn't expecting Deprived to reappear anyway, so I'm feeling slightly better, if that makes sense.

The other forum member here did not respond to my request for a name for Deprived so either they were full of it or don't see a need to help us out (I know he/she has logged in since my PM).

At last, it is with great pleasure, and a huge sigh of relief, I can announce that the beta platform is available for all to test....

Before I give you the url, I must point out a few things :-
The chat box is not functional at present
There are no t&c's in place
The coins etc are all on testnet
The securities are dummy testing ones
With all that said please head over to :-

https://beta.ciphertrade.com

And make an account...have a play, and post any issues, concerns etc to the forum link at the top.

Regards
Giles (aka evilscoop)

usagi last login 10th december.
Deprived has eloped with Usagi and funds

Deprived
creativex
Usagi
John K.

So many prominent members of this forum have gone missing.

There's no obvious link between them IMHO

Usagi was having trouble around the time when the btc stock exchanges closed back in oct-nov with his loan on btcjam and was behind, but it looks like he have been working hard on sorting things since then and has been paying off the loan at btcjam bit by bit and have now paid the whole loan off.

For those interested in keeping track of their missing MINING dividends, you can make a copy of my Google spreadsheet

If anyone is interested in buying his debt... let me know Undecided I could use the BTC to mine (for real)

And it's a conservative est. because I simplified calculations assuming diff change at midnight the day of the change

I'm holding 10,000+ DMS.SELLING shares, so if anyone would be interested in getting together for some action I'm all ears.
I think we should wait a little bit longer with potential legal action for the CipherTrade/woodrake situation to resolve.

Running a virtual fund is grey, run with money is definitely black and will trigger witch hunting.

If he really want to pretend nothing happened, he could silently distribute the BTC left and hand over the fund to Ciphermine, that's much better.
Well, this makes sense.
Though I still can't imagine what's keeping him, then. Didn't he have a dead man's switch?

I am afraid not. I believe only he has the private key of that public address.

The most weird thing, in my opinion, is this just happened couple of days after his first disappearance, which had already caused a lot of worries.

We would be much less worried if he logged in periodically and kept quiet.
Obviously wrong.
People would still ask "why does he login and don't even bother to say what's going on?".

No, to me Deprived is either dead, seriously injured, in prison, or hide somewhere for some reasons. There's no reason to think he's a scammer. It's just 150 BTC and he had much more before. Therefore, if there's some login record to prove he's still alive, I may feel angry but not worried.
But:
1. just logging in doesn't prove he's alive and well
2. you would still ask why, if he's able to log, he doesn't bother to post

My personal bet is on "the lawyer told him to just run, and he did", i.e. he likely wasn't ill intended, but he might have been partially forced to pretend all of this didn't exist.
That's just a wild guess, of course.

Run silently will only make the situation much worse, so I don't think any lawyer will make that suggestion. For example, burnside tried his best to return all BTC back, even the dust left. Any complain will make he in a worse situation. Running a virtual fund is grey, run with money is definitely black and will trigger witch hunting.

I would be surprised if his absence is for legal reasons related to DMS. Deprived is from the UK and so is the whole CipherMine operation, which has had much more public attention, yet is still running. If the UK authorities would be cracking down on virtual securities like they did in the US, I would expect they'd go after the more visible company with physical assets and presence that actually sells shares of itself rather than what is in essence a form of escrowed bet.

Hi Guys,

I'm in the UK.  Does anyone need me to do some investigating?

What do you propose? Are you a DMS.* asset owner?

Yes, not allot but yes.

Cool. I have just PM'ed a user on this forum who claimed back in November that he had an email address and real name for Deprived. If he comes through with something that will give you a good head start.

Once we have a real name working out a last-known address should be fairly straightforward. Hopefully it's somewhere not too far from you.

I know that he might magically resurface when CM.B1 is liquid and all will be well, but I don't think that an almost 2-month absence with no warning holding several hundred BTC worth of assets merits no cause for concern. It's not in keeping with how he operated DMS.* or LTC-ATF before his disappearances, either. He's far too argumentative and opinionated to be quiet for so long.
Agree.

Just one thing, it's not just quite but no login at all, on both bitcointalk and litecointalk. We would be much less worried if he logged in periodically and kept quiet.
