Hi guys

I'm new to BTCD.....I just can't ignore James's work here, its amazing

Can anyone point me in the right direction for info about multipool mining?

I've checked both pools listed here, but there info is pretty limited if your not a teckie.

Thank you  Jon

Dammit James!

I keep buying and buying!

I didnt even have enough to spend on my normal purchases and the guy i buy BTCs off didnt have any  Cry Cry Cry Cry

Now i have to find another way to get more LOL
I am exchanging 150 NXT for BTCD, today
This rate will continue to increase for a while

James

P.S. this is more for public service for those that want to dump NXT for whatever reason. I will try to maintain an orderly market with the exchange rate reflecting the value and not necessarily whatever the current crazy markets pricings are

I just looked at DRK price. No wonder we had a visit from that troll guy. methinks the pirates are making impact on people's expectations from anon coins. cloak went almost to top 10 and below 50% BTCD marketcap before I even had a chance to look at it in depth. now seems to be no need. Even the much talked about XMR and X2 are just a close distance away.

Kind of sad to see such a big drop in DRK, it is after all like a relative of BTCD

When I predicted BTCD price > DRK, many people were skeptical.
Now DRK is just a little bit above BTCD alltime high price and while current BTCD price is a bit weak due to weekend and lack of buying volume, there really isnt much inventory available at these lower prices. Any amount of buying and we are back to .0045+

So, with PR due next week, along with test teleports, it seems likely to me that we could see BTCD > DRK sometime next week. Of course there are a lot more DRK than BTCD so it will take us a little while longer for BTCD marketcap > DRK. For that we would need to have a nice GUI with working teleport of BTC.

In my opinion if someone don't know how much should he donate.
http://bitcoindark.net/development-pot
Little math 1.6 milion coins guys need 5 k
So if you own 100 k it should be 312.5 BTCD
But let's double it ( ' let say somebody don't know he should donate' )
So
100k           BTCD = 625   BTCD
10k             BTCD = 62.5  BTCD
(1k) 1000    BTCD = 6.25  BTCD
Is it bad idea ?

approve, but people might just be in holidays right now or getting a heartattack  Cheesy

No reason to get a heart attack   Wink

Whenever you get a new address, you need to backup the wallet. Or you can do a:
dumpprivkey

that will display the privatekey and from that the rest of the info can be recreated when you import it

With telepods, you will be creating new addresses each time you get a telepod. In general it is a good idea to make a local backup whenever you get any new address. USB or encrypted online backup whenever you have received enough new BTCD that you would not like it if it is gone.

James

P.S. To the person that wanted plain english, I have been trying to speak normally, I just cant tell so well if what I am saying is easy or hard to understand. So if there is any specific question about anything, just ask

You broke this one down nicely James.   Smiley

One more question then...... what are the security risks involved with having a wallet unlocked for staking?  If none, I guess I'd just like to know the difference between a locked and an unlocked wallet?

a wallet unlocked only for staking can only stake, to do transaction you will still have to type in your passphrase.
after encrypting your wallet it will always be locked (you cant do anything besides looking) until you unlock it by entering your passphrase - at this point you can do what you want.

so its really important to always encrypt the wallet.
and for more security while staking you can unlock your wallet only for staking.

/edit

i.e. you have your wallet (completely) unlocked for the purpose of staking: whoever gains access to your computer could steal all your funds (without the need of your passphrase)

I know as far as other QT wallets go, as long as you have the .dat file then all associated addresses will show up. No new backups are needed.

It depends on how it implements change addresses.

That's how i understand it, but didn't want to spout misinformation.  Thanks rlhead!

Under what circumstances, if any, would a new wallet.dat backup be necessary?

The only reason I ever backup a new .dat file is if I create a new wallet. If someone knows of another reason why one would need to backup the same .dat file then I would also like to know. Maybe I've missed something. It would be good to get a definitive answer.
