Though BFL's CEO's felonious past raised an eyebrow for me, I've already read plenty of substantiated reports of people receiving their BFL Jalapenos. I don't think BFL is a scam, though taking preorders for a product 1+ year out, the funds of which were likely used to support ongoing R&D, is not something I would do, personally, as a businessperson.
Overall though, regardless if BFL starts shipping the rest of their preorders out in a timely fashion - with other BTC ASIC companies coming on board and their products going online.....I see the BTC mining difficulty to rise exponentially by this Christmas, making ASIC purchases in 2013 a potentially risky proposition if one is seeking to recoup the value of their investment in less than a year.

I'm hoping I won't have to make the change, seeing as my best friend/roommate will be here a few months longer than I will and won't have to bother BFL about it... either way the whole situation makes me far more nervous than I should be.
When I placed my order which was late Feb, they stated they were in the final stages for shipping; we are now past mid May. I cancelled my order through paypal early April as there were further delays and no guarantees made for delivery.
My advice is get in touch with them to see if its possible to change address, or cancel your order if you paid via CC or paypal.
I have had an order a month ago from Enterpoint, paid a small deposit for some boards and today I paid in full to be delivered by this week; manufacturing and delivery time < 4 weeks. BFL should take example of how these companies make business and stop taking pre-order money if they cannot promise to deliver in a timely manner.
I'm hoping I won't have to make the change, seeing as my best friend/roommate will be here a few months longer than I will and won't have to bother BFL about it... either way the whole situation makes me far more nervous than I should be.

I am upset at the length of time it has taken, but I am excited at the prospect of their arrival.. even if they are late.

BFL has been dealing with scalpers that are reselling their units to other people. BFL has been trying to curtail this by not changing the address of the order. To be devils advocate they say it's to prevent BFL from getting caught up in scams of those nature.
I could be wrong but you may have to cancel that order and place it again with the new address unless you could prove that it is your new address.
I'm just wondering if BFL will scam you out of your position in line and make you pay the new price of the units and the new prices.
I am very interested and if they do this please let me know. Thanks
I think its not a very good reason not to allow a buyer to change address. For instance, if an overseas student wants to order and needs to move out and change addresses, the new occupier gets the ASIC box. Good thinking!
What of repossessions, job availability, etc? There are many more reasons to move out from a property due to the fiscal crisis caused by central banking; might I add that this is why Bitcoin is so much more attractive as it is decentralised and no central bank can touch it!

Yes it's a scam. Even if they start shipping like crazy, they have still made money from defrauding the public simply by making you wait such an unreasonable amount of time.

The bottom line in investing money into anything... DONT INVEST MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE. period. And if anyone thinks/thought BFL ASIC's weren't an investment, then you have no business being involved and don't deserve an audience when you cry foul about the delivery date.
