I’ve used OpenSea for buying NFTs and Bitrefill to spend crypto on gift cards and other stuff. Both have been pretty reliable for me, but I always check reviews and do a bit of homework on sellers to avoid scams.
It sounds like you’re taking a nice approach by doing your research how i am not comfortable with both of the platforms on my personal reasons. I think both OpenSea and Bitrefill have their pros and cons and one should be cautious in the crypto space. You wll usually find higher rates at bitrefill but if you are willing to pay through bitcoin/crypto, you can use this site. On the other hand, i never interested in NFTs as they are dead investments and only you are lucky to get you purchased NFTs in trend.
Anyways regarding all the crypto sites the checking reviews and seller ratings can help you avoid potential scams. Have you had any specific expectational experiences that stood out to you while using those platforms?
If you are uneasy with holding thinking price will go down instead of buying ,best is to invest in potential ico or invest in altcoin which have solid community
I disagree about telling people to invest in potential ICOs. It's no longer a thing today and even if there will be some that still does it, you're just wasting your money finding one to invest with your money. This is way better of spending your crypto if you want to contribute to the ecosystem by spending your cryptos through giftcards from e-commerce websites. But it's still better if you ever find a website that offers services and allows direct acceptance of crypto and start that out from searching through having keywords first like 'crypto'. 
No no I don't buy anything goods or services using cryptocurrency online virtual currency because my country don't directly permit bitcoin as trading system.
Lots of people still use Bitcoin to buy Goods and Services even if their countries don't permit to use of Bitcoin. the thing is even if govt don't allow that, it is technically impossible to stop anyone from using Bitcoin in online sources. yes, you can't use that in real life. but there are still countless ways of spending Bitcoin online. you can even buy physical products with Bitcoin. like Mobile phones, laptops, hardware wallets, collectibles, and much more.
and no one will ask you how you paid for them. unless it's a noticeable thing.
It is true what you say, most countries prohibit or impose restrictions on the use of Bitcoin, because it creates legal problems for users. However, the fact is that many transactions use Bitcoin, even though it is against the law, they don't care about it. Please note that everyone who takes risks in their work must have thought about it at the beginning.

They are not trying, Bitcoin is already a legal tender in El Salvador. 
The Central African Republic also have Bitcoin as a legal tender, so you can use it as legal currency, and I saw several websites in EU, United States and Japan that openly accept Bitcoin payments.
In Turkey you can legally find small Bitcoin exchanges everywhere, you can even purchase stuff with BTC, and in Slovenia you can pay almost anything with Bitcoin and other crypto.

No need to do this under the table. Ordinary P2P trade directly between people. No one except the two participants in the transaction will know what was purchased and for what amount.there are communities in such countries and small wonders who accept bitcoin for their services.

Bitcoin doesn't need to be "legal" for people to use it.Bitcoin doesn't have legal status in almost all countries, but at the same time it is not prohibited almost anywhere.

In this present world, there are many things that will soon happen and part of those things are the acceptance of cr- ypto as a major means of payment. Though some govern- ments are placing a ban on crypto acivi in there countries. Asking the banks in such country to close any account related to crypto. This is a major set back, but with time I know things will get better. I see a world of free and transparent means of transacting. A world where fraud will be impossible. I don't know if the it is because of the first time which I don't know where to find the appropriate links. At first I was looking for my country currency so I can compare Bitcoin price to my fiat BTC/NGN but I couldn't.

Now the peer to peer is not working very effectively because government is still restricting in their countries. And when government adopt Bitcoin and make it as a legal tender then Bitcoin will be the key investment of the country. And at that time we can use it to buy things of our choice.

Unfortunately, the government in my country still prohibits the use of Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies for buying/selling transactions (payments), even these rules have all been stipulated in law. but here we are still free to trade or invest in bitcoin, our government has not banned it, in the next few decades, I don't know if our government will change its mind and make bitcoin one of the legal tenders, I can't wait to use the asset I have crypto to carry out transactions whatever my needs.

I don't believe the challenge we're currently encountering is boardered on trust. It has more to do with global adoption than trust. You see, we understand how crypto works because we gave it attention when it came across our paths and we have resources to guide us through meticulously, not everyone enjoys that privilege.
The local retailer doesn't understand what and how crypto is used, that doesn't mean that she hasn't heard about it but her sufficiency of information as concerning it is still at infancy levels and she can't transact until she is confident enough through sufficient knowledge about its operations. She has to commit her financial life to something she properly understands as its business, profit and looses exists.
