Long term investment can only be done with those coins for which the development activity is ongoing without any major issue. Very few of the altcoins will qualify if we consider this criteria. Take the example of Ethereum. During the past few months, the development timelines have been postponed multiple times and the roll-out of ETH 2.0 has been delayed quite a bit.

not all major altcoins, gradually lose their value like LINK, LINK is one of the major altcoin price increases from 2019 is huge, altcoin LINK prices have never dropped to first price rise in 2019 which is 0.35 $ and until now the price is still rising so in my opinion altcoin LINK is one of the major altcoin that is still worth for long-term investment, so still worth to invest in major altcoin but not all altcoins major

Actually less convincing, but if you believe there will be an altseason in the future this might be a worthy investment, but some friends have tried during the bearish tragedy in mid-2018 and until now I don't think they get a profit or maybe they get bad luck because now the major altcoin is very difficult to grow back.

If you want a long-term investment you better buy bitcoin compared to altcoin if you doubt that the major altcoin will lose its value, but if you want to keep investing try to buy altcoin top 10 coinmarketcap.
sometimes a reference to altcoin with a good rating is good enough for long-term investment, and sometimes it is also suitable for daily trading if there are price movements in it. but I am more focused on long-term investment in bitcoin, because the current market shows more potential in bitcoin. In the past for example in 2017 eth was at the peak of its price so investing for the long term then was a bad idea but now that the price is at 160$ and its far from eth potential i think is a good time for long term investment and there are lot of altcoins like that.

For a long time hodl, I would go for bitcoin blindly and top major coins. Here top means I believe the top 20 coins according to the CMC rankings! ETH, ATOM, ALGO, LINK, Tezos price are very low comparing their potential, so, you may have a look them carefully, these coins are a true gem in the crypto market!

To everyone who wants to buy altcoins now, I recommend to wait a bit because I believe that we will see a price correction soon. But if you want to do it right now, I would choose not only coins from the top 20 or top 50. There are a lot of good coins in the top 200 that may be in the top 50 in the coming year. But in order to find these coins, you need to study a lot of information. I won’t tell you names so you don’t blame me later if you suddenly will have losses

One advantage of high fund investors located in US or Europe with friends in cryptocurrency is the inside information. If I grow up as an investors to that level of funding, I will need the inside information and it will be very good for making decision on investment in cryptocurrency, majorly for altcoins. The inside information will determine a long term hold or short. Not all altcoin are meant to be held for long term though they might be a profitable investment.

Well since 2017 altcoins seems to have somewhat detached from bitcoin, only invest in coins you believe in (watch out, many overpromise and underdeliver), for me a personal list of good alt investments would be ETH, XMR and possibly DASH.

yes, crypto prices are now slowly starting to rise, starting bitcoin, etherum, sv bitcoin, bitcoin cash, showing a significant pump earlier this year, in my opinion this could be a good start for long-term investment.

I hope you won't take my advice as a investment advice, its just simply about myself, for me I prefer to invest in bitcoin as my major investment plan and only had few altcoins that shows good gains in last bitcoin pump of 9k days back

I also thought about this, but in my case there was a choice to hold project tokens, however now I understand more and more that it is necessary to keep funds in top altcoins and BTC. Of the altcoins, I chose ETH and LTC. The situation in the market is really tense and forces many to take extreme actions. I believe that now we need to carefully think about what and how to do in order to make the right choice.

For long term investment you should invest in major coins like bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin they are really worth to invest and I'm sure these coins will gain you a big profit in the future or just wait bull run.
If investing in ETH, LTC ... how long will you wait to get a profit? There have been a lot of people investing in ETH and LTC since 2017 but until now they are still losing money many times, the current price is still 10-20 times lower than before and they have been holding for 2 years. Investing in altcoins is difficult to predict and you cannot be sure it will help you to profit

the meaning of losing the value is altcoin price dropped? this is also because bitcoin price falling down so altcoins follow it. and if i am not wrong the major altcoins are altcoins have top level. its still worth to buy and save for long term, altcoins still has value. moreover you buy and save altcoins like LTC, DASH, BITCOINCASH, STELLAR its good potential for future
