Yes it can happen but even you pick btc or eth still they have different value so no need to ask a question like this another thing any coins here are good even they have low price in market because we can earn by that,I think always study all kinds of coins here for the knowledge.

The transaction with eth is still faster than bitcoin so I think the ico will still use ETH as main. But future ETH will have more advantage as EOS, ICON, ... so ETH hard to reach top
I don't think Ethereum can overtake Bitcoin in the nearest future. Bitcoin is a pioneer of all crypto-technologies and has much bigger fanbase and overall influence.
All crypto was all the times high on January a few month ago and
was drop also at the sametimes . ETH and others crypto has other potential to pump again, I think in 1 year can be crypto will pump by minimum 1 times. Market cap of crypto is still very small compared stock because crypto market still young, so later market cap of crypto will increase and the price of ETH also will going to the top.

The price of bitcoin is very low. In this situation, the ethereum can become the first. I think that the ethereum has enough high potential to take the first place in a coinmarketcap.
Well there are big chances that ETH could do that because right now a lot of good ICOs are already partnered with ETH because of their Smart Contract so expect when ICO has been sold out and list on the exchange and has really a good news it will pump and ETH comes with that.
For now i would prefer Ethereum because of the stability of price and the demand on the market. Ethereum offers a fast transaction with lesser fees. But i doubt bitcoin will again rise after the Lightning Network will be fully implemented and working.

I agree. Ethereum can possibly reach and maybe take over Bitcoin. Maybe reaching out BTC is too hard to do, still ETH got the best thing to do to make it possible. Having studied the proposed scaling solutions I think the next few years could be very positive for Ethereum. We will see not only a move to a proof-of-stake (PoS) model but the introduction of concepts such as sharding (on-chain chain division), payment channels such as Raiden (off-chain trusted payments) and Plasma (sidechain smart contract blockchain pegs). In choosing between the both, I would choose ethereum. Most in the ICOs right now greatly focuses their coin into ethereum blockchain. The hyped and demand of ethereum is as always at peak. Clearly we can see that ethereum is already in the second spot in coinmarketcap. Soon, we dont know if the ethereum hype keeps going like this, it could replace bitcoin in its number 1 spot.
