I was following a thread and was amused by some of the answers. I'm interested to see how much people know.

We are all aware how people tend to do something illegal in the sense of using bitcoin for it is commonly hiding someones identity because of us going incognito after the bitcoin system. But I believe that if you are to do something that surpasses and trigger cyber crime then there is a possibility that you can be spotted.

If they know the address of your bitcoin wallet then yes they can find out that you own bitcoin by check it on blockchain and view the address. If you are not telling anyone then no one will know you own bitcoin. Just keep it secret and don't tell anyone if you don't want people know about your coins.

I suppose for now we are having an open opportunity to be anonymous while using bitcoin but government can force us to apply our documents to the Bitcoin wallet that we are using in the future.

Bitcoin is anonymous, actually it's clear that no one knows that we have Bitcoin, unless we tell them. But another story is, if there are people who are fun or want to do evil to us, by tracking our private wallet and hacking our account.

If you have some crypto apps on your phone or notebook and you leave your browsing history then other people can guess if you have crypto or not. But if you store it in hardware wallet/cold storage and never talk about it to anyone then no one will know that you own it. Even if they know you own bitcoin, they don't know the wallet address so they can't check how much bitcoin you have.

Yes anybody can know that you've bitcoin. There are lots of way it can be detected. In that if your device ip address is been tracked either on mibile device or laptop device. Again if your private key or login key was mistaken revealed somehow then somehow one can know to have bitcoin. Only that if one is using a secure VPN, there i don't think any device can be tracked by that.

There are many ways you can be revealed as a Bitcoin user. If you don't use ToR or similar software, your ISP knows that you visit Bitcoin resources like this forum. People leave many breadcrumbs that can reveal them even without any chain analysis, they discuss Bitcoin openly on social media or even in private messages (sites like Facebook definitely read them), same goes for real life - one can mention Bitcoin a few times with friends and suddenly everyone knows that they are a Bitcoin user.

But of youre not often doing that,or i mean don't usually use social media to discuss bitcoin then its impossible for them to track that were a bitcoin owner

Like me i am not using my social media account about cryptocurrency..i don't even participate social media campaigns so I believe theres no reason for me to be known as bitcoin user

I think if we trace the traces of transfer, we can know who owns bitcoins. When you need to turn bitcoins into fiat or when you pick up from the exchange, it's easy to know whose account it is.

as long as you keep basic security measures i do not think so, like no show off, private mails like protonmail, no kyc to crypto related sites, etc.

If you do not protect your account or your computer system, hackers can get the bitcoin in your wallet. No one will know if you own a bitcoin-only if you do not share that information

I really do not know how they found it. Are they capable of programming or as a hacker? I'm also confused about this issue.

Bitcoin users are anonymous unless a holder announces his ownership to a particular wallet. It is possible to view the amount of Bitcoin in a specific wallet but appears almost impossible to know the holder of that wallet.
That's right wallet address can be seen but to reveal the real owner is not possible not unless the user itself declares his identity, that's one of those reasons why many people support and use the chain, they wanted to hide their money inside btc and aimed for long term hold and continue to invest without a trace coming from other people.

No, if you hide it and in that case you must need to use good wallets and if the price is big then you should you several wallets and finally if you want to hide then you can.

You can hide everything if you are cautious. For example, transferring money to different bank accounts before buying crypto with it, using VPN and all.

If you use several wallets, then no one will know, you need a wallet for storage that is not highlighted and is used only for storage, but for other transactions. Can open only when the exchange where it is necessary to provide documents.

I think no one will know that you have your own bitcoin unless you will share it to them, what I mean is that you tell them about it. Also if you secured it and place it in a cold storage well expect that no one will know it. Just be wise and responsible on bitcoin you have.
Yes, it is hard to know that you have own bitcoin because blockchain is a decentralized system and no third party knows you have that kind of transaction, even if someone intentionally search but still they don't know the person behind the wallet address.
