which is good driver for RX 470 4gb?

any 16.11.x driver is fine.  For the above poster, use linux then.  But just keep all your new cards on 16.11.x and all the old ones on 16.3 or 15.12 or something.  You should be fine.

I hope that Claymore did it with the new drivers from AMD 17.1.1 so at the moment it is the best driver in the increase in speed

16.11.5 is the best if you use a modified bios. If you don't use a modified bios, why are you using the stock bios?Huh
There is no speed improvement with 17.xx.x drivers. 17.xx.x drivers force you to use to stock bios, which are not optimal for mining.
Why would you use 17.xx.x drivers?Huh It does not cost you anything to use 15/16.xx.x drivers.

15.x/16.x drivers are a massive pain in the ass. You are thinking small scale. If you have 20+ rigs of mixed cards using 2-3 different driver sets with different quirks us a freaking disaster.

That would be wrong, 17.1.1 is not working with moded(even for ETH) bioses and such cards are wast majority.
So 16.11.5 (or 3 ) is best shot.
and in the manual it's hard to configure
handles work with the settings

How much average H/s can I get with using R9 290 cards?

I am considering buying r9 390, r9 290 or r9 290X.
Anyone here using these?

These cards use lots of power.
Expect 370h/s for 275w using R9 290x with 390x bios mod @ 1150/1350mhz +25-50mv.
290h/s-310h/s with stock/stilt bios @ 1000/1250mhs.

Unless you can get 390 really cheap, stick with R9 290x + R9 390 bios mod. You can get R9 290x down to 150w but hash rate will suffer.  You need to use server power supplies for 290/290x/390/390x but you can get away with a single 1000w for 5x RX 470, 750w for brand name with perfect cooling.

At current prices your profit really depends on the price you pay for electricity.  It's really hard to beat RX 470 efficiency with current power prices.

Everyone is expecting a pump before AMD releases VEGA, which is Q2 2017. You *might* break even R9 290x by then.
AMD is *speculating* VEGA being 2.5 faster than POLARIS, in other words 1000h/s for 250w.

Thanks for the info.

Waiting for Claymore to drop a new version of his miner feels alot like waiting for him to find a cure for cancer but by the time he finds it, all the cancer patients are dead.  If Optiminer is truly faster, then we are at a disadvantage.  I know the faster miner just raises the difficulty level and it all evens out, however, it also levels the playing field with the other miners.  Feels like the discussion on this message board has died over the past few days.  I only check it to see if the improved miner has landed.  I know this is Claymore's livelyhood and he is just as interested in an improvement as I am.  Would love to see a new miner to make it a bit exciting again.

I'm sure CM will produce a noteworthy update, compared to v11.1, but I'm nearly certain it will not be faster than Optiminer. I also believe that Optiminer will not be able to deliver further performance improvements beyond a percent or two. Just my take.
you do speak some amount of crap,as soon as Claymore name is mentioned you feel the need to respond even if your making it up as you go zzzzzzzzzzzz seems you have delegated yourself to unofficial forum mod lol funny though as you don't even use Claymore software, get a life...

Whoops! Sorry, I didn't realize I have to check with you first to see if my opinion is OK to post. I have used CM's software, on a couple of coins, I just don't use it at the moment. I'm certainly not the only one on this forum that thinks the Zcash miner software is very close to its max performance, but you are free, of course, to believe whatever you'd like, just as I am.

Well, regardless of what some people think, I am allowed an opinion, which is what my post was, my opinion. Trump voters, I guess. In this case, I would rather be wrong than right.
