How much average H/s can I get with using R9 290 cards?

I am considering buying r9 390, r9 290 or r9 290X.
Anyone here using these?

Waiting for Claymore to drop a new version of his miner feels alot like waiting for him to find a cure for cancer but by the time he finds it, all the cancer patients are dead.  If Optiminer is truly faster, then we are at a disadvantage.  I know the faster miner just raises the difficulty level and it all evens out, however, it also levels the playing field with the other miners.  Feels like the discussion on this message board has died over the past few days.  I only check it to see if the improved miner has landed.  I know this is Claymore's livelyhood and he is just as interested in an improvement as I am.  Would love to see a new miner to make it a bit exciting again.

I'm sure CM will produce a noteworthy update, compared to v11.1, but I'm nearly certain it will not be faster than Optiminer. I also believe that Optiminer will not be able to deliver further performance improvements beyond a percent or two. Just my take.

You are wrong.

Hi Claymore, what is the estimated time of arrival of your v12 turbo charged ZEC miner? Thanks

He told weekend... But he didn't tell which weekend..  Wink Cheesy

I will stick with CM. His SW works flawlessly for my rx 470s. Tried OM, but had no luck. Spent 3 hours but didn't even come close to CM performance.

I've got 2 of those extenders, but they do not work with molex riser - https://www.hashratestore.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/powered-pcie-1x-16x-16x-riser-cable-molex.jpg - any idea why ?
Do they need usb risers ?
That one is burned

As @azzAz says that wire is scorched a bit near the 1x PCIe connector. It looks like it overheated. Probably not enough power to the riser or a surge.

USB pcie risers run 1x yellow power wire (12v) and 1x red wire (5v) into the Molex connector. That cheap ass ribbon cable you bought has a single power and no ground wires. Heck, it probably cost you as much as a good PCIe USB riser would.

I sell PCIe risers so take my advice with a grain of salt, but don't you think it's weird that your Molex connector usually has 4 wires running into it but you only have 1 in your ribbon riser?

Best guess is they don't provide a return path for the ground. It's having to ground thru those very small ribbon cables. That's the poorest design I've ever seen. At minimum It should have had a ground accompanying the yellow power wire.  I can't say as I've ever seen them made this way.  For example something like this. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Two-PCI-E-1x-To-16x-Riser-Card-Ribbon-Extender-Extension-Cable-With-Molex-Power-/262843375665?hash=item3d32afa031%3Ag%3AKmEAAOSwnHZYm2PO&_trkparms=pageci%253A4ab9292f-f0ee-11e6-82e8-74dbd18039d2%257Cparentrq%253A310e1c5915a0a2ab98bf6f3ffffb944d%257Ciid%253A10

The more I dig thru eBay. I can't find any with only one wire. 16x-16x also has power and ground.

Aye, I never bought ribbon risers, I got USB risers and paid import fees before retailers had them, ebay, wtvr, they came up even cheaper nonetheless, the idea of a piece of electrical tape and some exposed bell wire, idk it put me off, + the benchmarks in certain tasks that the ribbons would bottleneck in different implementations, not sure how true that is, probably more towards gaming. I don't even know what the parts on the USB risers do, they might not even do anything XD, the capacitors etc. but they look generally more polished and safer for high temp use 24/7 operation. like something that's ok to plug into your computer.

Edit: it does happen even USB risers are rubbish, you get one out of a bundle that is DOA if you get them from a bulk source, untested, etc. or just from a bad supplier, (more components can fail, more room for QC measures to fail) but all in all, from everything i've seen over the years, they're a much better and safer choice.

Guys, which MB did You test and recommend for 7gpu rigs? Beside MSI z97 gaming 5 that one is doin fine.

My Top Motherboard Picks:
- Z97 Gaming 5,  MSI Z97 Intel LGA 1150 DDR3 USB 3.0 ATX Gaming Motherboard http://a.co/7a6Sut8
- ASRock H97 Anniversary LGA 1150 Intel Motherboard (usually sold out): http://[Suspicious link removed]/2cl9G48   or   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157564

I have a MSI Z170A Xpower gaming Titanium Edition mobo with 7 pcie slots, could only get 3 cards to run it, any ideas?
Have ASRock H97 Anniversary LGA 1150 as well running 6 290's and Asrock B150A-X1 with 5 slots, but can only get 4 390's to run on it.

I've gotten two b150a-x1 to work with 5 cards, you need to set pcie to gen2 for all slots and alocate 3.5gb resources to vgas in bios. Also, disable sound from bios, else you might get no resources available.

Last 2 gpu's arrived today and got 5 cards running on b150a-x1. Thank you plenty much christiano88! Grin
