Anyones hash rate really low on Nanopool? according to ethmon i'm 3k h/s lower than i should be , usually its 1k diff up or down not 3+ k

Looked like they were getting DDoSed yesterday so I switched to Flypool. Just switched back to Nanopool now. Will let you know what I see.

@fittsy thanks

I have few rx470 from xfx, the single fan ones, and with 1500 straps bios mod and clocks: 1200/1000mv 1750/1000mv they are doing 173h/s at 127W from the wall measured with smart plug. This is with V8 and -i 4 setting. This xfx model is the cheapest but it's very silent, running at 70C with 35% fan speed, the room temp is 25C. The nice thing about them is dual bios Wink

Now this is some valuable information, thanks for posting this!

What is this smart plug?

Smart plugs are a nice way to restart machine remotely or monitor how it is runnig. I use tplink hs110.

Great miner as always getting 200+ H/s on my 470's

is that a problem?
after few hours appears [edit removed pic of incorrect data errors on one card]

this could be due to excessive overclocking or undervolting.

Or to high an intensity setting - had the same issue on one R9 280x in my dual rig and had to drop intensity a bit to get it reliable.
The card I had to drop runs noticeably warmer (space for the fans to draw air limits) than the other one.

Think I'm getting 173/156 or some such on that rig, ended up at stock clocks for best hashrate on those stock cards.

Hi All,

I've just created a page where one can share your experiance with your graphical card in order to have a benchmark.

http://cryptolex.ch/gpu-mining-hardware-for-z-cash-comparison/?lang=en

a column for noting if the cards bios is stock or not would help avoid lots of confusion.

I'm beginning to believe my motherboard is not capable of handling more than 2 cards ugh! Msi z170a gaming pro carbon either on boot (windows 8 or 10) doesn't recognize cards, afterburner doesn't show temps and card crashes or opencl hangs on miner
I got a Z170 board not knowing issues.  It will see and mine with 4 GPUs no problem (470/480), though if you try 5, it will lock up at bios, even though board has 7 slots. I have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128838 Then I just decided to get H81 BTC pro boards (harder to find).

This MSI Z97 works just as good as an H81 BTC - cheaper in most cases - plus it has 7 pcie slots - I have 2 rigs with this board and 7 RX480's each. Works great.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K8KPXUO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks, I was wondering what board was good these days for many cards, and at a low cost. Many boards that will run 7 are high dollar, not worth it for mining.  I already have 5 rigs in garage, reaching limits of my breaker panel and cooling (in summer, Georgia), but I can recommend to friends.

did someone have more than 189 h\s on ref rx 480 8Gb?
I get 195 at stock core clock and 2100 mem clock on my xfx 8gb. With my msi 4gb I get 184. All this is with -I 1

So far today it's been pretty darn close to what my rigs combine at after dev fees on the miner are taken into account. I have noticed a lot of ups and downs and not a steady reporting, not sure what's causing that.

Cool, thanks. Are you on Claymore's recommended 15.12? I used to be at 15.20 and I swore my hashrate was higher when I compared them on 7.0

Actually, I think I'm going to do a system restore and see how the 15.20 works. At 16.x.x, I've only got 230 sol/s on the 390. Pretty bad IMO...

There never was a 15.20 - AMD driver version naming convention has been "last 2 digits of year . month" of official release date for a driver version for some years now.

The "pro" drivers seem to have partly broken or changed that, as they use a xx.xx.xx version format - I'm guessing the final pair is "day".

Ok, so it looks like everyone else is getting approximately the same hashrate difference for R9 390 vs. RX 480. I get 260 H/s and 190 H/s respectively with mine (both 8 GB). So my question is, is it expected that the 480 hashrate is only 73% of the 390? Is it because of the lower power consumption on the 480? With every other miner/currency so far, my 480s hash at about the same rate as my 390s. Is this something new with v8.0?

The R9 390's have more memory bandwidth (384 bit i believe) which makes them ideal for the Zcash mining algorithm. RX 480's only have 256 bit.

 290/390/290x/390x are 512 bit.

280x/380x are 384 bit (I was confusing them myself in another thread).

I believe the 280/380 would also be 384 bit.

No it is not. It is because 290/ 390(x) are high end cards vs 470 low-mid/ 480 mid level, amd has not released that high performance gpu yet.

470/ 480 owners were lucky to enjoy hig end hashing rates at one algo with some bios modding. Today ancient 290 hashes more than 470/ 480 with the same or better hash/ watt ratio, better get used to it.

ps. what where those every other currencies where 480 matched 390?

290(x) / 390(x) have a much wider bus to make up for the slower speed RAM.
They do NOT hash at the same hash / watt ratio as the RX 470/480 - closer on ZEC than on ETH but the newer cards ARE still more efficient. R9 290s in particular are SERIOUS power hogs even with undervolting and BIOS strap mods via TheStilt.

On the other hand, most folks that have R9 2xx and many that have R9 3xx cards have long since paid them off so anything they're making now is pure profit.
HD 78xx/79xx cards mostly are even bettter off, most of THOSE in mining use were probably paid off by Litecoin (and general Scrypt) mining back in the day, or worst case by Darkcoin (now DASH, X11) mining after that.

Currencies that are NOT memory-hardened are where a RX 480 might match the 290/390 and possibly even the 290x/390x - close on core count, quite a bit higher clock - but there are very few if any profitable GPU-mineable coins that fit that description any more.
If X11, Scrypt, or SHA256 were still GPU mineable the RX480 would probably be a bit faster on those than the 290/390 and possibly the 290x/390x.

Technically, Gridcoin would qualify NOW if you are working the Moo Wrapper project, it runs the distributed.net client which is well known to almost not use memory at all and is TOTALLY compute-bound - but trying to make money via Gridcoin just don't happen, you're doing quite well if you manage to pay the electric from Gridcoin income.

Hi there, Mr. Claymore,

could you maybe or not,

the fans are checked when they got the fan speed reported right, can this be disabled,

one gpu with rpm different then the other same card with different rpm on the fans will not get to mine,
or crash, it mines all other coins,

i found out it has to be the fans, fanmin 100 fanmax 100 just wont fix it for me, they are in overdrive at 100% or automatic, but one of those fans is connected with 2pins, and gpu caps viewer shows 100rpm on that gpu, thats why i have to be able to skip this fan check somehow, could this be done with V9?

all versions on this card could not mine, at all. the other same cards will did do work fine as should.. thanks a lot again.

Of corse I'm using Claymore since beginning and v8 works perfectly ! Thanks claymore for your job and effort Smiley ... waiting for version 9 ... 10 ...

You should also include a power usage field - - for instance - "Watts at the wall". This is 50% or more the decision factor for buying GPU's when miners have to pay for the electricity to power their rigs. Not just Hashing power.

Other considerations - Overclocking fields and memory timing straps field - etc

Just my 2 cents
