We are hunt for speakers to discuss the below on the start of both days of our event. Although our event will be hosting a range of speakers and activates involved at a higher level than basics we expect some beginner users to attend and would like to give them some of the basics.

We are looking at creating a small basic step-by-step guide for beginners and we would like someone to discuss the below:

- Basics of bitcoin
- Basics of setting up a wallet
- Basics of sending / receiving
- Security of your wallet

Of course the above is in development but we would love your input.

Nice too see this happening at Madlab. Not sure what has happened to bitcoinmanchester that use to host their once a month. I know they had a get together in DEC for Christmas meet  up but seems things slowing down and not many attending the meetings maybe needs more awareness. I will be sure to be calling down to the coin fest in April. Any times of when the meeting and get together will start from am maybe guessing early noon or round tea time when everyone home from work? Any rules on Vaping in MadLabs?

Hey, Crazyearner

Thanks for the post. I've seen that Ash has posted so I'll leave that point, Thanks Ash.

So the events will run all day from morning until 5/6 and the same times on the Saturday.

I've asked Madlabs about vaping and they have said they have no strict policy against the use and will leave it up to me as the Organiser to decide (I have no opposition by the way)

^ Just want to correct the above! With our current funding we are only able to keep the venue open from 9am to 4pm, we would like to keep the event open late Friday night for everyone to be able to attend and to offer some more exciting activities at the event, so we are actively looking for more funding

Thanks to the guys over at Coins-Info.com for the article on Coin Fest, see it here http://www.coins-info.com/coinfest-uk-gears-up-for-april-event
Cool! About to share via CoinFest's Twitter account. Don't forget you're not the only organizer, though, and that Manchester won't be the only CoinFest event... just the biggest, based on my current estimates. That's what I'm telling sponsors, anyways Tongue

 Grin

I am looking to print a world map of CoinFest and pin it up at the event to show attendees all the CoinFest events across the world

Nice! It's good to keep things decentralized. Hosting one of the biggest events is a huge responsibility because you have to keep that in mind. It would be cool if we set up some kind of portal where UK attendees could look into other events via video feed... we tried this last year, but it was very experimental and resources were more limited. I think you can handle it!

Sounds good to me as some places do not understand the ruling on vaping ad harmless lol. No doubt I will be coming down for the event if I manage to get the time to call down and get their on time as work now am been pulled in for 6 day weeks now so plenty of overtime, if I do get the chance Ill call down on way home from work FRI/SAT depending on times. Look forward to meeting you their if I do get to it Smiley

Hi crazyearner

I'm one of the organisers of Bitcoin Manchester, maxsan is the other. (He has a profile on here, but like me, doesn't follow this forum any more.)

You are right, we did have a meetup in December, here is our announcement. Jonny Bitcoin was talking about BitShares and we had cake Cheesy  We put up some photos on our Meetup.com event (this is the first of our events we've used Meetup for).

The biggest obstacle to regular meetups is organising speakers. We've had some good ones in the recent past, including Judith Aldridge of Manchester University talking about Silk Road and darknet markets, and Gulnar Hasnain of the Green Party talking about Bitcoin in politics.  We are limited by the number of potential speakers in (or able to travel to) Manchester. What partly compounds the problem is that I am currently living in Poland, and Max is currently in Glasgow, which makes coming back to run events much more difficult, and unfortunately rules out us filling in when we have no speaker due to the time and cost involved.

In short, we're doing the best we can given our constraints. If you have any ideas for sessions we could run (topics, speakers, etc), please let us know! We can be reached at [email protected].

Thanks Ash, good to see you here.
