I am using Tokenncoin. It is much way better than these 2. Tokenncoin is an all-in-one platform that ranks and analyzes all the blockchain-based coins and tokens in the crypto market. Tokenncoin caters to all the research demands of investors, traders, and crypto holders.
I saw coincapmarket from long time to analyze any coin details.but know coingecko has come and traders has double choice to know about their trading coin. Some new coin has been added to coingecko to see and trade them but exchange are really low quality. Trader can get some data on both marketcap that what I can do. On other hand coincapmarket has long listing with better chart and social media analysis.
In end I prefer everybody to go anywhere who satisfied your invention about any project.

Usually I prefer coinmarket cap bit coin gecko has some good features where I can just input the Bitcoin amount I hold and it will give me the actual USD value.
I have been a Coinmarketcap user for many years, and I never used the Coingecko site, but since Exchange p2pb2b has existed then the coinmarketcap site making fake ranking to the p2pb2b market, I have started thinking maybe this is their game to lure investors or traders. I think who have lots of money can buy a fake ranking there.
Both of them are useful maybe its just that two of them are having trouble on acquiring data from differenr exchange and mixed up with their records. I personally used cmc but we cant deny that its data volume is worse. If your a trader I suggest dont rely on these tracker cause your trades would be mess up. But if you rely on arbitrage trading these are helpful and can let you learn which to use this method better. Coingecko on the otherhand is not that greate with these cause their listed exchange are not reputable sometime on other tokens.
P2pb2b maybe has fake volume ? i think we cannot assume it is 100% accurate.
In coinmarketcap, there are adjusted volume and reported volume, you should try it and see if p2pb2b exchange still on the top or not.

It's almost impossible to compare coin market cap to this other platform (Coin gecko) considering alot of factors, I mean what ever your reasons may be Coin market cap is still the father in the business just like bitcoin is matchless
Both Coinmarketcap or Coingecko are good for source information about which one coin have value and where the market listing, just usually I use coinmarketcap to know where is my coin assets listed and how much price, I can see different price between one exchange market with other exchange.
to check the market list I also do it on both of these sites, sometimes if the coinmarketcap is not listed then I will look for it on coingecko. but I personally am more dominant to use coinmarketcap, maybe because I am more accustomed to using it. 
I prefer Coingecko because they don't list fake volume projects there, and fake volume exchanges cannot exist on this site either. I was tired of coinmarketcap because they always listed scam and fake volume exchanges

I use both to get information about the new tokens or coins to list. For precise information such as rankings and others, I think Coingecko is guaranteed. However, since I am used to opening coin market caps, I use CMC more often to only see the daily increase in each coin.

It takes time to clean it up and with readers demands it will surely be cleaned up by new holders, coinmarket have this behaviors but with binance management reputation will be on the way to work it out with people who are using this site, in other other side, coingecko receive the credit since they've list new coins and provide information much earlier.As of now, we need to wait what's gonna be changing on CMC under Binance management. But one thing I noticed, one inactive alt which had some figures before is now showing "Untracked Listing". Maybe they are now categorizing those alts without active trading or needs to be updated as "Untracked Listing"? They are slowly cleaning the mess.
I am a Coingecko and Coinmarketcap user for a long time, this is common. which I believe is the trading volume in both. whichever is strong I will definitely sell my coins. I am more inclined to coin marketcap because of the crypto information that I can come from there.
I came to know CMC at my early stage of trading crypto and also using it to analyse the market I don't know too well about CoinGecko. Which i will bring and idea for the owners of this website (CoinGecko) to recheck and put things right. The both get bullshit in overtime and you end up getting wrong information about a coin or an Exchanger.

in fact all of our habits are looking for the best information and often use it. because both are pretty good presentations. I used CMC from the beginning to find information and analyze before doing something. but with the development I see CoinGecko is quite good too and I end up using it, because I see there are differences in the way of presentation that is not in CMC and CoinGecko is closer than the price value and accuracy of the presentation of the value of each token. this is my perception that maybe people will differ in their judgment and are only natural.

Especially now that CMC has been acquired by Binance and the possibility of fake data in the future will be corrected.
