I prefer coinmarketcap over coingecko. Because coingecko sometimes shows strange info about token/coin price. For example it shows that it is traded on exchange, when you go to exchange section, there are 2 "grey" exchange that are on promotion on coingecko and they do not trade an altcoin I was searching for.

Also there a build in calculator where you write the amount of altcoins you have and it is converted to USD. Ok, I enter the amount of tokens I have, it shows how much I have this tokens in USD, but this altcoins is not traded anywhere. How can it be? How can you calculate a price if it is not traded anywhere???

I think both of these websites are useful and we can use both of them to dig up information about coins or tokens in the market. But for now, I mostly use the coinmarketcap website because I am used to it and it doesn't mean that coingecko is worse than coinmarketcap

For example, I heard lot that P2PB2B is one of the bullshit exchanges because it has fake volume, but why on coinmarketcap can in the top 3?
Whereas on Coingecko P2PB2B is ranked 114, Does coingecko know if it's bullshit exchange? so it's not in the top 3 like in coin marketcap

So which one do you trust more?
You cannot trust fully the information given by both CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko because these sites sometimes delay in updating their information. There have been several instances where CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko have provided incorrect volume and coin supply for some coins even after the team of those projects have sent the right information. It takes time for CMC and CG to update.

Most users use coin market cap since it is more convenient and more user-friendly compared to coingecko. In regards to exchange ranking, I guess they base it on market volume regardless whether it is fake or not, this list doesn't matter since most crypto users are aware which has legitimate and fake volume.
Agree, now everyone has a lot of experience in this market. So the fake volume exchange will not be too big a problem for them. And now Coinmarketcap is being controlled by Binance, so I believe it will be much better than Coingecko.

I used to trust Coinmarketcap but somehow now it's very bad, there are a lot of fake volumes on this site, especially Exchange p2pb2b and latoken, for now I trust Coingecko even though it's not as bad as Coinmarketcap
It's not only bad but this site can be considered as the worst site right now while others have developed more and more interesting features and reliable data and CMC is still stuck at this progress.

I wanna see those crap exchange sites will be removed from the marketcap site especially CMC.

I regularly use coinmarketcap because it has more and I can find every altcoin I want to invest. But coingecko is also great when you can search for new altcoins there, both sites that are worth letting us use and depending on your purpose.

those to are okay, but most people use coinmarket cap since it has nice gui, at the same time its easy for me to check what coin has gone up and what coin goes down, you can also check for a week or a day, some prefers coingecko, but ill stick with cmc, information are always update never tried the other one
for now, it looks like the quality for the coin marketcap is better because it's controlled by CZ. it's just that, so far, both of them are indeed useful, although many people say that it's manipulation and so on. however, listings on both sites can be used as a reference, and it is quite easy to find information about prices and markets of these sites. it's just that I use Coinmarketcap more often than Coingecko.

if to believe in coin marketcap or coingecko maybe I feel less for both because what sometimes there are indeed strange things like there might be an error for data collection on their data where sometimes there are altcoins that have no price or very small prices suddenly very large prices but at when the exchange is still the original price.

I believe coinmarketcap because it's best leading crypto site where you can analyze crypto with exchange details. But i never trust every coins and exchange volume without long analysis. Low quality exchange creative fake volume and they're show false database but reliable exchange never try it.

I think both of them use different means of measuring and collecting data. While CMC has been the choice of majority is probably because it is the oldest. Coingecko is no doubt good as well but I think it will always be behind CMC in term of preferences especially now that binance has purchased CMC and they have started collecting data survey in order to determine what the people want and how to improve the platform
If Binance has already purchase CMC then I hope there are no more fake volumes there, If it's a garbage Exchange, then it's worth putting it in the trash, don't make it a top Exchange just because they pay for the fake ranking.
That's the problem with CMC and with Binance acquiring this site its a high time to correct this practice and be very strict placing the datas. It will be more helpful to the people who are seeking information using this sites, collecting proper info helps traders and investors to pick the place to trade.
Details which is really reliable and not just a paid data should be prioritized by binance after taking over.

in my opinion not for both, especially for CMC which is now held by Binance, and websites like CMC and Coingecko are not very accurate in displaying real volume data

I think both are shit market cap website. Most of people use Coinmarketcap than Coingecko i guess. But both are fulfill with shit coin/exchange details. Now days also you can see those coin in Coinmarketcap which are not even launch in any exchange. They just list a coin with some fees i guess. Which is not a professional. I think it's not a good idea to research a coin with their provided details. Just do your research with couple of trusted exchange you'll be good.
Shit coins can get listed for free if they have a good volume. Exchange can be blame for displaying fake volumes, tracking websites can be also blame for not putting measures to prevent the display of fake volume of a exchange.

Of course poor exchanges and tracking websites both are responsible for that. Low quality exchanges create fake volumes with using bots and they send it to tracking website like CoinmarketCap or Coingecko and they don't hesitate to show fake volumes at all. That's why we must trade in trustworthy and reputed exchange for actual volume.

The more sources of information, the better, the more since there is no special trust in them. They help analyze information and separate more or less truthful from outright lies. But in principle they are similar to each other, so I use both.

Both Coinmarketcap and Coingecko are reliable websites to get cryptocurrency-related information like price charts, trading volumes, as well as gains and losses. When choosing which one to use, the preference of viewers in terms of the website layout will be considered. The website layout for CMC looks more minimalistic and organized and yet Coingecko also provides comprehensive and detailed information. It is better to cross-check information from these websites and use both when DYOR.

Aside from these leading crypto information websites, PlayFuel's standing and market performance can also be tracked in Tokenncoin, a one-stop crypto market data platform. Check out our real-time price, liquidity, and up-to-date active markets here: https://tokenncoin.com/cryptocurrencies/playfuel

Coinmarketcap is more popular than coingecko i think, but that doesn't mean the data is more accurate.
Using only a single coin listing platform is not enough, we should compare it with the others. The requirements of the coin should be strict if they want to list on their sites so they will become the trusted coin listing platform.
indeed coinmarketcap has very high popularity and many traders who rely on coinmarketcap to find information about a coin but you should know that the efforts of coingecko are also very good because coingecko can overtake coinmarketcap which currently provides many valid information such as coinmarketcap.

For now coingecko rating is more trusted but since many know about coinmarketcap they go with CMC rating, even new project developers use coinmarketcap rating to choose exchanges, I hope coinmarketcap will fix things in near future, they are more popular than coingecko
