It is not that profitable.

It was good for CPU mining only for a first day. After that difficulty increased a lot and couldn't get much. I will give it a try again.
It's cryptonight, so it doesn't really matter whether it's the first day or not. Just open any calculator like whattomine.com, since day one ETN is the most profitable coin to mine with Polaris GPUs (not talking about any non-mainstream small coins here), so it's obviously more profitable than XMR as well.

Mining XMR is probably the most profitable, but it takes a lot of time until you get paid by the pool.
So, I decide that is not worth it, I'll stick to GPU only.
ETN has been a lot more profitable than XMR for the past 10 days or so. Very frequent payouts even to CPU miners.

Thanks for the information. It was good for CPU mining only for a first day. After that difficulty increased a lot and couldn't get much. I will give it a try again.

Download nicehash miner and see what it gives you. Income you`ll see there is without electricity costs.

I have started cpu mining XMR on my 6x rigs while the GPUs mine ZEC.  Smiley

I am doing the same thing here ... getting round 100 H/s with a bit older i7

It is better not to use the laptop for mining.

I introduce Monero (XMR), but it will burn your computer more than GPU mining, so you should buy ASIC to mine coin.

Will try mining on some of this coins later. I have free electricity and I only use the PC for encoding so maybe I can mine while doing work. Two birds in one stone. Smiley

Credits(CRDS) are about $0.075 each right now and block size is 10 so about $0.75 per block solved. CPU only mining through a local wallet only.

Yes, you can make profit if you mine the right coins. I have a Ryzen 7 1700 CPU (OC'd to 3700) and a cheap $100 GFX card and make ~$40 profit a month mining Monero. I recently switched to Sumokoin though for quicker payouts and growth potential. Hashrate is 900 h/s for both coins.

Today mining is a very expensive way to earn altcoins. Besides the hardware that costs much ( and you need this stuff – not the laptop), you spend much on electricity. It will be good if you start getting profit in a year.
Better deal with trading and investing into reliable projects.

You can try mining not popular new coins, such as this https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/official-annfreelabitfbfup-to-15-interestno-icopowcryptonight-2344886
And if coin increase in the price you get profit, for mining monero you must have ~10pc with middle end cpu's

Even the same thread in 2016 was a roaring NO. Come on, we need that it is a pain that you do not have the equipment or the funds to get an ASIC, but that does not change reality. It is what it is, only a very small group of coins give a small profit and that means a lot of work switching and handling the wallets, not worth it at all.

First of all if you will be CPU minning you should get a better CPU as you have mentioned you only got a low end laptop and it will not cut it frankly speaking, also even if you have an Intel 8700 or AMD Ryzen 1700 still it will be crushed by a good GPU. So to speak investing in a good GPU will save you countless of hours and electricity from minning on a CPU.

Pretty inexperienced CPU-miner here.

My personal favorite right now is ROI-Coin

CPU-only and solo-mining is still possible, though one pool has been set up and probably more to come.
