CPU mining Monero and Electroneum is still profitable. We've got beginner friendly setup assistants on both pools make it easier to get started.

threadripper 1950x gets about 1200H/s out of box un-optimised, also got 3 Vega FE plugged into it, only using 2 at the moment, hashing at over 2000 each, waiting for open loop water cooling parts to turn up before sticking third card in

results are reflected at pool

I have 2x Xeon E5645, not making much from mining, but indeed heating is not an issue in that room Tongue

May I ask please, which coins were you mining?

Hello,

if electricity isn't an issue, consider a server like HP DL580 G7 with 4xE7-4830 (8cores) for a total of 32 cores.
It makes 1390H/s cryptonight.
It's solid and reliable.

you can even add two GPU, it has 1200w PSU (4x for redudancy) and costs ... 400 $

Some of my results that I would like to share with the community:

2x Xeon 2667 V2: 1200-1300 H/s. Power consumption of each CPU: 100W
2x Xeon 2690 V1: 950 H/s Power consumption of each CPU: 100W

So yes, you can make good returns with CPUs you already own. I just happened to have these workstations: not sure I would have recommended anyone to buy these just for mining!

Oh: added benefit. No need for heating at home Smiley

Considering the cost of GPUs nowadays, CPU mining is becoming much more attractive when mining CryptoNight algorithm.

I think Ryzen's CPU (like 1700) can be effective in mining, but on other CPU - it can be uneffective, better buy GPU.

what to mine depends on your mining habits.
If you need daily profits whattomine is good or you can search for alt ann section of new coins.
research you coin first and read carefully the details about it.
I used to mine sumo but i switched to dero after they published the future code. As everyone seems to love and believe developer.
if you are looking for new blockchain and more than just fork of old coin go to dero.
DERO: Privacy + Smart Contracts + Lightning Fast Transactions, like monero + ethereum

CRDS is CPU-only. We have a new calculator: http://crds-calulator.000webhostapp.com/ and a new stats tool: http://31.31.72.59/crds/crds_stats.html

There are still some places left for the airdrop (see below).

Credits Airdrop

We are announcing a Credits (CRDS) airdrop! A maximum of 200 users will be accepted for this airdrop. Each application will be reviewed individually and each user that is accepted will be given 250 CRDS.

You need to
1) Join our Discord channel: https://discord.gg/Hq7dKhh
2) Download the Credits wallet: https://github.com/CRDS/Credits/releases/tag/v1.1.1.0
3) Create a CRDS address
4) Sign up here: https://goo.gl/forms/8aNjRCiyi3u9Um2E3

Not all applications will be accepted. Users with the following have increased probability of acceptance:

1) Being active on Bitcointalk
2) Being involved with masternode coins
3) Being involved with mining

Biblepay is the next cpu algo.

I am mining biblepay with my cpu.

biblepay is doing good. s biblepay is cpu only coin with new algorithm.

Biblepay is still good for mining it'seems,  and it is noted at c-cex (rare cpu only coin)
And it makes you feel good because it supports poor orphans  (kids)

Probably woud never mined a cristian coin with a name like biblepay
but the Dev is actually really doing his best and the support for the orphans is a really nice touch.
Just check it out ;-)

for biblepay you can mining with any old shit cores=  1,2,4 cores is best choice ... no need newest xeons

you could mine biblepay,
Use this container if you don't want to deal with the optimized mining setup:
https://hub.docker.com/r/cryptozero/biblepay-opt/

BiblePay (BBP)
- 10% mined coins always go to Charity (already sponsoring 180+ Orphans monthly)
- ASIC-Resistant like Vertcoin/Groestlcoin (CPU Mining Only)
- fork of DASH (Masternode Governance Model, Budget Proposals & Voting)
- POBh Proof of BibleHash Algorithm, All Nodes are Full Nodes

Launched July 23rd 2017, market cap ~1-2 million

Just to say.

In the end of 2013 y, newborn on crypto I was researching btc ($800) mining info and everybody in every fuc*&% forum told me that no longer be profitable w/ a antminer in that time that would make done 0,98 btc a day. The antminer investment would have about $7/8k

How many btc I would have done?

"... but the cost of electricity..."  Roll Eyes

I rest my case.

Happy hashes for all

That would mine on a CPU processors need to have a large number of them or the most productive samples.

Even modern CPUs are not very suitable for mining. Yes, you can mine on them, but they have too little processing power. Video cards and specialized devices are more suitable for mining.  Wink

Tested a friends computer with nicehash miner.

he has a i7-7800, and a geforce gtx 1060 3gb.

Does this look right?

https://ibb.co/eDkPob

Guessing if there is some OC then the CPU will mine just a little more?

Terrible. I got 200 H/s with a Xeon E5645 Westmere EP (2.4 ghz).

But then again, Nicehash is cancer...
