Sorry I mean for the test team, so if Warner is back and playing in the test team it will ease the pressure on Finch knowing that he most likely won't get called up to the test team and he can then concentrate on the shorter form of the game. Yes I do believe that having Warner back will be beneficial for Finch as absy said they work well together opening the batting in ODI matches.

Okay, in that case, he should be a drop from test squad or move down in middle order if necessary because I don't think he's equipped to face new ball in red cricket. that's what I thought when I saw him facing the first new ball. the second new ball is a different scenario due to pitch behavior or some runs on the board.

Shorter format is a different task. one good inning can do magic for him be it with David Warner, Alex Carey or Arcy short.

It will be interesting to see what happens once Warner is back, that's if he gets back into the Australian team.
Are you implying that finch will lose his place in ODI squad if Warner comes back? if yes then I don't think Finch place is in danger right now he's doing an okay- (not bad) job as a captain. batting is concern surely but still, he is a very valuable asset in top order. I am sure he will pass this bad phase soon.

I heard the rumor that some people trying to push Maxwell's name as a Captain for World cup. is it true or just tabloid talk?

I think that is a rumour my friend as I can't see Maxwell being the captain at the World Cup. We never know Smith could be captain as the ban would be over by this time.

On some other news, Australia has been dealt with a major blow with one of their strike bowlers Josh Hazlewood ruled out of the upcoming test series against Sri Lanka with a back injury. Jhye Richardson has been called up to take his place in the team.

It is a fact and dropping catches can cost you the match and that is what happened, Dhoni gave three chances, first dropped catch when he was on zero and then after crossing fifty it was a hard chance because it was a powerful shot and then a run out chance, it was the day for MSD to get India this historic win and he made it till the end.
True and Maxwell must be kicking himself hard after the results.

Pakistan, with a very nice comeback after the Test series, won the first ODI match by 5 wickets. Interestingly, today's pitch looked like totally in batsmen favor, with almost no extra bounce. IMO, Hashim Amla's century really ruined the match for South Africa; at pitches like these, the strike rate of at least 100+ should be maintained. OTOH, Mohammad Hafeez's batting performance looked awesome as he maintained the strike rate of 110+.

Media criticizing Hashim Amla for this and they are right. in last 5 overs, they managed to make only 30-35 runs. its a crime in this era plus when you have wickets in hand.
At one stage Pakistani fan were nervous when wickets fell quickly Cheesy I was like here you go another facepalm moment for Pakistani batting line up but Hafeez and Shadab did the job beautifully for Pak.

I agree with you.
If you ask me , in one way , Warner not playing has affected finch . They both used to open and Warner used to take all the pressure off finch . Now finch will try unnecessary things if he eats up balls. If Warner comes back , it will be beneficial for Finch not a threat.

Yeah, he and the another batsman, made 93, both made a good partnership and they both played slow. Amla played the whole innings, so, he could play little aggressive and made some more run which will give them big score. Still, Pakistan made a great knock inded. Great come back after the test series.

SA would definitely be unhappy inspite of having 8 wickets in hand they did not end up even 300 runs in 50 overs. They would have wanted their batsman to after bowling even if they would have lost wicket it was fine. But credit goes to Pak bowlers who helped them to keep SA under 300 and won the match by 5 wickets and 5 balls remaining.

They were too slow to did not complete the 300 run mark. Maybe after playing the test, there were not fully prepared for the one days and this approach went wrong for them.

300+ score was easier but South Africa did not played well that is the truth. No team would stuck at below 300 while losing only 2 wickets. I do not know what was the thought of their batsman lol. Hope to see a good comeback by South Africa in next ODI.

This was the first match and I think they will learn a good lot from it and come back strongly in the next ODI. Even if they had bowl a little well, they would have grab the match as Pakistani batting line is never been strong through out the series.

Run out and Dhoni just doesn't go with each other lol . He can run faster than Bolt with pads on , if you ask me , anyone else in that situation would have been out .

I hope for the same mate as Finch in form is one of the best opening batsman in the world but like I said, I believe it has to do with the test call up. He is under more pressure to perform in test matches then in ODI's and T20's and since that test call up to replace Warner he has been in poor form which continues on into the other forms of the game where he is one of the best. The best for him to do is forget test match cricket and just concentrate on ODI and T20 again. It will be interesting to see what happens once Warner is back, that's if he gets back into the Australian team.
Finch will come back , he looked positive in the 3rd ODI actually but it was just brutal bowling by Indians and he couldn't do anything , he will be back to his old form though .

Not sure mate, Finch is in poor form of late and I actually think it has to do with playing test cricket. Since he was called up to play test cricket in the middle of last year his one day form has dropped off and his test match form isn't any better. I really think that he is just a ODI and T20 player and Australia should stick with it.
I am just hoping that he's going with some bad phase. not a good summer for him. I hate to say but his last 3 innings reminds me of KL Rahul. he's getting out on almost the same delivery in every inning. Batting coach along with Justin Langer must look into his all 3 dismissals.

Best of luck for next series against Srilanka.

Same here too mate. I am also a fan of Dhoni, because of people's criticism, it was really bad situation in social media. At the end, he is the man of the series with a 3 half centuries at a row. Yesterday, it would become a century though if there was enough run to chase. Congrats MSD.
It is true that Dhoni is the best finisher of all time and there is no doubt about that and he knows very well to time an innings perfectly and get the match to the last over, glad that there was not a tall order to catch, if not it will be a difficult task in that pitch without a doubt and Chahal bowled beautifully to restrict Australia.

Yeah, it is a long debate but it's getting very interesting and complex due to Indian Bench strength. Australia didn't deserve to win this match at any cost. You can't drop 2 catches in the low scoring match. Period

It's ideal spot for Dhoni if you ask me. Everyone knows he takes time to settle in , if he comes in 2nd down he can settle in and then start playing like he plays. He will always finish strong , that's what happens under Rohit captaincy .
It's good for Dhoni and it's good for team because he knows how to build an innings .

Ideal spot only on some occasion and it should be decide on the match situation IMHO. if top 2 wickets get out cheaply and early in the inning then Dhoni fits well in number 4. if that's not the case then Dhoni fits on number 5 or some cases even 6.

As a Dhoni fan I slept nicely yesterday Smiley When he missed a couple of chances behind the stumps and that got me worrying . He had a great day today and also thanks to Maxwell for dropping him on the first ball . 87 runs off 114 and he lead the team to win Smiley Dhoni is still Dhoni .
Congrats to Chahal on an amazing innings . Congrats to Dhoni again for being chosen as Man of the Series.

It is never easy for some one like Dhoni to be ignore because once he is back suddenly whole unit changes their mindset and this reflects in the team performance. Dhoni's presence has made the difference and due to which only today India had won this series due to his terrific performance in batting.

Undoubtedly MS Dhoni's presence has made changed the circumstance entire the Indian team. It was not easy to bat on that ground so far they were a bit nervous at beginning, but at least the India have created history with the help of superstar MS Dhoni.
MS dhoni now promoted in himself up in the batting order to create some better for power in the beginning over and he is doing well until now it is very clear that he is preparing for the world cup tournaments not just for the series.

Its always been this way. When a player does well, everyone praises him while everyone hate on the same player if the player performs badly. This logic applies to any sport anywhere around the world.

As an MSD fan myself, I never lost confidence that he is done with the game and needs to retire since he clearly lost his form and is slowly regaining it recently in a fabulous manner.

This is why I feel he will play a vital role during the upcoming world cup in a few months.

Sad , but true. A player can never be all the time in full form and people expectations form their favorite players are way too high. What makes it more worse that a recent bad performance from a player, the fans forgets about his previous good performances and in few worst situations demand resignations from this position in the team.

If Zampa start the rain still India will be disappointed. Although it's an easy target for India, things can be changed if Zampa can strike. I don't think its going to happen though. It's more likely that India will win the match within 40 overs at maximum but who knows.

Zampa was okay in this match. I was expecting more from him after seeing Chahal's tremendous spells.

Man of the match belongs to Chahal. selecting team is very long debate lol .India need 44 runs in 30 balls. another last over result is in progress. India should win this match from here, they have wickets in hands and Austraila need some wickets right now if they wanna win. Maxwell dropped the dhoni's catch when he was facing first ball of his inning and now Dhoni playing at 70   Grin

Agree with you. Finch was playing good cricket in one day international and in t20 format. I was a fan of Aaron Finch but recently he is not playing such good like as he played before. One can be the reason you mentioned but I barely believe that. In fact, test cricket is more necessary for being strengthen. I hope he will get back his form and will be able to continue assist team Australia to win.
