Croatia is not first in this crypto experiment with post offices, similar service is start in Austria, Liechtenstein, Poland.

But Croatia is have something even better if you want to buy / sell crypto without any ID. There is a literally a physical store called BitcoinStore where you can sell up to some €1000 worth of coins per transaction every day. They have their office in capital town and in town of Split which is located on Adriatic coast - so if you go there to vacation take your crypto and do not worry about tax or ID.

Hi guys, this is Nick from Bitcoin mjenjačnica, the guys that are behind this Croatian Post project. I see you have a nice discussion going on here, sorry for not joining in sooner, I didn't use my bitcointalk.org account in years so I had trouble recovering it. Anyways, if you have any additional questions, just shoot, I'm here to serve :-)

We, the Croatian Bitcoin community, are really shocked with this information and we did not expect this.
It seems that right now Croatian post office will offer this service as pilot project only in one city in Croatia- Zadar, but hopefullythis service will be extended soon to all post offices in the Republic of Croatia!
It's great step for bitcoin acceptance in Croatia.

It is a great service by the postal office as they are innovating with the changing times where they have no work with advance in technology like they once had and these sort of innovation will keep them going in the future and i wish every country should follow these sort of innovative inclusion to have a sustained business model and add further things that could attract customers.

This seems very cool. I wanted to ask a few things, though. Like, what are the fees for this exchange? Are they typical, like in any other place in general? And if not the fees, the rate (price) at which they exchange Bitcoin. If it were in my country, I would choose the post office over another place if the fees in total did not exceed, say, 7%. Another question, which is not a big matter for me but is for some other people, is KYC. You're probably required to give your passport to people in the post office, right?
Oh, and my final question, which is of interest specifically to me about this whole thing. In my country, we have both public (governmental) and private post office. Is this on the main official post office of the country, or a private one?

I'm not sure what are the fees for this exchange.

you can see fees from their partner in this project, ''Bitcoin mjenjacnica'' but maybe they have some special deal with post office.
On the FB page of the company is explained that for crypto exchange users will need only wallet and ID.
We are talking here about 3 post offices in Zadar, which participated in pilot project and in future they have plan to include post offices in whole country.
There is no private post offices in Croatia.

Wallet and ID sound reasonable, and it's cool that it's not a private post office, it kind of reflects the official attitude, then. But some fees must be there since they have to make a profit out of it, right? Regarding the link you provided, if that price of Bitcoin is the only part with fees, and it's a very good offer, I would say. And I would definitely use this if it was in my country, rather than dealing with shady private local exchanges that probably sell whatever data on customers they get and don't pay taxes. I hope this stuff comes to my country too, and congrats to Croatia for boosting Bitcoin adoption!

OK regarding their fees for the crypto exchange in the post office, here is answer from their official the FB page: ''it's only 4 %''  Smiley

It seems your government is going to adapt crypto currency in your country and this may the pilot area since post office is a public service office , so it's a win for crypto enthusiast people from Croatia , hoping that more people will be assimilated .

This is really good news and also a big step for post office, especially because it's government owned. That shows their ntention to step up with time and endorse new technologies. Hope the fees will be acceptable and they will attract a lot of users. It's also a good thing for Bitcoin promotion in such small country.

It is hard to believe if a state-owned postal service has provided services about cryptocurrency to the public, but this is extraordinary news and I am sure the growth of cryptocurrency is large in Croatia

One correction, ''Bitcoin mjenjacnica'' don't have crypto exchange office in Zagreb, it's from another company, my mistake, sorry.
I don't know yet about spread for the exchange.
I didn't see any statement from Croatian government about this project but the state owns the Croatian Post, so if they allowed this deal, it means they accept crypto.

buwaytress, all the tourists are coming to see Game of Thrones locations in Dubrovnik, not Zadar but any way Zadar is also very famous tourist city and on the way to Dubrovnik.
I don't live in Zadar so I didn't try this crypto exchange and don't know about others because this service just started, a few days ago.
OK, I just find out answer about fees on the FB page from ''Bitcoin mjenjacnica'', it's only 4 % but ID is required.
Nolimitz84 , ''bitcoin mjenjacnica'' also have crypto exchange office in Zagreb but, as you can imagine, it's expensive to open directly such offices so such deal with big state company, which have many offices around Croatia, is great deal for them but also for postal service as well because they will get more customers and increase profit eventually.
It's win- win I guess.
Yes, Croatian post offices are multi functional, and you can buy there baby toys, watches, books, send money with Western Union, open a life or health insurance, open a TV subscription and many other things.

Wow guys, that's actually really quite cool. And in English too, is that because all the tourists are coming to see Game of Thrones locations maybe?Wink I personally know 2 people booking holidays there JUST for that!

Anyone tried it out yet? Curious to know what the rates will be, or if KYC is asked for, and if so what the limits are for that;) @kryptnick, they shouldn't ask for passport if it's below a certain threshold, I guess. I'm not sure now the post office will be using its remittance licence or money transfer licence?

They should do a crypto stamp like Austrian Post recently did!
