Angus watches with amazement when a carriage with the arms of house Tavastia-rpietila arrived at his step, followed by a small retinue of horsemen. His amazement weighs his white stubbled jaw down almost to his chest when he sees the carriages door opening and two foot servants stepping out carrying a small chest.

When Angus arrived at the door he found the chest waiting at his feet with fixed note on top: "Spread the love".

Angus thought out loud: "Well, I love you too Zech. In fact, I have much love to give, but this money I'll keep to myself."  Cool

I would like to bring to GMs attention the following pending issue regarding one of my chars:

Marquess Angus Greenthumb, Earl-Pretender of Karelia, Lord of Haljala, RM, TB, CCB would like to ask the senate for a decision concerning his claims over the fair, forest covered, land of Karelia.

A Unified Solemn Decree in the Name of the Glorious Senate* Regarding the County of Karelia

This is acceptable. I can't guarantee on the promise of squirrel pellets and honey, but the land is yours.

Congratulations! And may your lands be blessed by Mother Nature and Her more infinite Wisdom,

ATTN NOBLES:

Our roads are in a terrible state and must be upgraded, so we propose that SCI, BLD and STO1 be used to see to the matter. This is a matter for the whole Town and all Counties, so the military and/or King will not foot the bill alone, so Nobles should come to agreement on the matter as soon as estimated costs are issued and construction begin.

The Margrave of Stonehaven will contribute 200 SCI to the roadmaking engineering effort. 100 SCI was already contributed in a previous call, many years ago. That's some slow and careful research Smiley

Thank you for the donation.

URGENT MESSAGE:

The King was awoken to a nervous Captain. The Captain hands the King a note:

The King sighs and laughs.

The Captain is in dumbstruck, "Wha-- Sir, this implicates--"

King, "Son, sunlight is the best disinfectant and our world must be disinfected--trust no one, least of all yourself. Now take it to the papers and publish it--there's no good reason to let it fester any longer."

Relieved, the King goes back to sleep.

Marquess Loaf wakes up in a cold sweat. In his recently disturbed dreams, he had once again found himself privy to a dialogue between Zechariah and an entity known only as the Voice. In fact, for the last few years, Loaf's wandering mind had periodically found roost in this same scenario. He was always unsure if these scenes were the fabrications of his own nocturnal mind or if he was indeed eavesdropping on an event that was actually playing out elsewhere in the kingdom.

Before the fragments of the vision dissipated entirely, Loaf was able to fixate upon once aspect in particular. A cursed powder? Could the shadows he had overheard been discussing MUM (Mummy Powder)? All of this seemed frighteningly odd!

Over recent years, as Loaf had expanded his acquisitions to not just the financial, but the purely exotic as well, he had found himself in possession of the largest cache of MUM in the kingdom, exceeding even that of the Crown! However, due to the powder's generally unknown (and rumored otherworldly) nature, he had made sure to never be in the same room with it, much less touch or consume the stuff! His chemists and researchers were the only ones who ever interacted with MUM, and even they destroyed their protective gear each time after close proximity handling was required. If Loaf's premonitions proved true, perhaps such precautions (and continual outfit replacements) had not been in vain...

Free Gifts of M2 in 10 Million Blocks

Finding himself in possession of more M2 than is safe, Marquess Loaf would like to GIVE away as much as he can. For those who are unaware, M2 is the gifting currency in the kingdom. You do not want to hold more than 1 million of them for more than one game year, as you will be fined for the excess amount. M2 are the creation of HRH Prince Royal Zechariah, who crafted them from the conversion of 5 Billion Moneretos (or 5k XMR)!

To receive your 10 million, all you need to do is send me a PM with your Player ID or message me when I am on IRC. I will be giving you 10 million M2 in the hopes that you then GIVE the excess amounts to others that you know. Perhaps you can even invite new citizens into the kingdom yourself and provide them 1 million M2 as a starting gift!

Once no character in the game owns more than 1 million M2, they will convert back to the spendable in-game currency M (Moneretos). So this is the same thing as getting 1 XMR for free!

My first sizeable gift of M2 after my experimentation a week ago will go to one of the most interesting people out there. This person has travelled far and wide, met with the most influential minds in this world, and left in his wake a sprightly river of tales of his adventures. The thread's history is awash with his wit and skill with the written word.

This gentleman needs no money, for he is as rich in M as he is in experience. Yet the Duke of New Liberty will be the one to receive 1 billion M2 as a tribute to his unique personality.

Your Highness, may your travels be fulfilling, and may your presence grace our Kingdom again.

A toast to the Duke of New Liberty,

Erin the Red, Countess of Pada.

ATTN GM:

We wish to seek an alliance with Sweden on the technologies of Road Making and Shipwright.

HMC_

Your Majesty, you should proceed by writing an appropriate storyline, then.

By order of the King, messengers were dispatched to Sweden to gain a trade alliance through the development of Shipwright and Roadmaking.

We await their reply,

HMC_

YM, be kindly informed that in order for the event to have a chance for amicable resolution, the storyline has to include the relevant details.

There is already a curse pronounced over M2 for non-compliance and there we are talking about a L4 character. Since you are in L20, Sir, you should know better that more, not less, is expected from you.

The relevant details are that I, as King, sent a messenger to the Swedes for information on an alliance in the development in Shipwright and Roadmaking. The King's God values efficiency and pointedness, so the King obliges. What more details do you require to adequately determine the costs to each nation?

In part the result of recent and repeated generosity, Marquess Loaf finds himself more drawn to the affairs of the kingdom. Part general announcement and part personal declaration, Loaf is looking to see what sort of alliances and partnerships can be made in preparation to withstand and prosper from the possible shift that has been prognosticated to occur around 1666/1667.

While Marquess Loaf had initially ventured into the kingdom is search of acquiring stakes in several firms for dividend purposes, he does notice that all those cannons, muskets, pistols, and horses in the province aren't just for decoration. Although they confound usual valuation methods, Loaf has begun to acquire some assets that may be appropriately classified as defense or weaponry; some examples:

* H9 (Gold Unicorn)
* PIS (Pistols) x 10
* PWS-6 (Most Ancient Dagger)
* PWS-29 (Dagger 'the Sting')
* PWS-30 (Dagger 'the Needle')
* PWS-36 (Shortsword 'Allegro')

Those in the kingdom may have also noticed Loaf's lowball bids on defense accoutrements such as muskets or cannons. Feel free to dump into them! Wink

Loaf also finds himself the 2nd largest holder in the Royal Weapons Works Corporation. Formerly only the Crown owned more, though it does appear that its shares have been transferred to UFO! What on earth (or what on this stray outcropping of the galaxy's outer curve) could this mean? Huh

Loaf is also looking for additional S-H1 (Horse Production Shares). Even if we are to deal with a possible interplanetary menace, perhaps they are more earthbound than starbound and will react positively to a sharpened blade in the hand of a keen rider. Maybe acquiring and breeding the best stallions and mares is a prudent course of action for the time being. Wink

Or, if they have such a large financial stake in S-RW already, perhaps they are at a more relatable level on which we can still communicate and trade rather than some wholly incomprehensible plane of being, supported by, say, a Matrioshka Brain or the like...wow...the things you envision with consistent CAN usage...

Anyway, please feel free to post or send PMs to me if you are interested! Smiley

Marquess Loaf wakes up with indigestion. 10 FOIE was perhaps the incorrect pairing for 5 CLXII, 10 W1600M, and 5 VOD. Even though a AYA and SW4 were downed for good measure, they did little to reduce the torturous digestive tumult that was currently taking place. Loaf squints, trying to recall what the portions were for the FOIE. Even if they were just 1 oz. a piece, that was almost 1500 calories from that meal alone! Ashamed, he promises to give the carriage and horses a break today and walk everywhere...

Hoping to work off his dietary discontent, Loaf elects to start his day with an audit of the storehouses. As he approaches them, he is shocked to be met with a steward of HH Grand Duke Paul. The Grand Duke, noticing Loaf's recent bid for 11k BLD, has instead elected to GIVE them away rather than sell them! 11 was indeed a good number!

Loaf considers if the manner in which the number was selected may have had something to do with this second bout of good fortune. BLD was the only major consumption item Loaf lacked. There are roughly 770k BLD available and, as with SCI and IC, Loaf wanted to target 1.1% ownership for use and speculation purposes. The 0.1% is earmarked for the event of an x10 increase in the price of the item. That portion could be sold to recoup the initial investment if needed.

Although ~ 8,470 BLD was the more exact 1.1% amount, it just didn't feel like the "correct" number. Loaf instead noticed current asks and bids in blocks of 1k and elected to go for a 10k stake with 1k extra in the case of speculative forces moving the asset's value up quickly.

Loaf finds himself speechless at the generosity of the Grand Duke. Unsure of what to do in return for one that has everything, he marvels appreciatively in the direction of the Versailles Palace. Quite the novice in the world of land and property speculation, Loaf marvels at the 500 CUL the Palace produces each year! Obsessed with ROI, Loaf was completely unaware that property in the kingdom could bring forth CUL and IC, but now feels foolish at his oversight. The Palace estate alone occupies 2k sqm (about 1/3 of Loaf's complete land holdings, which are no doubt dwarfed by the Grand Duke's total acreage) and so much splendor housed in one place is certainly breathtaking!

So in an effort to balance the forces of both STO and STS, I decided to share my good fortune with Bucket directly, and gifted him with doubles of all that he purchased. Even the 10k STO1 that he donated has now returned to him Smiley
I thank his Lordship and will ponder on how best to keep this positive spiral going

From the desk of Marquess Loaf:

Much thanks to Zechariah, Jacket, and Mooo for the pushing the positive vibes my way; it was a great surprise! Smiley

Let me sort of share how this process played out in a more "global" sense. I was reviewing my ledgers yesterday regarding CK investments and noticed S-RW was still around a 50% paper loss for me. I placed a bid to get my shares to a more rounded/pleasant number as well as reduce my average buy-in, not expecting the bid to be filled as I was already one of the largest holders of S-RW.

To provide some quick background detail, as a relative newcomer to CK, S-RW has always been a firm of particular interest to me. Aside from its monopoly on defense and construction related accouterments, such as windows, mirrors, carriages, and weaponry, my review of the historic CK records revealed that it had paid some fantastic dividends in the past. I routinely saw well over 100k per share, as high as 500k, and even novel distributions such as 1 MIRR per share (which were historically sold at 1M).

Even during the recent pause, and after XMR had gone to new heights, S-RW had such strong cash reserves that it was able to provide a 150k per share dividend. To compare, at current prices S-RW trades at a mere x2 of that!

Returning to the events of today, I logged into my account to find my S-RW shares had increased in number, yet without a pairing decrease in my M balance. Amazed, I checked my change log to see that my whole bid amount, and more, had been gifted to me rather than sold! Amazing!

At this stage, I found myself in conflict between both STS and STO. Occurrences like this seem to awake a moral "Roko's basilisk" of sorts. It stretches the metaphor somewhat, but I am now aware of the gift and the forces at work that resulted in said gift may look upon me negatively if I engage in full STS.

I at first considered making a post and a blanket offer of some shares to new players. However, logic (or perhaps STS) had several arguments against this. For example, maybe such a gift would be more beneficial if the game was in a more active state. Maybe it would be better to hold on to the shares. I had watched the value of S-RW go down consistently as others dumped into its strong market making. Maybe it's better to have distribution as it is now to help cushion the impact of this further.

Honestly though, I can not argue that one point in keeping the shares was with the large dividends in the past in mind. Perhaps it would be better to hold the asset, but share the dividends, particularly if they are game items such as windows.

However, investigating the log on S-RW further, I did notice something interesting. After the gifting entries, I did see that Bucket had purchased a share of S-RW. Looking at Bucket's change log, I saw that immediately after receiving his gift, he purchased 10k STO1, granted it to the lot raffle, and then proceeded to purchase:

* 1 S-RW
* 1k CAN
* 5k STO1 (15k STO1 total w/ raffle gift)
* 100 CK

I was particularly touched by the stone donation, and remember receiving a decently valuable gold coin myself as a result of the lot raffle.

So in an effort to balance the forces of both STO and STS, I decided to share my good fortune with Bucket directly, and gifted him with doubles of all that he purchased. Even the 10k STO1 that he donated has now returned to him. Smiley

I'd like to ask a few questions concerning buildings:
Concerning the CK City Map & Building Database google docs:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ln1LSQwPajGNMhtQ8LieWKyQ4rgo-Vnr6-NHkx-Ee00

how relevant is it? If it and game info disagree game supersedes? (like when the offered 1 xmr noobshacks are show as 24 sqm in map, 7sqm in game)
google docs says max building height in borough 4 is 15m, there are houses for sale with 16m.

Another question:
There are plots with buildings for sale in b4 and b9 for max. 2xmr. Any Opinions which would be the better buy? B4 buildings offer better payouts but they are 3 floor buildings in a doomswamp.
good, noob friendly OTC offers welcome

Welcome Smiley

The 1991 mention is a reference to the intended feel of the game to be similar to games from that era, most notably Ultima, IIRC. Turns out it didn't really, but as they say, the best plans don't survive contact with the enemy Smiley
