In 2017 they could make profits by investing in any projects, because the hype of market. As far as I had observed in the past months in the crypto market, I would say that the current market condition is just very low and almost stagnant that it had never surpass the resistance to grow forward. However, I believe that many btc investors are just holding their btc's since they know it will pump soon and the question is when will that bull market will take effect. In my opinion, I strongly believe that this bullmarket is near enough and will just have to wait few months from now. Don't stress yourself in to this situation as cryptomarket will recover soon.
Disappointment in the cryptocurrency market applies only to speculators. To know that whales don't panic, the future of cryptocurrencies is bright, you only need to choose the right coin. Buy plenty of patience. The market will definitely give you a positive future.

This is just common situation. We had similar condition earlier also yet who did not give up gained a lot last december. I feel this is the situation investors need now.

It has died before also but it has come back and rise more, that is the nature of investing, you see a price dropped and you see a price pump, what's necessary is that you stick with your strategy and a good strategy includes long term investment which would help you to hold.
currently the market condition is bearish of course very risky if you want to make profit in trading so to avoid losses but monthly income still exists I prefer to hold altcoins that provide dividends every month ie; NPXS, KICK, and MNX the result is not much but enough to buy food and pay a monthly bill, I will do this at least until the market is bull run
