I saw this as soon as i got home from work and thought the market had gone through the floor.

You guys know what happend to the profitability of this miner?
It went down over 60% in the last 6-8h!

What-To-Mine still shows 45-50$
NiceHash calculator the same: 45-50$
But they don't use real-time data so this is wrong...

Here you can see what you really earn: https://www.asicminervalue.com/miners/dayun/zig-z1
We are down to 20$ -somthing a day

An my app (NiceHash Monitor) tells me the same...20$ -somthing a day.

wow, not good.. vertcoin network hashrate went from 1.35Th/s to 3.4Th/s, monacoin went from 4Th/s to 8Th/s. Guess some big mining operation or a more powerful asic came online

I see, let me guess...

Soon Bitmain will announce a new lyra2rev2 asic that will be shippend in 1-2month.
Truth is, the miners are already build and they are using them before they sell them...just a theory but some ppl say this happend before.

How to upgrade thermal paste to more stability and cool the chips.
Original thermal paste will dry and lower conduct the heat. And not full of contact surface.

1.this is picture front and back of board
https://ibb.co/iZ8bwL
https://ibb.co/nKjS30

2. Screw of at front 6 screw each heat sink then clean the old thermal paste , you will see a not full contact surface
then unscrew 2 screw to release the back plate.(Direct contact to PCB board) and clean
https://ibb.co/mvU5qf
https://ibb.co/mwFObL
https://ibb.co/fYxEi0

3. clean PCB board
https://ibb.co/dGbUGL

4. place a Arctic MX-4. I choose it because high conductivity of heat 8.5watt/MK , cheap and durability for 8 years.
put the black plate to cover the back and screw 2 screw
https://ibb.co/jpwUGL

put thethermal paste to your chips and spread to make sure fully contact surface.
https://ibb.co/etiLO0

Finish, result decrease in 2-3 celcius in the same condition. better stability for hashing.
I use approximate 10-12g of arctic MX-4. then you must prepare enough thermal paste.
statistic from nicehash, this is Z1 not Z1+
https://ibb.co/bQTC30

What were your before and after temps?

Mine are currently at 34-35 C for all four boards without any changes, ambient 22C.

I was able to get mine working by burning this firmware on a new USB stick:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1z564S10Q3SWN8-8_HmreuUCQEI_gXYl9

Not sure how to load this onto the USB, do you need to extract the files first.

Z1 not booting at all.

There is included usb imaging software in the first folder I believe.  You also need to unzip the .7z file, because it contains the image.  Run the imaging software and choose the image that was unzipped.

I used a different usb drive thanwhat came with it and after a couple user error problems, I got it to work.

Can you elaborate on how you got it to work? I bought a 16 GB flash drive and loaded the image via the included exe, but I can't connect to the machine's web interface to make changes or set the static ip.
Are you on a 192.168.1.x network, the default IP is 192.168.1.100

No, I'm on 192.168.0.x
That's your problem. Either give yourself a 192.168.1.x address and connect to the ASIC directly to change the Z1 IP to 192.168.0.x, or change your network to 192.168.1.x. You could cheat by changing the subnet on the network from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.0.0

So I switched my network to 192.168.1.x, but I still can't get it at 192.168.1.100 and I can't see it on the ip scanner or my router. My service goes from cable modem to Tenda wireless router to a switch (via ethernet) and then to the asic. Any other suggestions?  I've also been trying to reset it, is there a special sequence for that?  Thanks for your help BTW, this one is stumping me!
It might not work now since you messed with the USB. Did the USB creation involve running an EXE program that writes an ISO image file to the USB?

I used the imageUSB exe that was included in the zip file and I wrote the z1_static_100_09_14 image file to it.
Why would you do that? You can just enter the interface and upload the new firmware from the settings. Did it work after all? I did firmware upgrade thru the interface settings and it's working for 5 days without any problems. Less Hw errors and rejects...
The ASIC was on a different network, he assumed that it was not working

I got it!

My stupid free windows unzip "App" didn't create a proper image file... re-extracted (while watching ads, not minimized) and it works!  Thanks for the help!
Hello,
I think i am experiencing the same issue that you had. My miner has a red light on it and I can no longer find my IP address. It worked fine for weeks but then i unplugged it and plugged it back in and the red light was there. What exactly did you put on the USB to make it work. I tried using a new USB that i bought and putting the new firmware on it and putting it in the miner but I still wasn't able to log into my miner. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I have been mining the Zig Z1 for a couple of weeks now -- have tried a number of sites -- individual coins and multi-coin sites -- best I have come across so far a Prohash and Zpool.  I found suprnova had issues with the hashrate falling off precipitously, experienced a less severe gradual decline at blockmaster as well.  Zpool seems to be consistent however have to reboot machine every two to three days or so to keep hashrate up.  Running at 850mhs -- average hashrate 6-6.2.

Try what was noted earlier in the forum...  Change the foillowing in an exported JSON:
 From: "auto_frequent":"0","frequency":"850"

to

"auto_frequent":"1","frequency":"1000"

It worked wonders for me.

Will this settings work for Z1+ too ?

So i unplugged my Zig Z1 to install a shroud and when i plugged it back in the red light was on and I now cant log into my miner from the ip address. Tried hard reset and scanning for a different IP address but I can log into it all all. Has anyone experiance this or have any ideas on how to fix this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know where to purchase replacement hashboard ribbon cables? It turns out 1 of the cables was defective, thus not letting me hash from 1 board. All the replacement cables are 18 pin connectors however this one appears to be a 20 pin connector and i can't find one ANYWHERE. thanks

Thanks, will do! To be honest, I have been chatting to the owner since Wednesday and he has been very supportive of my hesitancy to do business with a unknown supplier, to the extent of answering many many questions as well as sending pictures of the actual units that will be shipped. I will provide a more comprehensive update once I receive the miner but for now, the experience has been very good. I eventually paid with BTC, so that cost an additional $100 but it was much better than the other conventional methods requested by the suppliers on Alibaba. Considering I am from South Africa, the trade assurance fees were +/-$150, the conversion fee from Rand to Dollar via MasterCard or Visa was approx. 2.5% of purchase price and Alibaba charged another 2.4% as a transaction fee. There probably was some other surprises as well. Hopefully I don’t get screwed by customs so waiting anxiously.

Like I said, I will provide the full breakdown when I receive the miner...

Could be interested to know how your experience goes.

I actually went the route of ordering a first unit with BTC from an Alibaba verified supplier before purchasing more. Single Z1+ with Bitmain psu and DHL express shipping to Canada ended up at 0.66 BTC. Binance was showing at 4315$ but google was showing it as 4215$ at time of purchase.

I'll post feedback about how it went in a few days.

I realized that you need to use the exchange the supplier is using to prevent any surprises. AKMiner uses www.huobipro.com and the price range changes very quickly so We agreed to the BTC price on WhatsApp and I made immediate payment. Once the machine has landed I will share the experience I had with another supplier from Alibaba

Hoping for a good experience with AKMiner from order to delivery so we all can benefit going forward. If all works out like it should, AKMiner should become high on our list of preferred suppliers. Gees I should be asking them for commission - just kidding😜

I understand.  I think you said you have free electricity too.  I don't know how technical you are though.  If you know you are going to have to spend +/- 20 minutes a day and occasional downtime to make these work and think that lyra2rev2 will stay profitable for at least 6 months (and the coins won't fork) then go for it.  But it is a high risk type of decision.

I purchased 6 Z9 minis with the first and second batch, and they have almost paid for themselves and could still sell them if I wanted... so sometimes it works out.  Maybe this one will, maybe it won't but I am banking on bitcoin (because I use nicehash) going back up in the future so that will help my overall profit.

Thanks for this feedback, what daily profitability are you getting from the Z9 mini’s? The price has dropped and Bitmain has them for $630 + $100 for PSU and delivery. I can get 4 or 5 of these hence the question.

Hi streenip:

Glad to hear you just booked one machine of Z1 from www.akminer.com below:
https://www.akminer.com/all-products/lyra2rev2-asic-miner-dayun-zig-z1-ship-now-free-shipping-psu-and-power-cable-included

I believe Jason the owner wants you write this purchase feel here after you have received that machine.

change  and remove the # in front of :

Worked wonders for me too -- thanks for the tip about prohashing -- found it reflects a much more consistent hashrate -- has done wonders for my Z9's too.

I setup the miner yesterday, updated the firmware, and after letting it run i was only getting hashes from the Unit 1 hashboard, the other 3 were dead. I reset the miner directly from the PSU and from the "restart machine" option on the portal. After every reset only the first hashboard showed any activity. I decided to take the hashboards out and swapped them around to different positions. After turning it on again, STILL the only working hashboard was the first unit. Is this a control board problem? Firmware? Any help would be great, thanks.

Have you tried the latest firmware (at least 0926 one)?

Also check that the cables between the control and hash-boards are seated properly. You might have to open the control board cover to verify.
