I received the same email and wonder how they got my email address.

I remember I was investigating how to file a complaint. However I don't think I did because I could not find how to make a complaint from Canada.

If someone can remind me, was there a general form that was filled for UK police? Thanks!

I and some others filed a complaint with actionfraud and encourage you to see if they will share what they are doing.

I have and I, too, recommend people file a Fraud Report Form http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

The more alerts the authorities can be given, the more likely Jawad and Co can be stopped before the money is irrecoverable.

Also, I'm left wondering if Cointelegraph received payment from Razormind for publishing the stories, such as one would do for press releases.

Frankly Cointelegraph have an appalling record on that front, with active and known scams still being promoted through adverts, advertorials, sponsored articles and those which are non-sponsored but clearly unresearched and utterly lacking the most basic of due diligence.

As I have said before, a journalist doesn't have to put out a negative article on a project or service they suspect is a scam, but they sure as shit shouldn't be putting out uncritical pieces on projects or services which are riddled with easily-found holes and red flags from the outset.

I will be interested in the subsequent articles in the series, Niall, but let's not kid ourselves here, your claim towards having not received a cent from this sham company doesn't really explain your evident voluntary participation in it. You must have been offered something and the question is going to be when you were offered that 'something'. Was it prior to or after the two promotional articles you wrote which read as though Razormind were a serious corporate entity with bold assertions such as, "A UK company Razormind is going to be rivalling Ethereum offering alternative options in crypto, blockchain and smart contracts to corporate giants such as Microsoft, Eris and IBM. "?

This is a good time then to announce some great friends:

On the one hand you claim the sham company Razormind and its subsequent sham 'crowdsale' to be akin to the cryptographic puzzle Kryptos and have just posted:
Quote
It was me who didn't do my due dilligence properly and ask for evidence of offices and a headcount of staff.

Yet nobody needed an onerous headcount of staff, you simply needed to look the company up on the UK Companies House Register https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/ to see it had only been incorporated in February of this year, with a semi-detached residential house as R.O. and that all prior incorporations linked to Jawad and Phil have ended up in compulsory strike-off.

I get that your defence is predicated on not realising it was a scam until too late, but to now be painting it as being so complex and convoluted a scam that you could not easily see that the company was a sham is just absurd and, given CT's history of doing absolutely fuck-all about the scams promoted on its own website, you'll have to excuse my cynicism as to your claim CT didn't get any money from this.

Jawad on the run?

Looks like he has finally deleted his facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/jawad.yaqub

**edit** He did not delete his facebook, he just changed the url. My facebook support inbox features a reply from facebook staff when I had reported him for having a fake name, which includes a link to his profile. Unfortunately for him, the link now points to his new facebook url. https://www.facebook.com/jawad.y.joya

May he spend the rest of his days hiding and looking over his shoulder.

I'm also looking for more story ideas, feel free to PM me or post here if you have any.

surprised you even referenced this in the article as I thought everybody already knew that year's award essentially results in everyone being able to claim they were 'awarded' the title.

Not surprised he used that since he is always so willing to claim false credentials, like claiming a phd in 'a.i.' from a university that offers no such thing. He has a degree in philosophy which is the easiest degree anybody could ever get. It is as worthless as a degree in liberal arts or gender studies.

Umm, to be honest I was surprised you even referenced this in the article as I thought everybody already knew that year's award essentially results in everyone being able to claim they were 'awarded' the title.

1. Is it possible one of Jawad's family members has a spouse that is authorized to live in the barracks?
The whole family is listed on the voters roll as being registered to that address a few years back, that wouldn't be possible if it was simply the home of a spouse.

2. I can't seem to find the source for the frequently-cited "millions and millions of pounds" audio clip. It seems to be no longer available.

https://clyp.it/h1nan1uz

Is there another source for it?
Either the link expired or it was taken down by Ish. You'd need to ask him to post it up again I think. A bunch of us in this thread listened to it, though, as you can see there are a number of posts made directly quoting from it. Jawad absolutely did exclaim in it "I have literally got millions of pounds, more money than I have ever had in my entire life!", referencing the funds received from the crowdsale.

Ok, I've gone through the whole recording and Jawad basically spends the entire time after instructing Ish to tell Nick from Vanbex to go fuck himself about his 3btc crowdsale investment, complaining about Ish having gone away for two weeks without telling him and repeatedly slagging Vanbex off for "fucking us over".

Ish, why does he feel Vanbex screwed him over?

Because I bet this article of theirs http://www.econotimes.com/Razorminds-DeOS-Crowdsale-Raises-US-$19M-in-Bitcoin-241414 helped him collect a lot more than the six thousand dollars they were being paid.

This:
JAWAD 38:55 : "I have literally got millions of pounds, more money than I have ever had in my entire life. [sound abruptly cuts at this point to Jawad then talking about how Ishmail wasn't around when he needed to get advice from him]"

Pretty much is what we suspected all along, that Jawad considers that 'crowdsale' (ICO) money as his.

Also, going back to the beginning of the call, at 4:50 Ish ask if Phil (Sturgeon) is going to be coming into the office and Jawad answers in a somewhat dismissive way, "Yes, he will, so will [Adams?] and all the others. . .just . . ." but then redirects the focus to something he's doing on his desktop, "Let me just check this thing, tokens are going out . . ."

It is almost as though he doesn't want the topic of the discussion to remain on the issue of Phil and others coming into 'the office'. Listen for yourself, you'll see what I mean.

To prospect for funds under a false premise
And then attempt to launder those proceeds
through cash are serious offences and as
it amounts to several million USD in value
It is likely to be dealt with by the Serious Fraud Office.

Correct, this bullshit 'it was a crowdsale not an ICO' excuse doesn't cover for the fact that people would have bought into this 'crowdsale' under the impression that Razormind was a substantial operation with hundreds of staff and offices all over the world and that DeOS was already a legitimate platform with 27,000 active users. As he intended through his intentionally fraudulent website and interviews.

That it netted him several million dollars in bitcoin elevates it to an SFO-level response at the very least.

I'm kind of surprised nobody caught this.

Among his list of impressive credentials supplied for a 2015 talk on computer programming languages on Youtube, is this gem:

"He has done a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and was voted Time’s Man of the Year in 2006."

I had to know who it actually was, and lol'd when I discovered he was right (in a way).

Okay CD, I read the whooollle thread and I have a couple of questions.

Since this is all public information now anyway, might as well answer here for everybody to understand.

1. Is it possible one of Jawad's family members has a spouse that is authorized to live in the barracks? That would explain the "MI-5 connection." Perhaps he himself never lived there, but either a sister or a brother had a spouse with a military / government job.

2. I can't seem to find the source for the frequently-cited "millions and millions of pounds" audio clip. It seems to be no longer available.

https://clyp.it/h1nan1uz

Is there another source for it?

Jawad aka Razormind

Is currently got the BTC raised held
In several wallets some small some larger
This is all a method to make the trace
Difficult.

Has anyone had a chance to listen to the
Recording I posted.

I listened to the audio clip.  My honest impression now is that I'm left feeling even more confused about what the hell is going on.  Ish did indeed do some work with the crowdsale, and it sounds like there are others involved too.  So that makes me think there was actually a coordinated effort to have a purpose around something such as DEOS.  He talked about wanting to make Ish partner/VP, and that he disappeared for 2 weeks, which he was quite upset about because he needed the help.

....

One final thought...at 39 minutes into the audio Jawad is talking about having millions of pounds, more than anything he has had in his life.

OK that's all I have to ask for now. Thanks.
