My guess is that they will start shipping when they get back after the festival smack dab on the 12th, but nothing else will happen until then, including no new S9 batch announcements.

Looks like I was wrong. Bitmain says they're going to announce a 12.9 TH/s variant of the S9 tonight.

I thought that Chinese companies took their festivals seriously. The fact that someone at Bitmain is working during a national holiday is interesting.

Maybe the uptake for the overpriced S9 just before the halving has been less than they expected. It will be very interesting to see the price of this new slightly lower powered S9 batch.

been drinking tonight so all comments could make 0 sense at all.

but I have 6 coins burning a hole in my pocket for gear.

I think the negative is gear shutting off to make way for the new stuff.  My conspiracy theory of a ~30% attack to control difficulty is just that, a conspiracy theory.  Realistically I think this is the calm before the storm before the halving.

My hope for having is it finnaly get's some of the old machines off the network.  A cut in in profits will hurt us all... but old gear that has remained  on network might finnaly come off who knows.   I do agree we will see postive eventually as some will replace with new gear like S9 and for same amount of electricity will get a heck of a lot more hash.

The biggest thing I don't believe the conspiracy for is I think if someone has 30 percent they would want it online hashing away before having.  Just a lot of profit lost if they leave it turned off.

As far as value this period were starting around 580 on coinbase. So still a decent gain from last period hopefully we see some positive movement on price this time to.

I think nobody expected a negative difficulty last time. S9's are shipped so they are not working, is this the main reason? I don't really know who speculate this market. Mining is like a gambling, hard to even make ROI but some big players always win something. Next difficulty will be positive, probably.

well what will this mean:

Please note that it is a 3-day National Holiday in China from June 9 to June 11, 2016 so we will neither be able to respond to queries nor be able to carry out shipping of any orders or repairs during this time.

their site says s9 b1 will ship 12 july.. was this always the ship date? or did it change with this announcement?

course someone there could switch "on" the stockpile of waiting to be shipped s9s just before the party starts.

The ship date was always the 12th. Hopefully Bitmain took the festival into account when they planned their S9 ship dates. It would be a shame for the early buyers if this was a repeat of the S7 B1 late shipping debacle.

My guess is that they will start shipping when they get back after the festival smack dab on the 12th, but nothing else will happen until then, including no new S9 batch announcements.

What this translates to is the S9 public release will have no impact on the hash rate till somewhere around the 15th. That means a little over half this adjustment period will be unaffected by the S9.

Unless of course they're already shipping to the big farms and letting the little guys wait.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?

picks are only open during a window in the middle of each difficulty period. just keep an eye on the thread.

So interesting last Period and congrats to those who were the closest. Nice to have another negative and it does make you wonder about these spikes?

Particularly when a period is Zero or Negative are we sure that it's not just variance with this being a "not much happened Period" with the couple of high days towards the end just bringing us back close to zero?

We would BTW have been much closer to zero if Bitfury had not been offline, as d57heinz reported, 4 days ago.

Looking for campaign manager? Contact icopress!
You may want to change the title if still possible. You meant "to june 20", right?

It was a rare period with fall in difficulty and quite a rise on the price. Will the diff rise a lot? Or maybe not? It will be interesting! And the prize rose too because of rollover.
I love this game!

Well nicehash has a value for renters and for sellers of hash .

Nicehash sometimes, but only sometimes is a very good deal.

If you are selling to nicehash and want to earn more then standard you really need to understand how to do it .

 First go here {see screen shot below}

and check the rates for 1000th
for now 2.401 is the break even number.

So if you sell to nicehash you need to sell at  2.521 you will be paid about 101 percent.

this means you must set your p=2.521
and actually more like 2.55  and put nicehash first and kano or any pool you want second.

for me I use nicehash and set well above the thresh hold number of 2.521  I set at 2.777

which is 10% over
so  I consider the posting by nicehash to lack some needed transparency.

this is selling your hash to them

buy from them.  2.401 x .95 = 2.281  so if you can rent as low as 2.281  it would be good.

my rentals from them were quite a bit   50 coins a year.  no longer so. as they did something I thought was wrong to the winner of a solo block last fall.

ever since then I have rented less. there are the only company in the world of crypto coins that i know of that run the way they do.

So I give them some support as I think their business model should exist.
I do think they are a bit stupid in that they lack transparency and they would still do well by being more transparent.
