That's also my guess. Big miners plan to turn on their new gear farm when the halving happens but they will be tempted to do it before. And my guess is they will do it before.

When we think about it, with the difficulty increases we got since Nov. (x3), when they say "the halving is already priced in" they're wrong. Wink

I am hoping for a under 5 percent week either way it's hard to complaign with BTC's current price on coinbase in 670. So a little up/down with getting so close to 700 but still some good numbers. Hopefully we push it even further would really like to crush through 700 by end of period and have it as new base. But even if we are high 600's I will be pretty happy.

Calm before the S9 storm, 1st batch online within a few days and then 2nd batch shortly after. Also Bitmain will be putting them online as soon as off assembly line. So I think its a little like when S7 first started shipping, the 2 months after release we shot up 50%

Taking profits on btc is very difficult. The method above or something like it allows for you to be partly correct no matter what happens.

It makes it impossible to be fully wrong. being fully wrong when you can avoid it must never be allowed to happen.

yup my strategy is close to that; sell some, hodl most. i have profited well even with high electric cost.

after all, BTC is only worth what you sell it for at the time, not what it used to be or might be.

Probably due to a large amount of people selling (can't even call dumping at this point) their bitcoins, because only a month ago it was near 300$. Still, it looks like old miners are being turned on, because shortly before and after the price rose, we saw a small peak of hashrate. This'll probably be normal throughout the days before the halving, then we'll see a huge drop of hashrate and difficulty as old miners become turned off, and because there's just a higher ratio of old miner hashrate than s9 hashrate, at least as of now. Later past the halving, we'll probably see a return of hashrate as Bitmain's S9's get turned on, but it'll be a slow climb.
That said, I think hashrate will cap or keep a slow climb, so +2.74 = leowonderful is my guess.
