Mining Algorithm #3: DigiGPU (Skein)

I tried this over night here's what i found

1- i keep getting pool connection interrupted

2- no accepted shares show only the total changes over time

3- when i walk up i found that my miner went idle after couple of hours of mining (no shares accepted and no mining at all)

Hello!  Smiley

It's the Hibtc team here, we'd like to invite your community to take part in our Coin Voting process.
Only active members of community can choose which currencies should be trading on Hitbtc.
You can vote for DigiByte (284 votes at present) and add it to Hitbtc. Every few weeks we add the coin with the highest number of votes. We've already added Doge and are in the process of adding NXT now.
A small tip: you can sign in here: https://hitbtc.com/signin and add 10 votes instead of one from non-registered users.
The other way to add a coin to the exchange is our Market Maker program. We add any coin with two Market Maker contracts, irrespective of the number of votes it has. Take a look here: https://hitbtc.com/mm
Our exchange offers unrivalled advanced technology and our latest additions have seen their exchange rates thrive once live on our platform. We think it would be a great opportunity to give your coin excellent publicity, and secure a boost to its value and liquidity.

Any questions, feel free to ask!

Did some test with SKEIN algo. I don't know what to expect in terms of performance, but this is what I got from a 2×6990 setup:

No, no blocks/shares that I can see.

No Yay!!! or Booooo next to any of the lines.  Any setting you would like me to change?

I've used the username: groestl and the password: iWanttominesomedgbGroestl (both sensitive of case) to connect to  http://69.164.206.169:20001

I haven't tried changing any of those setting to see if I get a connect error. If I change the port number, username, or password I get a related error message.  So it looks like those settings are correct.

Oh, and on a forum related note: when I post a reply to this thread I get an error that the Subject exceeds 80 characters and I have to delete some of it.

UPDATE:

I just setup CudaMiner to test the DigiLitecoin (scrypt) algo and started getting shares almost immediately.  I'll leave it running for the next 30 min or so to check it's stable and then update this with some more info.

UPDATE 2:

After an hour of testing with CudaMiner (28 Feb 2014 Release) using a K6x28 launch config I've got 277/280 shares and an average hashrate of 176kh/s.

Provided it is possible to get shares using the Myriad-Groestl algo, it seems to be considerably more effective and less taxing on my system.  Below is the comparision, with Myriad-Groestl beating out Scrypt on every measure (except for shares, the most important one  Tongue)

Algorithm:            Myriad-Groestl vs Scrypt
Software:             ccMiner v1.2 vs CudaMiner r28Feb
Hashrate:             8250kh/s vs 176kh/s
GPU Core Freq:     966MHz Boost vs 888-940MHz Boost
GPU Core Temp:   80degC vs 82degC
GPU Fan Speed:    1830RPM vs 2040RPM
GPU Mem Usage:  175MB vs 846MB

I'm going to go back to mining with Digi3to1 (Myriad-Groestl) for now, and see if I get any shares at all.

UPDATE 3:

It appears that I do find shares, they are just few, and very far between.  Earlier, when I had been mining for around 4 hours, I saw an "Accepted 2/2 Yay!!!" message.  However, my command prompt history only goes back around 30 min, and there was no sign of the first accepted share.

I got home 2 hours ago and have been checking in every 20 min or so, and there's no sign of any additional shares being accepted over that time.

Hi

I've just started mining using the Digi3to1 (Myr-Groestl) algo.  Below are details of the machine, software, etc. if anyone wants to compare hashrates:

Alienware X51
GPU: nVidia Geforce GTX 660 1.5GB (This is an OEM version of the 660)
Stock GPU Settings: 824MHz Core and 1400MHz Memory (Current Boost: 966MHz, no change after 30min)
CPU: i7-4770
RAM: 8GB
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Graphics Driver: 337.88

Mining Software: ccMiner v1.2

Hashrate: Around 8250kh/s

Let me know if there's any other info that missing that may be relevant.

I have around 3GH/s of ASICMiner USBs that I'll be able to use to test DigiBitcoin (Sha256), but I won't be able to configure them until later today.  I'll update this post once I do.
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing and helping out with testing!

Are you getting shares/blocks with the nVidia card?

Can someone share the conf file (not bat file ) sample for skein algo for r9 280x

when i run the normal scrypt conf it gives me hardware error

Thanks
Are you running the modified miner?

yes i'm, does each algo need diffrent wallet address or just the normal wallet? i'm asking cuase in getting started it says skein wallet address is this special wallet

thanks for the conf above it works fine

No, one address will work fine when actual mining starts in main net. The testnet one will work fine as well right now for algos. Thanks for helping with testing! Smiley

Jared,
Really nice to see this being rolled out and you executing on what you said you would. Better to take time to be safe and secure than rush.

YC

We have talked with the Myriadcoin devs as well as other devs and it appears to not be possible to include groestl with NOMP. No one to date has got groestl running on a NOMP pool.

We are now in the process of getting Groestl set up on a second MPOS pool. We will try and get everything set up under the same front end but no guarantees.

We are able to solo mine all 5 algos, but for testing purposes we want to get everyone to link to a single pool so we have some very accurate network data when we run the 48 hour mining test. Will post another update tonight or tomorrow morning as we get closer to the test.

So does this mean that changing "normalHashing": true, in the coin definition in NOMP didn't work?
No it did not.

To get things rolling we will be starting a large scale 48 hour mining test tomorrow at 8 PM UTC, that's 4 PM in New York, 1 PM in Los Angles.
We could use all the test hash we can get! We will be posting detailed instructions on how to connect to the test pool in the next few hours.

We will also be posting details on which mining software you will need for each algo. This is a great learning experience for those new to multi-algo.

Please note this will be on TESTNET only. The coins mined will not be actual coins. Our goal is to throw as much hash on all 5 algos as possible to make sure we have no issues like we did with the last 2.9.1 update. This is also why we want to run the test for 24-48 hours.

You should consider some kind of a giveaway even if it's a small one, otherwise you can't really expect people to throw a lot of hash at the testnet. It just does not work like that.

Very good point.  Guess it depends on how large of a test you are looking for
We would love to have a reward for everyone, but we are tapped out and at the end of our development funding until we receive the first disbursement of outside investment. The pre-mine is almost completely depleted.

We look at it like this, we are a community and everyone will benefit by donating a few hours of hash toward the network. We will run the test for 48 hours but this does not mean we expect people to run their miners for a full 48 hours.

Download a different algo miner, play around with it, change it, switch algos and then after a few hours go back to mining as normal. We want to simulate real life hash swings here. Making sure everything works will benefit everyone in the long run! Thanks again for all your patience and support!
