psychological subjection, if theymos makes a pizza, many will be tempted to vote for theymos' pizza even if it's not the most beautiful pizza

to have voters who vote objectively, in my opinion, we need to publish the pizzas anonymously so people can really vote for the one they like
This is a very good idea, I second this!

That's a very good idea. Otherwise, the sympathy factor will always play a part in the vote and end up distorting the result. But how would this be possible without a lot of effort? It can't the right way that we send the pictures of our pizza to icopress by PN Wink

Does anyone have any ideas?
I don't see what the problem is: when we take pictures of the pizza we simply take one picture with the paper showing the username and the second picture without the paper, we upload them to talkimg.com and we send them by PM to icopress so he's going to post the anonymous picture on the thread and saves the one with the username for the end of the contest, just to show who made the pizzas that won the contest.

Publishing the pizzas anonymously would require more effort in coming up with the best way to do it, and in my opinion it is going to reduce the fun in the contest.
It would also remove the incentive of joining to earn Merit, but I agree it makes it less fun.
Since you cannot be certain of the reason why a member is joining the contest, then i don't think it is a bad idea if the participants earn merits from their submissions. Take note they'll be putting in time, money and effort into it, and i am sure the bad entries would earn no merits or votes, so if the good entries earn merits, then it is great in my opinion and can qualify as a 'good or quality post'. You of all people shouldn't be complaining of this, you have so much smerits that you have been 'struggling' to send out, this could be a good opportunity, no?. Cheesy
Meanwhile, I have 4000 sMerits waiting for worthy posts.

As soon as I saw the contest, I immediately signed up for it. I don't care about the prizes and merits; I just want to spend quality time with my wife. We'll have fun baking and decorating a pizza in the Bitcoin style, and then hopefully we'll enjoy it deliciously (I hope). Participation and the process are what matter most; the prize is secondary. Good luck to everyone, by the way!

As I see three individuals are sponsoring the contest, does that mean that icopress on behalf of BC.GAME, Theymos and BitcoinGirl are the judge for this contest. I have checked the topic description and found nothing in the rules. That is why I have come to this conclusion. If that is the case then it is great and this time it will be fair for everyone.
Sponsors are contributing the money that will be shared to the winners, and in order to decide the winners, the community is going to vote on that. I don't know why you think it will be fair if only 3 users were to vote on this, because it surely would not be fair. I believe you missed this part of the op:

That means a newbie can also vote but, would not be nice if only legendary rank holders are allowed to vote especially who have good reputation. What I meant is that a community that has a lot of presence will be able to easily win if everyone is allowed to vote. A high rank trusted member voting will only make it fair.

If the community voting is so important than those like us will never win as our community is saturated.

After the designated date, a voting thread will be created where, through joint efforts, we will determine 5 winners (the voting system will be identical to that used in the BCA).

So let me clarify as to who is going to judge the contest. i said theymos like example, because theymos is admin and he do this stuff, partecipate and donate
only for this reason
because if I name someone else then they might be offended and a drama worthy of this note would arise
no thanks I don't want drama
I totally get it, and i also know you mentioned Theymos in your initial post as an example. However, my point is still the same thing, whoever wins, wins, and there is no need for anonymous voting. If they have enough 'friends' in the forum or people who will vote for them because they made a nice pizza and for other reasons, then that is fine, as long as they are not promising money or merits in return for votes.

I can't boil an egg but when my wife heard she could get 1000$ by baking a pizza, her eyes tripled in size.

Not sure she'll get anything as the competition is fierce, but at least I'll be getting a pizza Grin

Well, I hadn't thought about that perspective.
My wife will certainly also think it's an excellent idea to win $200... She doesn't have to know that the maximum prize is $1000.  Cool

Well, I'll see if I can buy the ingredients and ask for her help. Maybe I'll participate this time.

I think it would be better if our wives knew how much could actually be won so they would be motivated & more creative to make pizza. Besides the potential winnings, also explain that there is also the possibility of losing. Because our wives only know about winning. (Maybe only my wife) lol. I just leave it here: A happy wife, a happy life.

While i don't think Theymos would participate, but if he does, and he gets the most votes, then he will be one of the winners, there is no need to complicate things.

And knowing him, he might just donate the prize money to a trustworthy charity organization. He might also use it to help the forum. $2500 in @theymos hands isn't exactly a bad outcome if he were to win.

What if he likes pizza lol?

You made a very good point @Z-Tight, about overcomplicating things, ya know?

Have they ever been anonymous in the past?

Too much work to make bitcointalk pizza contest submissions anonymous!  Grin

this year we really fought to have an honest pizza contest, with clear rules and so that everyone has the same chance

but something is still missing

Good point.

I'm trying to find a counterargument and honestly...😂 Idk.

I think this is mostly about having fun anyway than winning the prize money.

Great to see this year edition of the bitcoin pizza day is happening directly on the forum, perhaps it will achieve more users this way, congratulations! Really looking forward to see what the community is able to cook for this year edition.

I think that is should be quite easy to understand what can considered as pizza and what is simply not acceptable. Last year we saw some entries that were not pizza, some them were not even cooked. As long as you have a cooked dough you should be fine.
We are all adults, if you go to a restaurant and ask for a pizza I'm pretty sure you don't expect to receive a cold plate with some random ingredients, don't you?
In different countries, on plates you will see completely different pastries disguised as pizza (to the horror of the Italians). Smiley Therefore, specifically stated conditions are the key to the transparency of the competition.
This also happened a lot in both edition of the Pie baking contest that I organized. I reckon that one dessert, in this case, may have different meanings in certain parts of the world, but even though users were warned in the second edition of what kind of pies we were looking for, some still submitted their own interpretation of it (which didn't got into the final voting phase).

In this particular case the rules are straightforward. If users are still unsure what kind of entry is being considered, what better way to get their doubts clarified than looking at the original pictures[1] that inspired the contest?  Wink

Hello,

I can't choose between a classic pizza or a calzone, is it possible to make 2 pizzas for the contest ?

Thank you
