doesnt like bitcoin, there are many altcoins on the market, so they have many advantages for many purpoes, because of bitcoin price is so high, they can not use it for transactions, so they use other altcoins instead. so i think altcoins is very useful for us now and for the future.

Good question, although Bitcoin -  the most anticipated and more highly demanding digital asset today but Altcoins has biggest role for Bitcoin's success. But not is the only case because Altcoins surely has good future with hundreds of reasons like Ethereum and other Bitcoin forks. Some of them are trying to place their butts on seats as the next Bitcoin. There are too many Altcoins today but there success and future are relying on the the core team's development, support and marketing.

I think in short term every thing is possible as we experienced high increase in prices of most of major altcoins such as Ethereum. But in long term everything depends on what will happen to Bitcoin.
In my opinion in future we will have only one acceptable cryptocurrency. If Bitcoin can solve its problems like high transaction fees that you mentioned, It will be that cryptocurrency. If not we should wait for another cryptocurrecncy that will replace Bitcoin.
We should also consider another important issue which is governments decisions. In future after accepting bitcoins by entire world, Governments would like to have more control on the system. We should wait for their decision whether they want bitcoin to be that major cryptocurrency or not.

thanks for the great answer. I think esactly the same.

One acceptable cryptocurrency is the future. And government pressure into that coin is the thing to discuss in the future.

But if governments try to control that system, alternative coins will survive in order to eliminate the pressure..

Clearly, you do not realize we have bitcoin because we do not want the governement to tell us what we can or cannot do. Unless they stop all internet, they cannot stop us. If needed we can expand zcash/zerocoin and ignore their dictate.

Maybe if our government change our economic status it possible we have better future in bitcoin and as well the alternative coins like eth, bitcoin cash litecoin etc. better acceptance to the change the digital era of crytocurrency in the world.Unless we support them to become one accept cryptocurrency.

yes they have many people actually preferred to stored their money to altcoin  rather than bitcoins ,some altcoin was really have exceptional features than bitcoins like faster confirmation speed , low fees and etc , many people preferred altcoin for low payment transaction since fee was not high compared to bitcoin. Personally I think ethereum has an edge to become just as valuable as bitcoin so I really save some ETC today.

I believe Bitcoin has a future in long term. It proved itself in the past years and it is getting widely popular. It just has a transaction fee problem atm.

What about the altcoins? Who does use them for real? Will people use them in the future for real purpose?

I only have a hope for ethereum and litecoin, but not for the rest. I am not even sure for eth and ltc.

If bitcoin solves the reansaction fee and time problem, I doubt eth and ltc even have a future.

Definitely bitcoin has a future in long run. if we look up for the market of bitcoin at present compared to last few years we'll see the huge progress. but talking about the altcoins , i think it just depend upon the time and situations that how bitcoin changes with time. these atlcoins totally depend upon the bitcoin market. the effect on bitcoin could tell whether these altcoins will have future in long run or not.

Yes it is true altcoins capture the crypto currencies market and it is globally popular currency. Its role is more than fiat money and many big investors are invested in these currencies. For me it is important to say that altcoins has a good future. Now a days most of the people are connected to this and the new altcoins are cheap in price so they purchase that and the n at the right time they sold these investment for the sake of good income source.

Only few altcoins seems to deliver unique features and have a bright future. For example, monero and zcash provided full anonymity while bitcoin is pseudo anonymous. When transaction problem arose in bitcoin network, many people thought that some altcoins like litecoin may succeed bitcoin since it provides very fast transactions at very low cost. But thanks to segwit activation, that problem has been almost solved.

Ethereum seems to have good future and we could see its price and trade volume also steadily increasing. In future, only those altcoins would survive which could give useful features to the people.

Maybe yes. It depends on us. If we keep trading them and if we keep holding them they have future. If we dont they will be shit coins sooner or later.
Of course altcoins have a future, more users and especially traders are believe in the capacity of altcoins. Basically more people are starting to collect altcoins because they were know that in the future, crypto currency are replace the paper money.
But it is only the few altcoins in cryptocurrency world will succeed and can use to apply our life in future. Even, Bitcoin still has not chance to against paper money, so how do altcoins can do that?
yes, only some types of altcoin alone have a future value, because not all types of altcoin are able to move quickly. but sometimes there is always a new type of altcoin that can beat the value of other altcoin and can have a future, altcoin type is able to attract the attention of investors to go into it and can make its value to be expensive in the market.

Altcoins can continue if there's a market - which means either it needs to be a good investment as a currency or it needs to be functional (like Golem etc). At this point, I don't think it's worth minting new coins as actual currencies, so long term I'd look for cryptos that use blockchain functionality.

Altcoins do have a future as long as people make ICOs. The question is what future do they have. But it's quite obvious that there will be no bright future for them compared to bitcoin.

I think bitcoin have large value ,but altcoins also have it value,in the future ,more particular altcoin will appear and stay, coins will be a large family, not one coin.
I think it depend on the decision of the public. If people will support altcoins then it will have a good future but if people will not support bitcoin and they will not have any demand for a particular coin then that particular coin will lose its value in the market.
Not all the coins are currencies, for example casino tokens are very similar to stocks, you get dividends depending on the amount of tokens you hold, and I’m sure there are going to be many more of those projects in the future, so if an altcoin is just another currency then it is going to have problems to survive in the future but if it can do something that is useful and it is in demand then that altcoin can survive for a long time.

Yes i think they will have a future.

There is a lot of nice tech and a lot more coming.
it is true that many new technologies and bright ideas are emerging. altcoin will continue to grow and will not run out or die.  new projects will continue to emerge.
It is indeed true, but most of the altcoins now are just basically useless at the moment. I mean there are so many new coins that are still emerging but they just always lack something that is why most of them are unsuccessful. I know they are just helping the cryptocurrencies to grow but that's not enough. We need more than that, if we are really planning to make a new coin then just make sure that it will go smoothly as planned, we don't want investors to waste their money just making this. It will affect more future coins, what I mean is, by continuously having this kind of problem, many investors will not trust new coins but instead they will just going to invest in a more familiar coin that has lots of reputation in their stashes.

altcoins will still be sought and collected people especially ethereum, maybe people are not much who trade it directly but will change altcoins so bitcoin so altcoins and bitcoin will still have a good future

Altcoins future depends on bitcoin.
If bitcoin exist altcoin will also be exist.
Not all of the altcoin will nake it.
But few of them will exist definitely.
But the price is always depends on bitcoin
What we are seeing now at the moment.

Well, there's things that only altcoins can do: smart contracts, for example. Bitcoin could implement that, but it would be a rip-off... And that's not bitcoin's spirit. Furthermore, we need separate blockchains because, what will happen if Bitcoin's blockchain goes wrong ? Like, maybe quantum computers will be able to crack private keys from public ones. Have you thought about that?

It's like the old saying "don't put all your eggs in one basket". If Bitcoin survives and strives, then LTC will, too. Just for the sake of having alternatives.

Furthermore, I  don't think it will be technically possible to put every single transaction on the same blockchain. You must then include every micro-transaction from mobile games, every coffee paid with a credit-card, everything, really. The blockchain would just be flooded in such a way that it would certainly crash the system. It's like a DDOS attack.

So, in order to prevent that, altcoin must have a future. It's not a choice, it's not rocket science either: it's just pure logic, and prevention. Smiley
