All I know is that I know nothing.
Bitcoin continues to establish as a,strongest and the most valuable cryptocurrency. This hasn't come over knight and can't be replaced over knight but at the moment I also can't see that some other cryptocurrency has the potential to go through that way and take Bitcoin's position.
I wouldn't say it's impossibe but it will not happen for a long time.

Altcoins are growing stronger and stronger than before, however, only really powerful altocoins are able to compete with bitcoin, as most altcoins are copied from bitcoin, but are used with a different name. . Only a few altcoins are fully developed. And those altcoins are really powerful, they have absolutely a chance to compete fairly with bitcoin. But bitcoin is really too powerful, it has taken over all other altcoins from the moment it is formed.

define strong.
what you see is some trouble in bitcoin world that caused a lot of FUD and then as we all saw price was manipulated down to $880-$900 for a short term and panic spread throughout the market.
now altcoins used this situation and started their propaganda against bitcoin while pumping their price. but as we can see now, bitcoin is back to $1200+ and all those altcoins are declining day by day.

Chances to passes bitcoin is almost impossible to the alt coins the average rate is almost 100% for bitcoin and just 30% for the alt coin so almost impossible for the altcoins to surpass the bitcoin growth every year bitcoin price are just increasing rapidly and bitcoin user are increasing also but altcoins do have a average price also but not as good as bitcoin.
nothing impossible actually , but we have to admit that there is very little chance to make it happen. since bitcoin are the first established and the biggest cryptocurrency community around the world , it is feel like there must be a miracle to replace bitcoin .

i mean when there is something big happened to certain altcoin like when big company like google agree to start adopt certain altcoin or something like that.

I doubt that any of the currently existing altcoins have a really big chance to become more known and precious than bitcoin, maybe except Monero. This cryptocurrency is a really great tool for online payments, you can always stay safe, so if someone really needs that, then Monero is a best choice.

On the other hand, we need to see a growth of cryptocurrency community, and new people are probably not looking for anonymousness, but instead for speed of lightning, and very low fee costs.

I dont know any currency that could become better for that purpose than bitcoin for now

Nah. I think no one can surpass bitcoin but it is possible if one of the altcoin have a wallet that can exchange into real money I think yes what I mean is if their wallet for that alt coin can exchange or transfer that coin into bank I think maybe, Because that is what bitcoin have that other didn't have the automatic exchange into fiat and transfer instant into the bank.
What you want is already available in many countries, they are called online wallets.
These type of wallets allow you link a bank account to the wallet so you can make deposits and withdrawals for buying and selling bitcoins, need cash then simply cash out what you need and it will be available in your bank account within a few days, the delay is on the banking side of the deal not bitcoin releated.
I never hold any coins in an online wallet and nor should anyone but i do use an online wallet (Coinjar) if I need cash. Rather than cashing out to a bank account and having to wait  i have a bitcoin debit card linked to the account so I can withdraw my bitcoins as local fiat cash anytime instantly from any ATM.

This is all bitcoin based but you can just use shapeshift.io to swap the altcoin first or some online wallets may even have this integrated by now.

Bitcoin can be used for payments. There a service providers such as bitpay.
That is the big strength of bitcoin.
I do not know of a payment provider that would accept an altcoin.
And as long as that does not change, I do not see an altcoin overcome bitcoin.

big businesses are now moving their funds towards alts and taking advantage with their least fees as well as shaping a completely new economy in the trends of altcoin markets.
No way to prove that big businesses are moving towards other alts these days but few alts have been good choice for many new projects to create their tokens and sell them with ICO. However many of this ICO are scams.

Alts are good if you like to make nice profit with day trading but bitcoin is still gold in crypto.  Wink
Yes i would like to know what big companies the OP is talking about and what proof he has that they are moving into alt coins.

I know a lot more are diversifying into some of the alt currencies now but i don't know if any have publicly stated that they now move all funds using an altcoin due to bitcoins fees.

I think to the possibility exists because of the problems that occur in bitcoin, especially transaction confirmations and transaction costs that lead to doubts on bitcoin but bitcoin is still the first On lined of cryptocurrency.

Right now, I don't think they have any chance against bitcoin. Maybe in the future a really good altcoin will be developed and that might overtake bitcoin.

Well to be honest it does not seem so unless and until Etheruem is being bought by China, like they do Bitcoin then only this altocoin has chance . Rest none of the coin it seems for now .

for now there is no altcoin could rival bitcoin. bitcoin is still too strong. some have projected altcoin ever surpass bitcoin prices finally fall. they only last some time. while bitcoin survive with very high until recently.
not today, maybe a few years to come there is a altcoin which has a more powerful technology that will compete with bitcoin, then it depends on users to migrate or stay afloat

many of these altcoins needs more time, much more improvement in order to rival  and compete with bitcoin. and i believe that most of the crypto community only spend time to altcoins in order to gain more bitcoins. so in short, they are just some other tools or options for a certain person to have more bitcoin.

regards.

Bitcoin prices are very high, it is impossible for altcoin to compete with bitcoin, indeed there is altcoin that exceeds the bitcoin price but that just for a moment does not last long time

I think altcoins have a long way to go to catch up with Bitcoin, even Etherium and Dash. Something major would need to happen to Bitcoin to make people move money into another cryptocurrency.

I would say that there is a chance. Look at altcoins such as Ethereum and Dash. The number of users are increasing, and also several online shops accepting these coins are getting established.

I don't know how did that increase the chance of altcoins beating bitcoins. I haven't seen an online shop or a gambling site that's accepting Ether and Dash but not bitcoins. All gambling sites that accept altcoins also accepts bitcoin but not all gambling sites that accept bitcoins also accept altcoins.

As the number of Ether and Dash users increases, the number of bitcoin also increases. Since both Ether and Dash aren't the best cryptocurrency, people that have learned about altcoins first will study about bitcoins in no time.
That's the big thing with the people who come out and say that Eth and Dash are going to be the coins that takeover the world, I think that it's rather simple and no altcoin will have the potential to ever even come close to being bitcoin at all. They may flaunt all this new tech and such but does it really matter if no one is going to be using the coin anyway? You have to have people using this for actual transcations for it to really matter in the end.

I think people from altcoin circles only say that the coins will takeover as a way to pump them, and sometimes with the right amount of groundwork they should be able to do well in getting more people to sign on. Then they just leave the coin when they've made the right amount of money and the only losers are the suckers who believe the lies.
