The numbers don't lie. You only have to look in terms of market cap and transaction volumes. Alts are definitely catching up to Bitcoin, and in many cases are far nicer to use.

I have been seeing Bitcoins' price rising with a stability in its growth, but due to the higher mining fee that is being levied on transactions these days, big businesses are now moving their funds towards alts and taking advantage with their least fees as well as shaping a completely new economy in the trends of altcoin markets. Do you think this may harm Bitcoin's dignity and open up a chance in real for alts to rise?

I think that bitcoin can be harm only by coin who offer more than it. In other words are better than him. The specialist talk that ethereum is one of those. And the fact is that ethereum is gaining more and more visibility and usage. I think that only such kind of coins can put in risk the credibility and usage of bitcoin. Not the other cases.

Cryptocurrency has a lot of options. You can choose where to invest but it depends on what platforn you want. Bitcoint cant be replaced as it is the father of all cryptos. And also alternate coins have good platforms like bitcoin when it is still on its early stage, so lets give a try to alternate coins like we have do to bitcoin.

We will see a clear winner. It won't be for several years though. I'm still putting all my chips on litecoin.

Bitcoin has name recognition and use in media today which helps it a lot to the general public to know about it when they may not know about the alts which have different features.  Bitcoin is probably the easiest to just jump into so it will stay strong for a while.

Usage wise, other coins has a lot more potential due to their unique features and ease of use for most people however, being unique doesn't mean that it would sell out all of the time. Bitcoin still has an edge when it comes to investor markets simply because more people are utilizing and throwing money at it each and every day.

Yes, I see plenty of alts that have a chance to survive along side of Bitcoin due to their unique features. However, I don’t see any of them ever overtaking Bitcoin or even becoming large enough to become major competition to Bitcoin.
yes no doubt that they have chance to overcome bitcoin. but i think in present time i cannot see a single coin which can compete with bitcoin, as bitcoin is still the number one crypto currency and hope that it will remain as number one in future also. as the popularity of bitcoin is still increasing continuously and hope that this trend will even continue in future also.

The network effect is a hugely important factor when trying to compare Bitcoin to any of it's "alternatives."

Bitcoin was the first horse out the gates. I mean, if we're talking about adoption levels then we should acknowledge how widely used Bitcoin is when compared to it's alternatives... the numbers don't compare, Bitcoin is clearly way ahead on that front.

In terms of big businesses picking and choosing specific altcoins as opposed to Bitcoin, we should acknowledge the fact that Bitcoin has the largest user base among all digital assets.

So perhaps the whole idea of a Bitcoin alternative should be re-evaluated.

More attention should be lent to building assets that can be used in tandem with Bitcoin, rather than as "alternatives," since there aren't many alts that have managed to displace bitcoin in any meaningful way.

I think bitcoin is the king and will keep being it. It has the status of a mythos, that`s hard to get for an alt.
But in usability there will come sth like IOTA.
Or other coins that are more specialiced for sth. to use for than bitcoin.
BTC will be more for hoarding.

It took Bitcoin nearly 9 years for it to get to this point with the help of global economic meltdown FUD. It only took Ethereum about 2 and a half years (of real developmemt) for its valuation.

I can see alts taking a dominating position in the next 3 to 5 years with Ethereum being the most likely choice.

Well we know that ether is actually being used. It had 73941 transactions in the last 24 hours and the number is trending upwards:

https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/ethereum-transactions.html

If it ever tops the number of transactions done by bitcoin, then watch out!

You just have to look what is happening right now.
Bitcoin has so many problems with the scaling debate. Transaction fees are getting higher and higher, so the Bitcoin Community is mangling themselves.

Besides this, there are some really awesome Altcoin projects going on. They can easily figure out, which problems Bitcoin has and adopt and find a better solution for this. Bitcoin will not change, because the extremely splitted community. Its too hard for them to implement new things.

Just look at the charts:

The money in the future is made in Altcoins.

Bitcoin and alts are nothing like gold and silver.

Bitcoin can easy change a bit of code and copy everything an alt has.
There is nothing an alt could do and bitcoin wouldn't be able to match.

And in the end there will be only one that counts. Just like now.
If you want to play around and speculate on pump and dumps play with altcoins but there will be never anything more than that coming from them.

If we talk about present and not so distant future. There is no cryptocurrency which has chances against bitcoin. Bitcoin has the first mover advantage. Therefore it will keep its first position safe for some time. But I shy away from absolutes. There is a complete chance of an altcoin surpassing bitcoin surely not in coming future but yeah someday.

I think bitcoin will always be the number one cryptocurrency but there is certainly a chance for one or more alts to rise significantly as bitcoin becomes more mainstream.

Even if they transfer there investment in other altcoins it won't really matter because at the end they will convert it back to Bitcoin. Because  from what I am seeing Bitcoin is still the only currency that you be able to transact not only online but in the real world. As a currency Bitcoin is the only who really has touch the majority of the population in terms of usage and I am not seeing any Altcoin doing that. Also I can't really see 2 cryptocurrencies battling in the market for its dominancy as there is only one crypto to be accepted by the majority and it is Bitcoin.

We can't really based that the current success of some altcoins today might have chances to go against bitcoin. My concern here is not the technical aspect of bitcoin but it's price. I doubt most of the traders cares for the slower confirmation times, maybe some but not much. That is fine to them as long as they are making money. And with bitcoin, the profit is really at high stake.

Im not seeing any altcoin today that cares for it's unique feature that bitcoin doesn't have. All of them just focus on it's price that's why I considered them altcoins as other money making scheme. With the trust that bitcoin established thrroughout the season, it will take time to get it down or maybe I will assume it's impossible to happen. Once bitcoin failed, people will now have no trust in using cryptocurrency.
I also do not based an recent or current status of a coin from its further success. Because change is inevitable meaning to say that change and development will be made on both bitcoin and some altcoin that has big future. But for me altcoin is not made to duel or to beat bitcoin at the first place. Altcoin is just a temporary or choice on transaction to trim down the demand and to established mutual relationship which has balance preposition that gives and take. And if we will look also on the price no doubt that bitcoin had a better price rate and moderation.

I don't see any altcoin that could be bitcoin competitor as long as we talking about cryptocurrency as currency, not investment or trading goods.
But, few altcoin have great potential in new innovation, big community/supporters and stability such as Ethereum and Monero.

Even Ethereum that is on the number 2 spot in the coinmarketcap.com will have no match against bitcoin. It may be attractive because of it's smart contracts and other alt coins are inspired through it but I will still say that bitcoin will always be the best coin and there is no alt that have any chance to replace or surpass bitcoins success.

Since they have a good tech, and solve real-world problems, any alt has a chance, but chances are very low.
Even the coins with something innovative will have a lot of work to achieve the network effect and quality of development that Bitcoin has.

Maybe it's true, when altcoin wanted to shift the popularity of bitcoin. Because the bitcoin is a digital currency that's already very solid standing in the virtual world, and it would be pretty hard to altcoin who want to beat him. Unless they are able to break down a solid wall that exists in the bitcoin, if it can be done then I'm sure the popularity of bitcoin will be crushed. Well the main problem is knowing all the existing wall in the bitcoin
