I immediately cut some stuff and gamble are one of the first I stop, like going out and trips too
So, what's your opinion?
In that case a loser will have to stop gambling definently. There is no other choice when you don't have enough money on your hand. Everyone have their family and they have to manage it somehow, so gamble isn't something mandatory for life. But who are gainer and still gaining I don't think they will stop gamble on current situation. If incase more collapsed global economy somehow them a big percentage gamblers will have to stop gambling like you already stopped.

You should have of course because it will lead to something that in losing more, come to think of it you are in a grip of crisis and you will gamble you will think of gambling to escape that crisis and if you lose you will do anything to recover your losses until you found out that you have nothing anymore.

We should consider gambling as an entertainment and we should limit our allotted money to gambling and always think that it will always not going to be a source of income it's a matter of win or lose.

When there's a crisis, it's a normal response for everyone to stop things they do that is not needed or essential to limit the expenses. We stop gambling when there's a crisis because we tend to realize that the money we will be using for gambling, we can use it to buy the things we need to survive the crisis. We become more responsible on what should be our priority.

When there's an economic crisis or even health crisis, what we will be needing the most is our basic needs life food. So instead of using our money for gambling, we will just use that money for our needs. Everyone will do the same in order to survive. Does someone would even risk their money in gambling when they will be needing it the most?

I was thinking of a crisis where there is something related to dying. That's the first thought that came into my mind. When that happens,  I don't think there would be any other thing on your mind rather than that situation only. Maybe if that crisis stems from that "gambling" habit that you have, then it would continue, right?

We are experiencing a big crisis now with the corona virus, and I think its not secure anymore to go to the casinos and luckily we have a good alternative to have fun and to keep playing which is the online gambling. If the big crisis hits the economy of my country and the inflation rate goes higher, then I really have no choice but to remain at home, spend less and spend more time with my family. You have the choice to stop or not, but if its for your health and security better to stay at home.

I think this is true for those gamblers who are regular customers of offline casinos. But for those who are into online gambling, I don't think they will stop. And on my end, since I am a small timer gambler and just using extra money, I think will still play every once in a while. But will make sure that it will not affect my financial expenditures as with this kind of crisis comes with higher price of necessities and other things.

If I were some gamblers, I would definitely stop, especially today where people are in need of money and for some other country, you cannot go out to look for money anymore because of some certain circumstances and we all know what does circumstances are, I'm talking of the virus. If you live in some country that has already some people infected with this virus, you better save a lot of money and to gamble that money or you might lose it and find yourself in some worst situation because some other countries already close some services which make other people jobless. This is no joke what we are experiencing right now. The world is facing pandemic disease and we need to be prepared and watch some doomsday prepare documentary to know what exactly we need to do when those calamities strike in our home place.

i feel that its not appropriate to gamble and enjoy while most of our fellow country men are suffering  but what can we do ? even on our selves we cant also do to help them especially if you are poor too  .  instead of feeling down and sad , why cant we still continue our lives   . feeling happy and positive can feel you great in times if crisis   .

Guys, in moments such this we are living, with a crisis just ahead of all of us, do you stop gambling?

In my case I have to admit that I will stop for a while.
When I see some crisis or a decrease of my salary (I have my own business), I immediately cut some stuff and gamble are one of the first I stop, like going out and trips too

So, what's your opinion?

Of course, yes. We cannot still play gambling when a crisis happens because we want to make sure our family are in safe. At that time, we will go back to our family and give them safety. The family is the most important thing that we should concern. The human nature to protect their family will appear, and they will make sure that everything is okay to their family so they can think about the other thing.

We don't want to see our family cannot survive in the crisis, so we will use every possibility to protect them. I think the gambling site will not operate too because their employee will do the same thing as us.

I should say personally. Things depend in case to case basis. I'll stop when things really gone bad. Example: Corona virus aka COVID-19 are in depth of borderline lockdown right now in our country Philippines. In NCR it's spreading continuesly and doubling the confirmed cases in just a day. When it gotten really like this beyond, having a good time playing in gambling is not the case and should be focusing for the safety of our family.

In this case. Playing gambling online in at home is the best case scenario to lessen the chance of being infected. Having fun around in any casino out there might be the cause of having the virus in your body and the worst case of it is bringing it home and infecting as well some of your loved ones.

I may cut my gambling activity but not totally cut my gambling, crisis come and go and unless your crisis is not like losing your job then you can still go on as long as you have money to spare, maybe from 4 times a week depends on the severity of the crisis you can cut it to once a week and who knows you may get lucky to save you from that crisis.

So, what's your opinion?

Everyone stops gambling, traveling and many other activities which takes a lot of money to nowhere in crisis time. Isn't it obvious?

People who do not stop doing that can't answer to you, because Darwin's law wipe them away  Wink

I'm sorry but I have to disagree  Cheesy
Not Everyone, some people are beyond the curve and even in a period of crisis they are not affected

We don't have to enter on a deep talk here but there's people who enjoy this time of crisis buying cheap stuff, cheap investments or investing in weak currencies
So this kind of people are not affected, but I created this thread to see the opinion of the regular people of the forum, maybe there's some people who are not affected too, if the person gains a lot of money gambling, or if they already spare some money to gamble for months...

No, I don't. Even if we were about to enter a global economic crisis, i would still gamble as usual since i'll be using money (my bankroll) which I prepapred months ago exclusively for my gambling activities (:

But, I may be forced to stop gambling because it's starting to look like the european football leagues could be suspended as the coronavirus keeps spreading in Spain, Germany, France, etc. It's only a matter of time, tbh  Cry

If this happens to me, I don't want to increase more the risks of losing money so definitely I will minimize my gambling activity. And overall, that should be the common and basic approach of a person that still knows what the best thing to do in a situation like that.

But in general, people have different situations or statuses of how worst their financial crisis is. Those people really need a miracle and will think of a way that can earn money within a short time. Even these people know that gambling is risky, they will still consider taking it because they have no other choice. That problem is really not a thing that can just be handled easily.

So, what's your opinion?

That is the right thing to do. You should cut expenses on not important things so you can recover from the crisis. Otherwise, you will end up exhausting all your funds that can lead to debts. And trust me, you do not want to be in debt.

That is what I do also but If my money still allows it, I only reduce the amount spent on gambling. There is still a chance I can win so I do not totally stop gambling.

Its just a normal thing or reaction for a human being to do when you are already experiencing some crisis or shortage when it comes to financial aspect.Of course i would definitely cut out expense and gambling would be the main to be crossed out knowing that this activity does really consume much more compared to others.Honestly its better to stop it on early stage and wont wait for a crisis yet its better for those amounts to be saved for your future living or needs. If you do have the money then it isnt bad to spend  a little bit for gambling but dont go overboard yet things can be wrecked up in shortest time as possible if you do let your addiction controls you.
Stop while you can and this doesnt only applied on gambling but also into your habit on buying up things which isnt really that needed or simply talks about "WANTS".

There is always a saying like, "Gamble what you can afford to lose". Gambling is considered as a form of game/entertainment which will help us in relaxing our minds from work. We play games like Football, Chess and Cricket during leisure times to boost our energy and get back to work actively. Similarly gambling should be considered as a form of entertainment and this is how the gambling industry should work. Rather most of the gamblers think in the quite opposite way and lose most of their hard earned money in gambling.

Addictive gamblers like the one who will never care about the global crisis gamble even if they suffer severe losses and only have a little more than a few pennies to gamble and lose. I always consider gambling as a form of entertainment and I would gamble only the amount which I can afford to lose. So from my point of view, when there is a global crisis and if my business/work on the verge of being collapsed, I would stay away from investments and other sorts of entertainment stuffs which demands my money. But from an addictive gambler perspective, I don't think they would stop even during adverse conditions and would continue unless they have lost all their money through gambling.
