It all depends on which altcoins you choose . If these are as good altcoins as Etherium then you should not worry
there are altcoins that have failed already but there are also new coins that created. this cycle will continue for many years. only the strong will survive in this kind of environment.
I think that in the next five years there will be strong changes in the market. A lot of altcoins continue to appear, but only a few of them show the possibility of further use, so most altcoins will disappear from the market and only the best ones will remain.
Someday the market will run out of resources and its development will stop and in principle it will look like the stock market. But I think that by that time the cryptocurrency will surpass the currency many times.

Never wait for holding until five years for your altcoin, many altcoin was die only one or two years and many altcoin have deleted from exchange market. you have be smart for taken profit on your altcoin, you have check how your altcoin price every time, when reached of your profit target you have sale and never waiting again until five years, maybe for holding about five years your altcoin price was low or scam project.
I do believe that alternative crypto currencies will be able to survive fir the next five years. This is because since the alternative cryptocurrencies have started they have gained a tremendous amount of popularity among the people all over the world because of which their potential users who are ready to invest money in alternative cryptocurrencies have also increased through out the world
I think Altcoin will last beyond five years. There are important service been developed by various Altcoin that is needed by people and required by technology that make our lives easy. Cryptocurrency and Altcoin in particular will play a very vital role in internet of things.

don't worry, 5 years is not such a long period for crypto
you have to choose from the top 5-10 altcoins, such altcoins have a prospect for 10 years ahead
alt coins should not be hold for 5 year long, there are lots of projects that can be a good one so the value of that coin may be negative someday and that 5 year frame is too long for a coin to be hold.
I think that for such a long time only the best altcoins will be suitable ...many are short-term

I still have this market still worth investing in. Although it has been in the trough for a long time, I believe it will rise again, so patiently hold your coins and wait for the market to pick up so you can get a good return.

If your altcoin came from airdrops or any shitty campaign then id suggest you if the project is not that active then dump it because it wont survive. However if your holding major altcoin like in top 20 then continue to hold for it because it will last until the end.
because by looking at current developments are able to generate profits and make many supporters join against Altcoin for future progress.

my opinion for the next 5 years there will be many missing coins and there will also be many new coins that have sprung up. now almost every day there is always a new coin that appears. imagine for the next 5 years there will certainly be a lot of coins. and not all the coins will survive, some will die.
None of us will know that,unless satoshi will comeback ! and clarify things that the system is lacking or if these altcoins are worth to invest with.Bitcoin was created to be the future currency while these altcoins doesnt have any good reason to be used by us people.
