Cock fighting is very common here in our country. Wherever I go, I always see cock fighting but I never tried to gamble in it.

Most of the fathers here in our country who are involved in cock fighting love their cock more than their real son. It is ridiculous but it is true for some Cheesy. The arenas where cock fighting is happening in our country have legal papers already so its legal here in our country but I think there are some who are running illegal.

In our country, cockfighting is still openly practiced though it has been banned across the world. In fact, there are TV stations that televise such sport. Stadiums are built for such that can attract lots of audience. Our country's goverenment helps build those stadiums and has tax people attend matches to ensure that those precious tax dollars are collected from the bets placed on the fights. With that, I must say that cockfighting won't leave our country anytime soon. This age-old tradition seems to be beneficial to the people and the government—entertainment for the former, and money from taxes for the latter.
Cockfighting is also legal in my country but i have not heard that tax is being placed in every bet.I have not experienced cockfighting but i was raised with a cockfighter.I grew up with a lot of cocks around in our yard.Maybe tax is already imposed on every game because this is what the government is really after.
Those arena that have legal documents is under the tax law for sure, they are imposed by taxes each games that has been played every ruling is implemented from individual games that will be catered inside the arena, cockfighting legalities accompanied by rules where government of such countries have the cut from each fight that has been done, it will helps the government in some terms from the collected taxes.

The amount of money that we are talking here is really huge for the tax people to be present in every event just to ensure tax are paid.
Damn, tax collectors are everywhere, we cannot enjoy the full amount of winnings we have in gambling.
In my place, it's already popular but I have not seen that kind of scenario where tax agent or people has to be present everytime.

Alright here we go with those hypocritical animal lovers!

Cockfighting is a traditional activity to a certain country. This has been happening for decades. I mean humans have found a better purpose for Roosters. After they died in a fight, they will be served in the table anyway. They arent even endangered, they have been reproduced, most specially those fearless and bold kinds.
We have our own different justification of when we call out for animal cruelty.

Just go through my post and get the facts straight. I am not an animal lover, but I am against animal cruelty.

I have seen these cock fights in real life. There is blood and flesh everywhere and normal human beings would find it extremely disturbing. Off course these birds are not endangered. But is it justifiable to attach sharp blades to their feet and let them cut each other's flesh with that?

I don't want to ban these events. I know that it is a part of the culture. All I am saying is that I can't support these events.

Well, we have our own differences when we're talking about "animal cruelty". These roosters are born to fight each other, which is different from the other animals. You will rarely find a rooster who will not fight when he sees another rooster. If you read my comment above, I said " humans have found a better purpose for the roosters.

And YES! It is justifiable! Only those who dont have the slightest idea about this culture who will say " its an act of animal cruelty". Did you know how these rooster owners have raised them? Roosters have vitamins, special food to enhance fighting, and trainings. After they died in the fight they will be served in the table anyway. So, Its just like youre raising a pig and on the latter you will slaughter it to serve it on the table. Do you consider it as animal cruelty??
My own definition of animal cruelty is, killing an animal without any purpose. Perfect example is killing cats and dogs.

I guess this is how people from México and Philippines do it but i don't really get the idea why they have to kill each other plus human puts a knife/blade on their feet? I have watched it on youtube but before i finish it watching i turn it off since it's a bloody fight that some of them have to fight to the death and people are cheering to their favorite rooster.

From what I've seen, they are almost always fighting without any blades during cockfightings around the world. Whether blades should be attached to their feet or not is questionable because, from my point of view, for example, a slow death is much worse than a fast one. I heard cocks are killed immediately after they lose, and cooked afterwards, but I'm not sure if that's always the case.

I would definitely oppose children watching such cruel fights, but as for the adults, I think they can watch whatever they want. If you ask me, I'd say cock fighting is as cruel towards animals as horse racing. I personally don't find such things to be entertaining, but I don't blame people who like them. I'm no vegan, and I realize that I do contribute in animals' suffering in a way, so I can't blame others who do the same only in their own way.

I have read a lot of threads the past few days but infortunately I was trying to look upon discussions that talk about cock fighting. Why? because this event is one of the old gambling activities way back and up to present. I do not know if it is known by other country but for sure in Mexico, Spain and Philippines cock fighting is widely spread. Sometimes it is legal but sometimes men operated it illegal.

Does you country know about this cock fight betting?

Hello jademaxsuy, i'm from México and i have seen these fights live. The place where this fight takes place is called 'Palenque' and there is no underdog on this fight, both of them have the same odds.

The rooster has a knife on his foot and the fight ends when one of them dies.

Killing an animal for food purposes can be justified. Because it is natural and we are not going against the nature. But how can you justify forcing animals to fight until their death, just for our entertainment? I am more or less neutral on this, because events such as bull-fighting are integral to some cultures. So it is not right to ban them. But at the same time, my personal opinion is against such sports.

What about circuses? Aren't animals tortured there for entertainment purposes only?

I'm against cruelty towards animals, but I bet those fighting roosters are much happier than the bear riding bicycle in the picture below.

No one is forcing those roosters to fight btw, it's in their nature. While in circuses animals are constantly tortured by tamers to perform those funny tricks crowd adores so much.
It is heart wrenching to see such pictures on the screen by the hands of the most civilized and wise specie proudly known as humans. We have laws and regulations that forbid this but I have not seen someone taking a strict action. Maybe this is what will happen to human if AI kept on advancing in the long run for over a century or so. A robot will know that he is a robot and would have the wisdom equal to a Monkey. Think about how one would feel to be played like this at the hands of AI once the intelligence reaches the point of singularity.

In the past in my country dog fight was popular but if you are caught doing it you go straight to prison and for a long time. The same applies for cock fighting too and any other animal related violence.

I may be wrong, but from my point of view it is a bit hypocritical when people eat meat, wear leather clothes, go to circuses where, it's a fact, tamers torture animals, with their kids, and at the same time oppose dog fighting, corrida, cock fighting and such. I think that person must be consistent in his/her actions. You either go vegan or stfu.

But even vegans are hypocrites, if you ask me. But that is entirely different topic.

..cock fighting betting is very popular and very chronic here in our country..actually my father is an avid fan of cock fighting and he always bets whenever there is a cock fight in our area..this form of gambling here in our country is legal, and many people patronizing this kind of gambling..surely you will win a lot and gain a big profit when the cock you bet wins the fight..
The game is popular in your country because it is accepted, it is a game that is highly loved by many and the few countries where its declared illegal, you will still find citizens that secretly play it. Well that is by the way. I think your father is a great gambler and a business mogul as well, and I hope you took that from him, not necessarily cockfighting type of gambling. There are many  better online type of gambling this days that fits us in this generation.
Even in my country, cockfighting is legal and very popular particularly to those who are high class and average people. They prefer cockfighting than gambling in real casinos. They also make good profits from it.But unlike in trading, the profits is much lower compared to trading cryptos.
