I find it odd that they are time after time avoiding my thorough question about the exactly similar design with Innosilicon hardware & software.

Usually when I ask this in the Telegram group chat, they just talk about different subject or post memes/emojis.

What makes you think you're so important that they should divulge trade secrets to a random stranger on a message board? Instead of everyone yelling scam why not just wait until March to see if the first batch of orders ship? The amount of time some of you are spending on this thread is nauseating.

Some of us have been around a long time, and have seen other people or have even been themselves victims of previous scams, some, I might add, that have been far better organised. So people like myself, HF and Philipma  and numerous others want to try and help others who may not have the experience to avoid any potential monetary loss on something that may be too good to be true.

There are probably many here who have fronted up coin to this or other potential hardware manufacturing newcomers, some of those people can afford to risk the $9000 or so that it cost for the MOQ, but I would hazard to guess there are a hell of a lot of people who can't afford to lose that amount or even more. So suggesting prudence and asking reasonable questions of the manufacturer are not out of order, nor are they delusions of grandeur.

So these people are suggesting caution, they are suggesting to wait and see, what they are not doing is thinking they are self important, or better than anyone else, they have seen too many bloodbaths on this forum and don't want to see another.

Here's a little extra info... I don't know how it helps or hurts... but as everyone is scrambling to find information on Halong Mining and whom/what is behind it...

...I have access to some forensic level domain-searching tools. Unfortunately, there isn't much new to look at or learn here... but... when doing a whois dig on halongmining.com, it comes up that the domain name is registered to "Contact Privacy Inc. Customer 0149798388" -- obviously they are using a domain privacy service from their registrar to mask the actual domain ownership.

But note the customer number in the name... some whois privacy companies are doing this now so that THEY and select others can known more easily which customer is behind a particular domain name. Well, the whois tools I have show that "Contact Privacy Inc. Customer 0149798388" also owns a second domain name:  dragonmintdistribution.com / it was registered a week ago on 1/31/2018. So far, nothing is hosted. Registered at a different domain name registrar.

Could also be that they took the pre-order cash to fund the entire first-run of the products. It was said early on that they received (or raised, or whatever) "$30 Million" in development funds, though no credible source for that information exists. You'd think with that level of money that it was obviously an investor or group, yet no-one has stepped up to claim that they have an investment interest in Halong just like no-one has stepped up to say that they own Halong.

All we can really do is wait. If mid-March comes around and nothing has been shipped or received then you'll see the level of angst around here start to multiply.... and I'm also guessing that as each day slips past from there, it devolves into a cacophony of angry screams. I think the statute of limitations to report a theft in some countries is 90-120 days.

It's all so gray and murky.

March 2018 shipping is supposedly, 22 days away..they did say units would ship in March 2018 I think I read...(can anyone confirm this?).no real pics/demo/etc to review.....you'd think they'd

be plugging the equip on coindesk or the press....no attempt to promote or move their product in a position for folk to save or talk about it ..before March 2018...zip...nothing....not gonna

state the obvious....but does not look good at this point in time...contrary to EVERY product launch from toothpicks to toasters I've ever heard of...flat out weird if they are legit..not so

weird if they are not Sad

The best case scenario I can see ...is they took the pre-order money and have been mining the hell out of these units the last few months......if so ....you will get your miner....if

so it is a scammy way to use pre-order money...but it would explain their actions upon shipments...again my best case I can see of these antics at this point in time...the whole

thing is confusing...

I've got my popcorn out, anxiously watching to see if anyone actually gets their miners. It wouldn't be the first time a miner manufacturer acted...well weird. If they are real, what a shakeup to the industry. I'll take 3 please. (You go first tho!) Seriously, though, you would think there would be some Youtube videos out there with a test model running. They'd definetly sell more that way, but maybe they already sold more then they're comfortable with. All we can do is watch and wait I guess.

This has been basically my opinion all along... but Halong basically came on here, and through their proxy Mr. Offord, and basically said they don't care to things that way nor do they feel the "need" to show anyone anything. It's an extremely cocky stance, and one that is counter-intuitive to every business fiber in my body. Demand is there for the product, so if its real, sadly even if they're a shitty company, they've made and will continue to make millions. It's a horrible way to go about things.

This thread has more plot twists than a M. Night Shyamalan movie! It certainly has a deceptively odd amount of both,
"real and not real". Oddball noobies popping out of the woodwork on both sides of this story, and the newest, most
merited source of information, is from a member who has a whole list of background info, that they have been gathering
quietly.........since they joined in 2013. Excellent first post by the way! The whole story of this company is shrouded in
shenanigans, yet people are buying into the "pre-orders" and THEN coming here to ask about legitimacy. And, we've
got the actual March deadline approaching quickly, so who can say what we'll see after intermission!? I'd really like
to see a legit, real piece of equipment, but I fear it will be unmasked as scam. No thanks to you meddling kids!

PLEASE NOTE:

There is sensorship in the DragonMint Telegram group chat.

I was kicked out.

BtcDrak and/or other admins kicks people out when you say something he doesn't want to be said.

What did you say that got you kicked? Mind sharing your telegram name to take a look (well, unless messages were deleted)?

Lol.

I'm not thinking that I'm a important person.
Just for the sake of people who have invested in this a lot of money, I would like things to be as transparent as with any other manufacturer company.
Obelisk tried to be transparent, doesn't seem to be working very well for them Smiley If people buy anyway, they don't have to disclose anything, what for? Unfortunately that's what the market is. Now we are close to March, we'll soon know.

In response to unicornflex: On the Bitmain website, Bitmain refers their customers to myrig.com for out of warranty repairs.

https://shop-repair.bitmain.com/user/workOrderGuide.

The myrig link on the Bitmain site goes directly to the same website in Denver, who is also selling the Dragonmint. I know many have had successful repair transactions with this entity, and deem them to be credible for repair work.  Like most, I do not know what Yoshi looks like, maybe those that have seen or met him in real life can verify that it is actually him in the new Halong video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53dOF_DIuDU

I don't see anything weird with a company like myrig selling/servicing two different brands. I'm still on wait and see mode for Halong, a very weird rollout for a company. At the same time, if it were just a scam, I think they would have ran away with the money already.

Hopefully other companies learn from this, but if you're able to sell $50 million worth of product due to a few vouches on Twitter and a video, they won't.

If it goes well, awesome, everyone will be happy. If it turns out like dozens of other new ASIC makers over the past few years, you'll have a new generation of jaded miners calling every new pre-order a scam.

They didn't learn anything from the BFL et al days so why would this shit show be any different.  These exact same comments were made about learning lessons from all the shitty business practices in 2012-14 and yet here we are here today!  Cheesy

For every new generation of "jaded miners" there will be a corresponding new generation of newbs and optimists.  Just like we have now (old jaded miners and all the newbs that think mining will make them rich!).  As long as coin price keeps trending up in the long term you will see more and more people wanting to mine.

Obviously this behavior is acceptable in this market or it wouldn't be successful time and time again.  I always found it mildly ironic in a community that values decentralization that they would allow companies to take advantage of them so badly.  The consumer has all the power if no one bought they would have to change but sadly greed gets the better of everyone and FOMO kicks in hard.  What if this one is real this time oh man I will miss out on the first batch...
