Hi
Is Devcoin still actively developed?

Short answer: NO

Long answer: There is lack of leadership and interest on moving the coin forward, so the "heads" of this project are basically letting it die. They should better step aside and let others take over!!

WTF ?

It sounds like all the stuff you took away from me is dying?

Why the F take it away if you just want to let it die?

I can redirect all the domains that I control (which I think is most of them) and point them at my own server if the people who insisted I point them at theirs are not doing their jobs...

Unthinkingbit and I built this coin originally, but somewhere along the line some other folks started insisting they wanted to do the websites have the DNS lookups pointed to their own servers, heck even may have bought a few of the domains, although I think I hold most of them.

Unthnkingbit and I have been chugging along all along, I don't think he has missed a cycle yet, he sends me an email saying build the data files, having provided the data in a github repo, I build and upload, then he tells other people to grab copies to make the redundant copies all over the place.

I originally set up the wiki but someone who it seems in retrospect must be just some asshole insisted he could do better and here we are today with people complaining tghe wiki (devtome) is dying.

Give me a download link with which to download the wiki database, I will redirect all the domains I control and set it up again myself...

And fat chance I let some other asshole take control away again most likely, now we have seen where that led...

Do we even have a forum anymore?

On devtome.com wiki I tried one of the main links on the left and it sent me to buybiycoins site! WTF?

I tried to find a forum to see what is happening and dont seem to know anymore what domain if any has our forum, if we even have one anymore?

Is there anyone who sent DVC to bter.com deposit recent week?
My transaction is pending for a few days there (since 11/20/2016 1:09:12)
I created a ticket 2 days ago, and there is no answer.

It would be a tragedy if this, one of the oldest sha coins in crypto, be allowed to die simply because the devteam "can't be bothered anymore".

There must be something that can be done......somebody?
I moved away because we couldnt come to consensus on great ideas that would lead to devcoins network affect... i was the only developer that cared others pumped and dumped... alas i found my calling in other coins that ive innovated for that have let me take the lead and make changes required to keep with the market...afaik noone is developing for it but its an easy coin to work with so any developer can

I for one would be happy to help resurrecting it

It's encouraging to see that some long term forum members share my view on this coin.  My tech knowledge is limited at best, but if a takeover was to go ahead - what would be involved exactly?
Well, looks like the potential support is kinda limited

Sad, this was a good idea
Why would they let this die?

What a waste
You had such a nice idea, but no enough courage to develop it.

Sucks to hear. The last payouts (the ones going out now) are screwed up because Devtome was down. Anyone who contributed in the month prior gets absolutely nothing. Only ongoing payments were added to the list. So people are quite literally losing money at this point because they are not missing coins they should have, but others are being OVERpaid, meaning there's more inflation. The system as it stands is in a very dire shape.
Round 62 payments don't end until next weds/thurs; including 53 devtome shares.
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/blob/master/account_62.csv
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/blob/master/receiver_62.csv

Round 63 appears to include 55 devtome shares:

Weird. I was looking at the dvccountdown page and it showed very different numbers. I guess as long as the recv pages are good we're fine.

Would be great if Devtome could be brought up again and/or made more resilient.

It needs someone that is willing to keep it maintained and work on monetizing it, really. The point behind it was to create an advertising powerhouse, which would purchase DVC off the market and help add buying pressure. So far, whoever is running it has failed to follow that vision.

I'm "Investor Administrator" for that reason! But never got access to improve the platform. I feel myself kind of ignored! Devtome would have huge success and I'm up to work on improving it but I need to have enough privileges for it. Currently I can only use the wiki like any other user, so it is near to impossible for me to achieve any significant improvement.

Yes, but that is only within the application, I need access to the hosting in order to change stuff deeper as we need.

I'm talking to jasinlee at the moment about rehosting devtome on one of my servers. I might just give it it's own fresh server, in which case I can give you su access there.

Do you have any particular software requirements? Regarding hardware, I'll see what I can accommodate.

The most important thing is that we ditch our current advertiser and get the site acceptable to the higher paying ones (eg adwords). I recall we couldn't do this in the past because of our non-censoring policy, but I think we've proven that devtome can't survive without censoring. As a benchmark, devtome has been earning 0.001 btc per month from coinurl :/.

Is anyone able to figure out and suggest a plan of action on what we need to do to convert devtome to be adwords approved?

Is anyone an advertising fiend that knows how to best place ads? At the moment devtome only has one at the top, and I'm sure that could be made better.

HB

Now we are talking Cheesy

I prefer debian/ubuntu, and I will setup anything else with su grants. Also, I can contribute a server for automated backups.

I still see devtome down and got no access to help with devtome Sad Any news @Hunterbunter?

Just to let you know that I have no news from @Hunterbunter
