Would be great if Devtome could be brought up again and/or made more resilient.

It needs someone that is willing to keep it maintained and work on monetizing it, really. The point behind it was to create an advertising powerhouse, which would purchase DVC off the market and help add buying pressure. So far, whoever is running it has failed to follow that vision.

I'm "Investor Administrator" for that reason! But never got access to improve the platform. I feel myself kind of ignored! Devtome would have huge success and I'm up to work on improving it but I need to have enough privileges for it. Currently I can only use the wiki like any other user, so it is near to impossible for me to achieve any significant improvement.

Flam, what do you think it would take to make devtome Google/adwords friendly? The current advertising is worthless, and we're just crippling ourselves.

dvccountdown - it was playing up, so I spent a bit of time fixing it / optimizing it. I may have introduced more bugs but I've sped it up significantly.

Regarding devtome, I can host it on one of my servers. The HR page still says jasinlee is in charge of it, so I'll send him a message to see about migrating it. Does anyone know if someone else has control of it?

HB

Not sure about who runs it now but I'd assume it's still Jasinlee.

I also don't think it should be that big of an issue to host. It's getting less than 300 visits per day... I just can't fathom how that's a huge resource hog.

The site has a lot of activity, yet it has a heavy platform for what it can earn to the community, so we need to rebuild it an make it profitable again so there is money to pay the bills. People doesn't needs to spend their own money, Devtome has enough content and community to rock for everyone!

I saw this coming and tried to raise awareness, unfortunately people running devtome are hard to reach, otherwise I would helped more, anyways never is too late, it is up to you.

Devtome is up with this message:

"DEVTOME.COM HOSTING COSTS HAVE BEGUN TO EXCEED 115$ MONTHLY. THE ADMINISTRATION IS NO LONGER ABLE TO HANDLE THE COST WITHOUT ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE RISING COST. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ALMOST A YEAR, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HANDLING IT FROM OUR OWN POCKETS. HOWEVER, WITH LITERALLY NO DONATIONS FOR THE PAST 2+ YEARS IT HAS DEPLETED THE BUDGET IN SHORT ORDER WITH THE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY ON THE SITE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. OUR CPU USAGE HAS BECOME TOO HIGH TO REMAIN ON A REASONABLE COSTING PLAN THAT WE COULD MAINTAIN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE DEVTOME PROJECT AND KEEP THE SITE UP/ALIVE PLEASE DONATE (EVEN IF ITS A SATOSHI) TO OUR DEVCOIN 1M4PCuMXvpWX6LHPkBEf3LJ2z1boZv4EQa OR OUR BTC WALLET 16eqEcqfw4zHUh2znvMcmRzGVwCn7CJLxR TO ALLOW US TO AFFORD THE HOSTING.

THE DEVCOIN AND DEVTOME PROJECTS ARE BOTH VERY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER 5 OR MORE YEARS!"

Pay round keeps working!

Look: http://www.coinage.tk/devcoin/tx/6835a8971e033d8747a5cbe15c9ca4129b9c0044dd06b579da6d69c8fc596afc

That block is from just a few minutes ago, so guess that this is just hosting matter (again) that should be resolved soon.

The receiver files are on many other sites (for example, I host a copy of it), so it's not related to Devtome in the slightest. Devtome is only used to pull article/word counts. The current round (and next round) are already calculated, though, and were before Devtome went down. So if Devtome isn't up by the end of the next round, the one after that will not be calculated.

If anyone is interested to write.. you can use STEEM and get paid... I am still with Syscoin where you can buy/sell things using a decentralized marketplace if anyone is interested, come on over to syscoin slack and say hi!

DevelCuy you can have devcoinauctions.com code that I had written free of charge if you want to kickstart this project. Let me know on sys slack.

I was going to reccommend Steemit.com as the "new Devtome."

Looks like the end of the coin and the wiki. Eh?

Oh well.  It was nice while it lasted.

I published hundreds of thousands of words via scores and scores of long articles.  Fortunately I kept copies.

A couple years ago I took a course on day trading crypto.  The teacher was adamant that all alt coins are temporary.  Looks like he was right.

At the end of the course he said to never trade BTC on the open market in your own name  on an exchange connected to your bank account, but to do it underground, under the table through some site where you don't get full price and you have the funds sent to some prepaid type debit card that isn't in your name.

Due to the IRS decision/classification on crypto currency, it really made it totally unwise to deal in crypto to fiat transactions, so that was my cue to quit writing for pay.  I just wanted to get paid for the last month I had written, but that never happened due to a rash of computer malfunctions where my wallets kept being corrupted.

But I actually would have been interested in writing for Devtome from time to time without getting paid.  I'm really sorry to see the wiki go by the proverbial wayside.

Anyway, thanks to everybody who did so much to make Devtome and Devcoin what it was for a number of years.  Nothing to hang your heads about.

Good effort my friends!

Cheers

Devtome has been up and down for a week now. That error message that was posted (about it being suspended) keeps coming and going. The site keeps being put into "resource overload" as well.

Devtome and Devcoin.org too:

http://devtome.com/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi
http://devcoin.org/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi

And the forum site is abandoned: http://devcointalk.org/ (full of SPAM)

It all seems like there is nobody taking care Devcoin anymore. Yet I think DVC is great for micro-transactions, I will elaborate more soon.

It's not delisted from Bter yet, just in danger of being delisted. However, it would be great to get it back up on some other exchanges. I really miss having a BTC/DVC market.

BTER has apparently delisted DVC.  Got several thousand of these puppies and absolutely nowhere to exchange em.  Ideas welcome Smiley

pay to list it on cryptopia or yobit... the next cryptopia vote finishes in 7 hours and DVC is in 2nd place. Would only take a few ppl to bump it to #1.

Fixed the typo  Wink
