Services, then? Auto delivered products like personal hygiene products (razor blades, Amway-ish)?

Was not thinking of Amway but yes a way for paying for services and Auto delivered products, may be two ways to go.

Problem is people earning DevCoin, hopefully, live all over the Globe so how to reach them. You would need to address each country one at a time to start with or as you say get someone like Amway with international reach to accept DevCoin.

Quick question to each of you DevCoin earners out there:

What would DevCoin earners want to regularly spend their DevCoin on?

If someone has already mention your idea please repeat it so I can get some idea of numbers...

Responses will be collated and reported back to this thread.

I'm a junkie for gift cards. Amazon, Cabella's, etc.

Thanks eeh, but gift cards indicate you wanted to buy something else...

I am looking for things you would regularly buy with DevCoin direct.

In this way we know what to target to make a difference to those earning DVC.

Maybe you will get your wish.   Cool

P.S. If there is a better way of doing this please point me to it.

Thanks

I am really excited for the prospect of the Auction site but I would like to see (if I were to be working on it and I guess if most would like to work on it) some documentation of a well thought out idea agreed upon, not just a cloud of ideas thrown out there.

Design Documentation
Business Rules and Documentation
Data Transaction Documentation

Just to mention a few. It is a huge under taking, more than I think is being thought out here and I believe everything should be hashed out somehow before any development begins on the site or it will be in a perpetual state of Beta and could cause a lot of problems for whomever is running it.

Have the german language people translated the English phrases that include new English words such as Devcoin into whatever the German for Devcoin would be?

It could well be a translation backlog (it's Dutch by the way  Roll Eyes ).

If you hope to ever get on the DeVCoin receivers list, such as if you become a Devtome author, then make sure the online wallet is one that can handle coins that are mined directly instead of sent via normal send transaction. Many, maybe even most, do not.

I don't know of any blockchain packages available for download anywhere. I am not even sure what one would include, for exampel maybe it is not necessary to include the index files as the user can do -reindex to cause them to be created, given just the raw blocks file.

I also do not even know whether the specific build your are using correctly matches the specific service pack level or version of the specific operating system you are using nor whether that specific binary package works for anyone anywhere other than who-ever built it.

So yeah tons of stuff to diagnose.

Why does it drop connections? Or does it? If its not the one doing the dropping why do the others drop it? Are all our seed nodes overloaded already? So much that is not known...

Copy that, could be either, maybe both. Resetting the clock now. Could you send the blockchain to me or direct me to. A link possibly? Or should I try diagnosing this..?

I have cable modem and I find often when a coin is getting a blockchain or delivering one to someone else my line chokes up so bad I cannot even do nameserver lookups to find the IP address of a name let alone actually get a webpage if my browser already knows the IP address, maybe sometimes a small page I can get but often the webserver just gives up trying to send me the page and resets the connection.

So if you already have one blockchain being gotten maybe that could be it.

My dedicated server when I first tried to set up merged mining I had all the coins started at boot, which choked up the whole machine so bad it would crap out before booting. Even putting five minute delays between coin startups didnt fix it as they all wanted to start catching up on the chain in those first forty minutes or whatever.

Though maybe that case might have been a RAM thing more than bandwidth maybe.

Though you are accessing the forum. Hmm. Maybe only because devcoin did stop getting the blockchain?

The purpose of putting a packaged blockchain on a download site (like in the "put it on devcoin.org" suggestion earlier) is so people can grab the whole chain as a simple download with no verifying needed as its just a browser doing a download then fire up the coin with the blockchain already sitting there on their disk waiting to be verified by their client. Heck bitcoin even has a torrent for the blockchain.
