Are there not ATMs in Canada? Ask to the society owing them to implement Devcoin on their ATMs. Grin
Tourism iin Canada is going to increase a lot.  Grin Maybe ... an annual devcoin meeting in Canada as well.

I live there so I can talk to them they buy from robocode and it costs 20k$ last I checked for theirs cause I wanted to buy. It would have to be open source to claim the bounty so none of these existing platforms will switch to non commercial. It would have to be implemented from scratch no?

For this bounty, the ATM can be closed source, the first step is to get a devcoin ATM.

In a month, if devcoins keep their newfound value, we'll make a bounty for an open source ATM, provisionally this bounty would be 192 shares. Devcoins are currently worth around 0.13 cents, if devcoin stays above 0.05 cents for a month, then we'll make 192 share bounties for huge projects.

Also, I suggest that whoever convinces an existing ATM maker to add devcoin, in turn gets 12 shares. Any objections ?

Hi, I am new to DVC, but have invested in a few.

I notice there is much discussion about the wallet.  I just noticed that the wallet I am using  (Devcoin version 0.3.25.1-beta) does not use confirmation of your pass phrase for encrypting the wallet.  That is very dangerous, as you cannot be certain that the pass phrase you think you have typed is the one you actually typed.

I hope this will be corrected soon.

Great concept and hopefully a great future for the coin.

They just made one for bitcoin, maybe they can help

https://safello.com/nl/index.xhtml

This would be to get an existing bitcoin ATM maker to add devcoins. Even 96 shares, which should be over 10,000$, is not enough to make a new ATM from scratch.

..
Would the ATM print out paper wallets, or would it send DVC to a wallet?  It's a good idea!

It would do whatever Robocoin currently does:
https://robocoinkiosk.com/#customers

..
To qualify for 96 shares I think it should be a production quality unit (anyone could combine a banknote reader and laptop otherwise - without actually creating a finished DVC ATM).

I also think it's awesome!

I agree it should be production quality, it should look like an ATM, it must be able to hold cash securely.

These Guys just started up and made allready one ,maybe it is easy to add devcoin,an their succes depends on the demand there is, because there New at this to , so maby interested,

You can see there ATM here http://www.usatoday.com/videos/money/business/2013/12/12/4002799/

And here is Some news About them , there investers ass well, they could see it als a good investment too
And they say it only cost 5000 to build  1 ATM , so with the 10000 you could build one i think

http://www.coindesk.com/safello-sweden-bitcoin-atm/

I have send them a email About the ATM with a link to this thread, maybe they will reply here

Bit of an early xmas present I was able to port over devcoin src over to bitcoin 0.8.5 with fixes (i0coin latest) and managed to statically link in libcurl so no need for the dll either(sucked doing that btw).. now I need to test and create the qt wallet! How does the test net work?

would you please share some patch or the binary, so we could test it ?

Hey atm just testing I ran the testnet but it crashes when i set up a network before I even try merge mining.. good thing is that the hash generated in init matches the genesis block so the daemon starts up fine. I will up date u once it seems stable. If someone who knows the code wants to do a code review I can talk to them via skype and guide them thru what I did and post the code. I did have to change the original changes from unthinkingbits writeup so that it conforms to new bitcoin source structure so the more eyes the better!

I had asked the same thing. Apparently we're supposed to be adding categories to the bottom of articles (like [[Category:CATNAME

All of my articles are categorized, though.

http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=wiki:user:smeagol

Thanks for pointing that out, I found the bug in devtome that was causing it. It was looking for [[Category: in the text, rather than [[category: in the lower case text, so all the links that were in the format:
[[category:

were not counted. I'll rerun the script now, if it completes the run before the receiver file is made, the new run will be used, otherwise it'll be the old run. Categorization was only 5% of the earnings multiplier this round because it is experimental.

Devtome ran again with the category bug fixed, so the final earnings and statistics are at:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.3925723
https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/devtome_30.csv
https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/devtome_earnings_30.csv

Is there a script which generates a file with total earnings for marketing, writing, admin, and bounties?

and another https://bitcoinatm.com/
There's a challenge. Given the starting point it could make the makers enough to justify costs simply through global marketing and likely interest on roll out. In turn facilitating a lot more in terms of devcoin's whole point - to help fund development - which would benefit from the exposure, interest from working developers, and supporters of their work and the concept of reward for work via cryptos in general.

Edit:

It must handle devcoins, it can handle other currencies. It must be used in a public place for at least a week. For the open source award, the plans must have pictures and have a complete bill of materials.

Since devcoin is centered around development do you think their will ever be a bounty for the creation of a devcoin atm? I really want to see an altcoin atm as I think it would do something great for bitcoin in the long run

I agree there should be a devcoin ATM. Since it involves hardware it would be a big project, so how about 96 shares? Any objection or should something be changed?

Please place me first in line to purchase a Devcoin ATM!

If we could put them in big metropolitan areas they would garner lots of attention for DVC.

+1, big thumbs up.

EDIT: Maybe split into stages, a banknote reader and laptop could work as an atm but its a long way from that to a secure production quality unit.

Maybe even more shares would.  The DVC animation took about 8 hours to put together from start to finish (gathering data, putting in the text) and was 48 shares.  The ATM will take much longer, I bet.

I think devcoin foremost needs a proper functioning windows client. Its currenlty a toy for real geeks right now. That makes it a rather exclusive coin, but it should not stay that way.

On the old devcoin thread I saw there were some issues with the windows client, but as far as I know the one I'm using is fine. I downloaded it from the Devcoin GUI Windows32 link listed here: http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=how_to_get_setup_earning_devcoins_by_writing. I tested it with the devcoin faucet. Are there any currently known issues?

where can you see if the wallet is 100% synced??

If you are using a Windows wallet you can look in the lower right corner for which block your wallet is at. We are currently at block 117675.

Thanks! just bought some devcoins and send them to my wallet Smiley
